Elsewhere, Genya followed Kurenai Yuhi down the street.
"Kurenai, where are we going?"
He looked up as he asked, his voice softer than usual from blood loss and pain.
Kurenai Yuhi glanced down at him. The boy's expression as he struggled to endure the pain softened her heart, and she spoke gently.
"To my place. I have some basic medical supplies at home. We'll stop the bleeding and bandage you up first."
"Oh..."
Genya murmured his agreement and obediently followed without asking anything else.
Before long, they reached Kurenai Yuhi's apartment.
The rooms were tidy and inviting, with a distinctly feminine softness.
Kurenai Yuhi had Genya sit in the living room and quickly fetched her Medical Kit.
First, she carefully used the Disinfecting Scissors to cut away the blood-soaked sleeve around his wound, exposing the horrific puncture that went straight through his hand.
When she saw the Kunai still lodged firmly in his flesh, the edges of the wound splayed open in a bloody mess, even though she had seen plenty of injuries before-
She still couldn't help drawing a sharp breath, gaining a much clearer understanding of just how ruthless Genya had been with himself.
"Bear with me. I'm going to pull out the Kunai, then clean and disinfect the wound."
Kurenai Yuhi's voice was very soft.
She secured Genya's wrist first, then took a deep breath to steady herself, gripping the Kunai's handle with one hand and pressing down on the back of his hand with the other.
Click.
With a faint sound, the bloodstained Kunai came free.
"Hiss!!!"
Genya finally couldn't hold it in any longer. The tough-guy image he had forced himself to maintain in front of everyone instantly crumbled, his little face scrunching up in pain.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!!! Be gentle, Kurenai! Gentle!"
