| First Appearance | Chapter 35 |
Background
At age twelve, Bucciarati killed a man sent to silence his ailing father, protecting him at the cost of becoming unwelcome in both ordinary society and the underworld. Passion subsequently gave Bucciarati and his father shelter; his father later died peacefully under that protection. 65
Bucciarati had been involved in the underworld since age fourteen. Although grateful to Passion, he resented the drug trade that had brought suffering into his life and wanted to change the organization from within. 55 65 He sought promotion to Capo because greater authority would let him better protect Naples and preserve its peace. 36
By age eighteen, Bucciarati commanded Polpo's Naples combat unit, the Bucciarati Team. The original core consisted of Bucciarati, Fugo, and Narancia; he personally recruited Abbacchio to strengthen the group. 35 He initially respected Diavolo as the leader who had unified Italy's underworld and ended widespread gang warfare. 55
Appearance
Bucciarati is an eighteen-year-old man with brilliant blue eyes and a robust physique developed through years of training. 35 198
- Clear blue eyes, normally calm even under pressure 199 200
- Physically trained enough to endure direct Stand attacks while continuing to fight 198
- His Stand is a blue, metallic-looking humanoid. 54 197
Personality
Bucciarati is mature, steady, and protective toward his subordinates. He leads with calm authority, but his concern extends beyond his team: he avoids harming Naples civilians, assists people in need, and is beloved by elderly residents of the old town. 35 36 119
His compassion is principled rather than passive. He can show mercy to a violent addict in hopes of preventing future harm, yet becomes uncompromising toward those who exploit kindness to commit evil. 193 200 His greatest internal conflict is between loyalty to the organization that sheltered him and his determination to end the harm it causes. 55 65
Abilities & Skills
Steel Chain Fingers
Bucciarati's Stand is generally called Steel Chain Fingers; a Stand panel identifies it as Sticky Fingers. 50 54 It creates zippers in bodies, objects, and terrain, allowing Bucciarati to separate, rearrange, or access spaces in unconventional ways.

Stand parameters from the “Sticky Fingers” panel. 54
- Opens zippers across opponents' bodies, disabling limbs without conventional cutting; it left Li Qing's arm divided into multiple hanging sections. 55
- Creates openings in Bucciarati's own body, letting him evade attacks, alter his shadow's position, or carry another person within an internal space. 57 119 200
- Opens zippers in walls and ground to create temporary alternate spaces, including underground escape routes. 90 195
- Can be used for rapid movement, including a makeshift zip line during pursuit. 56
- Has an effective operational range of roughly two meters from Bucciarati. 56
- Combines its close-range power with improvised tools; Bucciarati used wooden sticks to intercept King of Rivers' tongue and exploit its three-mark condition. 197 198
Tactical Analysis
Bucciarati quickly assesses unfamiliar Stand abilities and organizes his team around the resulting information.
- Ordered Moody Blues to replay Mista's recent actions, using the replay to identify Li Qing's trail. 50
- Recognized a car crash as a Stand attack immediately because the hostile Stand had openly revealed itself. 118
- Identified the need to use wooden sticks against King of Rivers, forcing its tongue to mark disposable objects instead of his body or Stand. 197 199
- Concealed Abbacchio inside his own body, allowing Abbacchio to emerge after Bucciarati was swallowed and ambush Anthony at close range. 200
Leadership and Combat
Bucciarati is a capable close-quarters combatant even without his Stand and leads from the front in dangerous engagements.
- Personally confronted Li Qing despite knowing the bounty on him was a Capo position. 36 55
- Took direct hits from King of Rivers to protect Steel Chain Fingers and force an opening against Anthony. 198 199
- Led his team through a parachute escape after Diavolo launched a missile at their helicopter. 187
- Prioritized reaching the Colosseum before Diavolo, treating the race for the Arrow's power as a mission affecting countless lives. 187
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Prepared SUV cache — Stored in a mall parking garage with weapons, ammunition, cash, false license plates, false identification, disposable phones, and disguise tools. 82
- Wooden sticks — Improvised by Steel Chain Fingers as defensive weapons against King of Rivers. 197 198

- Pannacotta Fugo — Team member whom Bucciarati trusts but worries about when Purple Haze is used in battle. 35 55
- Narancia Ghirga — Bucciarati rescued Narancia from homelessness, treated his eye condition, and encouraged him to return to school; Narancia views him as an idol. 64
- Giorno Giovanna — Initially a target-associated youth; later fights beside Bucciarati as part of the Anti-@@REF_ENTITY_2758831@@ Alliance. 51 67 68
- Li Qing — Began as Bucciarati's assassination target and combat opponent; their clash ultimately led Bucciarati to join Li Qing's rebellion against Diavolo. 35 55 65
- Guido Mista — Initially encountered as an enemy protecting Li Qing, but later earned Bucciarati's trust and joined the group. 50 82 119
- Polpo — Former superior and examiner. Their relationship collapsed after Bucciarati defected; Polpo later used Naples' elderly residents as hostages against him. 35 118 119
- Willy Coward — Bucciarati refused to make Willy a core member, believing he lacked the resolve needed to survive, but arranged outer-circle work for him afterward. 88 89
- Elderly residents of Naples' old town — Bucciarati's emotional support network; he treats them as family, and they regard him as one of their own. 119
Story Role / Major Arcs
Hunt for Li Qing
Polpo ordered Bucciarati's team to locate and kill Li Qing, whose death carried the reward of a Capo position. Bucciarati led the pursuit through the devastated area near Mount Vesuvius and relied on Abbacchio's Moody Blues for tracking. 35 36
He fought Li Qing directly, using Steel Chain Fingers to disable Li Qing's body. Though Bucciarati initially refused Li Qing's offer to rebel, he was eventually defeated and forced to reconsider his allegiance. 55 58
Defection from Passion
After Li Qing captured the team, Bucciarati chose to join him in challenging Diavolo. He proposed attacking key Passion departments to force the hidden Boss into the open, using his knowledge of the organization to shape the rebellion's strategy. 65
His defection immediately made the team targets of Diavolo's guards. Bucciarati attempted to deceive Fernando by posing as a loyal Passion captain, but Fernando exposed the betrayal and shot him. 67 68
Conflict with Polpo
Polpo confronted Bucciarati's group with Black Sabbath and attempted to delay them on Diavolo's orders. When Bucciarati would not cooperate, Polpo kidnapped the elderly residents of Naples' old town to exploit Bucciarati's compassion. 118 119
Bucciarati countered Black Sabbath by opening his own body with Steel Chain Fingers and exposing the Stand to sunlight. 119
Rome Operation
While racing Diavolo to Rome, Bucciarati ordered the group to parachute from their targeted helicopter and reach the Colosseum as quickly as possible. 187 He landed with Abbacchio in a dangerous city park, where he intervened to stop Abbacchio from killing a knife-wielding addict outright. 193
The pair later confronted Anthony Kanchi and King of Rivers. Bucciarati engineered a layered deception involving a rescued addict's arm, Steel Chain Fingers, his own body, and the hidden Abbacchio. The plan placed Abbacchio within reach of Anthony and forced Anthony to release Bucciarati, Steel Chain Fingers, and Moody Blues. 197 199 200
Struggle for Passion's Future
After Diavolo's apparent legacy created a potential power vacuum, Bucciarati warned that ambitious members would challenge exposed rebels more readily than an unseen Boss. He continued planning around traps, hidden combat forces, and the need to secure proof of Diavolo's fall. 225 227
