"Beep!"
"Beep!!"
In the silent laboratory, only the beeping from the speakers broke the sound of the academicians' breathing.
The bright white text in the holographic projection remained unchanged.
Zero was still trying to reestablish communications with the Black Hole Probes using electromagnetic waves.
But...
As time ticked away, the hope in everyone's hearts dwindled bit by bit.
"Whew..."
Lü Yongchang let out a deep sigh, then moved his lips and said quietly, "It looks like these Black Hole Probes have been..."
"The first Black Hole Probe has successfully switched to its radio communication module."
Zero's electronic synthesized voice cut off Lü Yongchang before he could finish.
Lü Yongchang froze for a moment. Before he could react, the electronic synthesized voice sounded again.
"The second and third Black Hole Probes have both successfully switched to their radio modules."
At the same time, the dim indicators on the azure holographic projection lit up once more.
"Professor! It worked!" He Bilin's excited voice came from beside him, mingling with Zero's electronic synthesized voice. "The probes weren't destroyed!"
"The [event-form] theory was right!"
Lü Yongchang stared blankly at the data slowly updating byte by byte on the holographic projection, a complicated mix of emotions welling up within him.
On the one hand, he felt a measure of relief.
The Black Hole Probes hadn't been destroyed, which meant the Human Fleet hadn't encountered any of those supposed advanced civilizations living around black holes.
That alone was already an enormous stroke of luck for human civilization!
But on the other hand...
"Yes, the [event-form] theory was right."
He nodded almost imperceptibly and sighed in relief. "In a strong gravitational field, the entangled quantum pairs in the Quantum Superluminal Communication Device have a probability of being lost."
As he spoke, a faint trace of worry surfaced
