Background / History

Megumi's biological mother died, and his childhood included moving between places with Toji and encountering people with ill intentions. Toji eventually disappeared, while Tsumiki's mother also abandoned the children. Tsumiki cared for Megumi, maintained their household, and tried to supplement their dwindling savings with odd jobs while barely in her teens 38 43 47 150.

Before his death, Toji entrusted Megumi to Satoru Gojo. Gojo paid a billion to buy him back from the Zenin Clan, which subsequently discovered that it had relinquished a child possessing the coveted Ten Shadows Technique. Gojo adopted Megumi, covered the siblings' living and educational expenses, and personally taught him jujutsu 38 150.

Although Kaze enters Jujutsu High earlier, Megumi is a year older. Their first meeting quickly becomes friendly: Megumi believes Kaze has been hurt by Gojo's teasing, joins him in complaining about their guardian, and lends him unworn clothes for an overnight stay 38 40.

Appearance

  • Hair: Black, with a spiky shape repeatedly compared to a sea urchin 145 150.
  • Eyes: Green 42.
  • Family resemblance: His face closely resembles Toji's, enough for Megumi to recognize the resemblance to his own reflection 46 145.
  • Usual impression: Cold and aloof. Junpei initially finds him intimidating and likens his bearing to that of a delinquent gang leader 45 92.

Personality

Megumi is reserved, earnest, and uncomfortable expressing affection directly. He struggles to find words when Tsumiki cries and instead holds her tightly. His apparently cold manner conceals a deeply caring nature, particularly toward his sister and the younger brother he has accepted as his responsibility 40 43 45.

His developing philosophy is to save people unequally: he prioritizes those he loves and those he personally judges kind or worthy of rescue. He places himself last and is prepared to sacrifice himself for others. This outlook guides his attempt to save Enma Ai's future rather than defend the villagers who persecuted her 43 47 51.

Megumi readily blames himself when loved ones suffer. Being taken hostage forces him to experience the helplessness Tsumiki feels about his dangerous career, strengthening his determination to train. His protectiveness also makes him more cautious than usual when accompanying Kaze on investigations 45 48.

He has a pronounced fondness for animals and fluffy companions. Panda, his Divine Dogs, and Husky all receive attention from him; his patience, treats, and petting even provoke jealousy among his own shikigami 18 46 130.

Abilities & Skills

Ten Shadows Technique

  • Summons shikigami, with continued taming serving as Megumi's established route to greater strength 38 168.
  • Its historical reputation makes Megumi valuable to the Zenin Clan: a previous user died together with a wielder of the Six Eyes and Limitless 38 124.
  • Mahoraga belongs to the technique and can adapt to different attacks. The supplied account does not show this world's Megumi taming or using it 178.

Divine Dogs — Black and White

  • Summons two dog shikigami using the Dog Hand Sign 43.
  • Uses their sense of smell to track Kaze from a handwritten note 43.
  • Assigns them scouting, lookout, and protective duties, including leaving Black to watch over the girl hiding from the villagers 46 47.
  • Directs them to retrieve shell casings after an assassination attempt on Kaze 162.
  • Can combine them into a larger, stronger dog without sacrificing either original shikigami; the fusion is reversible 130.

Nue

  • Summons a human-faced owl shikigami 48.
  • Keeps Nue ready before confronting potentially armed villagers. Ordinary people cannot see it, allowing him to prepare without alerting them 48.

Rabbit Summoning

  • Summons rabbits while Kaze's Heroic Spirit ritual stalls 143.
  • His suggestion that the prospective spirit might like small animals helps prompt Toji to accept the summons 143.

Round Deer

  • Possesses Reverse Cursed Technique and can heal others 179 180.
  • Continuously treats Kaze while he is unconscious following the battle with Sukuna 180.
  • Its self-healing initially prevents Megumi from taming it: his attacks cannot inflict sufficient lasting damage. Toji's assistance overcomes that obstacle 179.

Close Combat and Practical Skills

  • Practices hand-to-hand combat daily, though Kaze considers his body comparatively vulnerable because his primary role is that of a summoner 75.
  • Previously beats up thugs when confident that they cannot overpower him 42 43.
  • Is paired with Panda, whose close-combat strength and experience complement Megumi's summoning abilities 75.
  • Cooks substantial meals for Kaze and helps manage the household. During Tsumiki's recovery feast, he keeps Toji and Gojo's kitchen arguments under control 72 75 156.
  • Suggests that Kaze develop a finishing move by concentrating the abilities of his Heroic Spirits into himself, drawing inspiration from Geto's Maximum Technique 168.

Relationships

  • Tsumiki Fushiguro — Older sister and Megumi's greatest motivation to become stronger. He finds her lectures frustrating but deeply loves and respects her; her curse-induced coma leaves him distressed despite his outward composure 43 72 73.
  • Aikawa Kaze — Accepted younger brother. Megumi feels responsible for protecting him even after discovering that Kaze is much stronger. Their brotherhood remains genuine despite the world consciousness having fabricated Kaze's connection to Toji 45 145.
  • Satoru Gojo — Adoptive father, financial supporter, and jujutsu teacher. Megumi trusts and respects him but finds his teasing exasperating. He eventually acknowledges that calling Gojo “Father” would be reasonable, though he still cannot bring himself to say it 132 150.
  • Toji Fushiguro — Biological father, later summoned as a Heroic Spirit. Megumi treats his unreliability critically but involves him in protecting Kaze; Toji subsequently helps him tame Round Deer 145 162 179.
  • Panda — Fluffy friend and mission partner. Kaze arranges their pairing to give Megumi experienced support on assignments 18 75.
  • Suguru Geto — Initially frightens Megumi by teasing him over his resemblance to Toji. Megumi accepts Kaze's judgment of Geto and later asks his classmates to explain more about him 46 89.
  • Junpei Yoshino — Future schoolmate. Megumi privately asks about Junpei's bullies and receives his cooperation in confronting them; they later arrive at school chatting and laughing together 92 182.
  • Enma Ai — A persecuted girl whom Megumi considers worth saving. He tries to prevent her hatred from destroying her future, although his appeal alone does not change her mind 47 51.
  • Yuji Itadori — Meets Yuji while he is trying to drive away a cursed spirit, then relays his wish to join Jujutsu High to Kaze 182.

  • The Sukuna who possesses Megumi's body during the battle is a parallel-world version, not the Megumi followed in this story 177 178.

Junior High Division

  • Megumi is scheduled to enter Jujutsu High's new affiliated Junior High Division alongside Junpei, Mimiko, and Nanako 141.
  • By the start of term, he appears more relaxed and brings Kaze news of Yuji's interest in enrollment 182.
