"Matter... Disintegration Ray?"
Wilson's pupils trembled slightly as he quietly repeated Lü Yongchang's words.
His face was full of confusion and shock.
Just the name alone gave him a sense of the immense power it held!
Wilson took a deep breath to steady himself, then asked quietly, "Professor, how does this Disintegration Ray... work?"
Lü Yongchang raised his hand, tapped the Holographic Projection a few more times, and began explaining in detail.
"Disintegration Ray... that name may have given you the wrong impression."
"It's actually another application of the grand unified field. To be precise, it should be called a Matter Disintegration Field."
"By breaking down the electromagnetic interaction between molecules and atoms, it causes macroscopic matter, as conventionally defined, to disintegrate."
Wilson sucked in another sharp breath. "Professor, is that really possible?"
"In theory, not only the electromagnetic interaction between molecules and atoms, but even the strong and weak interactions can be influenced and controlled."
Lü Yongchang shrugged and said somewhat helplessly, "It's just that our current technology is still nowhere near that level."
Wilson instinctively held his breath, staring blankly at Lü Yongchang.
If the advent of Laser Weapons had marked the beginning of Energy Weapons, then the Matter Disintegration Field, based on grand unified theory, had opened an entirely new door for them!
"That's more or less how it works."
Lü Yongchang clapped his hands lightly, rose from his seat, and continued, "I'll lead this project myself, and you'll be my deputy."
He frowned and clicked his tongue softly. "I'll try to work out the theory over the coming days... Finish whatever you're working on as soon as possible. This project could take a considerable amount of time and effort."
When no reply came, Lü Yongchang instinctively looked up at Wilson in surprise. "Is that all right?"
