Qian Renxue watched Sunday run off and disappear, utterly speechless.
Seriously, with such a grand ideal, how could you possibly sleep? Get up and get to work, you bastard!
But Qian Renxue had already been out long enough today. With no other choice, she decided to look for Sunday again tomorrow.
"Forget it. I still have plenty of time!"
With that thought, Qian Renxue turned and returned to the Crown Prince's Manor.
After both of them had left the Seven Treasure Hotel, a portly middle-aged man emerged from inside.
Watching the two head their separate ways, the man beckoned toward the hotel.
A disciple dressed in the robes of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect came out and bowed his head respectfully to the man.
"Elder!"
"Go report to the sect master. Tell him His Highness the Crown Prince met with a man named Sunday-the great philanthropist who recently appeared in Heaven Dou City!"
The disciple of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect nodded and sprinted toward the outskirts of the city.
Meanwhile, having returned to the Crown Prince's Eastern Palace, Qian Renxue stood beside a pond. She had already shed her disguise and spoke calmly as she gazed ahead.
"Uncle Pufferfish, Uncle Blood Spear, what did you think of that Sunday today?"
The moment Qian Renxue finished speaking, two figures appeared behind her.
They exchanged a glance, then cupped their hands toward Qian Renxue.
"Young mistress, we both think there's more to Sunday than meets the eye! Earlier, we secretly combed through all the records in Heaven Dou City,
"and we even checked the surrounding provinces. There was no one named Sunday at all. What's more, he still hasn't revealed his martial soul!"
Blood Spear chimed in beside him.
"That's right, young mistress. Someone appearing so suddenly could well be another person's handiwork. Should I..."
As he spoke, Blood Spear drew a hand across his neck.
Qian Renxue shook her head at his words.
"Don't make a move yet. I find him quite interesting. I'll sound him out again tomorrow. Keep investigating carefully!"
"Yes!"
Elsewhere, amid a mountain range, stood a magnificent city. Seven Treasure City formed the outer defensive line of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and almost everyone living there was a disciple of the sect or one of their relatives.
Beyond Seven Treasure City lay the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect proper.
At that moment, three people sat in the seats of honor in the sect's main hall, listening to a subordinate's report.
"That man and His Highness the Crown Prince had a very pleasant conversation. They parted ways after finishing their meal.
"Lately, word has been spreading throughout the city that he's Heaven Dou City's great philanthropist. Every morning, he gives alms and treats patients at the Charity Hall!"
After listening to the disciple's report, the refined middle-aged man in the seat of honor nodded with a smile.
"I understand. Thank you for making the trip. Go collect your reward!"
Delight spread across the disciple's face, and he replied respectfully.
"Thank you, Sect Master!"
With that, he withdrew from the hall.
This refined middle-aged man was, of course, Ning Fengzhi, the current sect master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
After hearing the report, he rested both hands on his scepter, tapping it rhythmically.
"Uncle Gu, Uncle Jian, what do you think Qinghe intended by this? And what's so special about that young man named Sunday?"
At Ning Fengzhi's question, Bone Douluo waved a hand dismissively.
"Who knows? He's only a young fellow, anyway. How big a wave could he possibly stir up?"
Sword Douluo, however, frowned slightly and looked toward Ning Fengzhi with some concern.
"Fengzhi, we've never heard anything about this Sunday before. Could he be..."
After hearing him out, Ning Fengzhi smiled and shook his head.
"Uncle Gu, Uncle Jian has a point. How about this? Uncle Jian and I will go take a look tomorrow!"
Both Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo nodded at that.
"Let's do as Fengzhi says! Oh, isn't Rongrong coming back soon?"
At the mention of this, Bone Douluo rose happily to his feet.
"Ah, it's been so long since I last saw Rongrong. I wonder if she misses her grandpa!"
Sword Douluo gave a disdainful snort.
"Hah! Miss you? It's obviously me Rongrong misses! You old fool, always gilding your own face!"
"You old scoundrel! Do you dare fight me?"
"As if I'd be afraid of you!"
Watching the two start bickering again, Ning Fengzhi shook his head helplessly.
Early the next morning, Sunday had just gotten up and was trimming his flower garden when he heard a knock at the gate.
Knock, knock, knock!
"May I ask if Mr. Sunday is here?"
At that gentle voice, Sunday's brow furrowed. It carried the hypocrisy he despised most!
He walked over and opened the gate, revealing a middle-aged man dressed in blue-and-white brocade.
Ning Fengzhi wore a perfectly measured smile. Refined and easygoing, he looked for all the world like a friendly uncle from next door.
When Sunday opened the gate, Ning Fengzhi visibly froze.
It wasn't that Sunday's opening the gate had surprised him, but rather Sunday's appearance.
His distinguished blue-and-white suit gave him an elegant, solemn air, yet there was a hint of languor in his expression.
Most striking were the halo behind his head and the feathers by his ears. The halo could be explained as an ornament, but what about those feathers that were still moving?
Someone with a martial soul mutation?
Having settled on that explanation, Ning Fengzhi betrayed nothing outwardly and nodded to Sunday with a smile.
"I take it you must be Mr. Sunday, the great philanthropist whose name has recently become renowned throughout Heaven Dou City?"
At Ning Fengzhi's words, Sunday thought, What a lofty hat to put on my head!
He heaps praise on me right out of the gate. If I send him away, this monkey who loves hopping about will make sure the whole city hears about it!
With that thought, Sunday returned the greeting with an impassive expression.
"You flatter me, Sect Master Ning. I'm merely passing the time, nothing worthy of mention! Please, come in!"
Sunday stepped aside as he spoke, also giving himself a better view of what Ning Fengzhi had brought.
Behind Ning Fengzhi stood a white-haired middle-aged man in white robes. His posture was straight, and his entire presence resembled a keen-edged sword.
Behind him were several disciples of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, carrying seven or eight large chests.
Upon entering the courtyard, Ning Fengzhi discreetly surveyed the surroundings. He found the furnishings simple, with not even a servant in sight.
That surprised him. After all, Sunday's attire hardly suggested a man of modest circumstances.
"Your elegant residence truly has a character all its own, Mr. Sunday!"
"Not at all. You flatter me, Sect Master Ning. Sect Master Ning, Sword Douluo, please take a seat!"
As he spoke, Sunday poured two cups of tea.
Sword Douluo looked at Sunday with slight surprise. Recognizing Ning Fengzhi could be explained by ordinary inquiries or having seen a portrait.
After all, Ning Fengzhi frequently appeared in public, whereas he almost never went out except to protect Ning Fengzhi on occasion.
"You actually recognize me?"
Sunday smiled.
"Just a guess based on rumors. I've heard that whenever Sect Master Ning goes out, either Sword Douluo or Bone Douluo always guards him, never leaving his side.
"I thought that someone with such a distinctive bearing, who could stand beside Sect Master Ning, could only be Sword Douluo!"
A smile appeared on Chen Xin's face at Sunday's words. Clearly, he found them pleasing.
"I like the sound of that. I am indeed much easier to recognize than that old bag of bones!"
"All right, Uncle Jian!"
Ning Fengzhi shook his head helplessly, sat down, and took a sip of tea.
"I heard that my disciple came to visit you yesterday, Mr. Sunday. I thought there might be some business you needed to attend to.
"Though my own strength is lacking, I believe I have a few connections. So I came to see whether the two of you had encountered any difficulties, in the hope of lending what little help I can!"
