Lynn was deeply shaken.
She raised her head and gazed dazedly at the darkness overhead.
"And the most fundamental sign of it was this fall. Throughout recorded history, whenever our consciousnesses were destroyed in a Great Purge, they would revert to the most primordial rules and return to the Main Universe's system of laws. But this time, the Deities who were destroyed seemed to have been annihilated outright. They never returned, and even the rules they represented suffered devastating damage, leaving gaps behind."
"And so we were divided into three groups."
"Some were annihilated, some escaped, and the rest were dragged into Hell amid the upheaval, along with the living beings of that shattered world."
And she...
Was one of those fallen gods of rules.
Lynn's brows knitted tightly. He had never imagined that such a history existed.
And this seemed to have happened in an even more ancient era, long before Titan Big Brother and the others were killed. The Shattered World had perished first, and only then had that darkness swept into the Main Universe where Titan Big Brother and the others lived.
But if that was the case, what role did this Hell play in all of it?
Was it on the side of that Calamity?
Or on the side of the Main Universe's living beings?
Or perhaps...
As though she had sensed his questions, she said quietly:
"This Hell belongs to neither side. It belongs neither to that Calamity nor to the Main Universe. Its existence predates even the first generation in which we embodiments of rules gained self-awareness. From what we understand, this Hell is most likely another mechanism that exists alongside the Great Purge, meant to maintain the balance of the Main Universe."
And what made a mechanism a mechanism...
Was precisely that it
