Background / History

Diavolo was born to an imprisoned mother, while his father's identity remained unknown. A kind priest raised him to adulthood, but Diavolo eventually murdered his birth mother, adoptive father, and every neighbor who knew him, then burned down the village where he had lived for nineteen years. 8

He later founded Passion and turned it into a force controlling Italy's underworld. Unlike criminals motivated by wealth or desire, Diavolo commits evil and destruction as an instinctive end in itself. 8

To preserve his position, he built his rule around absolute secrecy. Despite his wealth, he used public transport, stayed in cheap inns, avoided marriage and property, and worked to leave no trace that could reveal his identity. His hidden reputation became so absolute that Passion members regarded the Boss as an untouchable god. 8 225

Dual Identity

Diavolo has two distinct personalities: the dominant Boss persona and Tonio, a mild, polite subordinate persona. They are unaware of one another; Tonio can interact innocently with others while unknowingly carrying Diavolo's identity. 21

King Crimson is a nearly two-meter-tall, muscular humanoid Stand with red-and-white body patterns, a ferocious expression, and a small mask-like face on its forehead. Its appearance reflects Diavolo's cruelty and destructive nature. 8

Personality

Diavolo is violently cruel, cold, and fundamentally destructive. He does not value wealth, relationships, or ordinary pleasures; he seeks to expand Passion because it allows him to create more suffering and chaos. 8

His ruthlessness is tempered by intense caution. He conceals his identity, studies opponents' abilities, prepares escape routes, and prefers ambushes or time-erased attacks over direct risk. 50 212 312 However, this caution coexists with a fragile pride. Humiliation, exposure, or fear can push him into rage and reckless obsession, particularly when confronting Li Qing or Jotaro Kujo. 215 216
