Two chops to the neck, one to the head-even the King of Hell would call you dead!

As the axe in Fan Shang's hand swung down again and again.

Everyone around him felt a chill run through them.

What had they just witnessed? This white-haired man before them, who looked a little frail.

He had actually hacked the woman's head off, one axe blow at a time.

He had even left her unrecognizable.

Not everyone could watch a scene like that unfold before their eyes without flinching.

Tang Qingyu's little face paled at the sight, while Tang Qingxue threw up outright. Yet, wanting to conserve supplies, she even tried to cover her mouth with her little hand.

All that accomplished was smearing vomit over her hand.

She was far from the only one. Most of the others reacted much the same way.

Although they had seen countless bloody scenes since being caught up in this supernatural incident, seeing the aftermath was different from watching it happen right in front of them.

As everyone stared at Fan Shang's bloodstained figure, they somehow felt as though they were looking at a terrifying monster.

It wasn't as if Liu Tie had never killed anyone in the convoy.

But compared with Fan Shang, he still fell a little short.

"Why? Why did you get to awaken a Sequence? Why did you get to survive?!"

"If it weren't for you-if you'd acted sooner, awakened sooner-he wouldn't have died."

Among the crowd, a figure stared fixedly at Fan Shang, at that bloodstained, white-haired man.

The woman's body trembled with fear, but she still couldn't suppress the resentment flashing through her eyes.

It was Jiang Yu.

Just then, Fan Shang seemed to sense something too.

He turned, but saw nothing in the crowd except survivors who didn't dare meet his gaze.

Fan Shang narrowed his eyes at that, but didn't dwell on it.

His gaze shifted to Liu Tie and the other two.

He saw their reactions.

Although Liu Tie and Lin Xue were somewhat surprised that Fan Shang had attacked outright, they hadn't reacted like the others. After all, they had seen plenty of this.

Even if Fan Shang hadn't acted just now, Liu Tie would have.

Zhou Ping's pupils, however, contracted sharply. He was clearly shocked.

He hadn't expected Fan Shang to attack outright...

"Shang... Brother Shang?"

He glanced at the corpse on the ground, then at Fan Shang's pale, blood-spattered face.

For some reason, Zhou Ping's lips felt dry.

He hadn't expected Fan Shang to be even more extreme than he was. He had only intended to beat the woman up, but Fan Shang had chopped her head clean off.

It would have been a lie to say Zhou Ping wasn't shocked.

But that shock didn't last long.

Soon, Zhou Ping accepted what had happened.

After all, Zhou Ping was a sequence transcendent, someone who had survived in this Weird World for half a year.

Even if he was a weakling when it came to dealing with supernatural horrors, he had still seen his share of gruesome sights.

It was just one death.

What day went by in this damned world without someone dying?

"What is it?"

Hearing him, Fan Shang looked up at Zhou Ping.

Zhou Ping's lips moved, and eventually an admiring expression appeared on his face.

"Badass!"

Fan Shang: "?"

"Absolutely."

Liu Tie patted Fan Shang on the shoulder and agreed.

Fan Shang: "??"

He looked at Lin Xue next. She said nothing, merely nodding slightly to show her approval of what Fan Shang had just done.

Fan Shang: "???"

Hearing their words and seeing Lin Xue's response, Fan Shang felt utterly bewildered, a huge question mark practically hanging over his head.

"Wait... aren't you all reacting a little strangely?"

While Fan Shang wondered about this.

Liu Tie stepped forward.

Seeing Liu Tie approach, someone immediately spoke in a trembling voice.

"C-Captain Liu, he... he killed someone."

It sounded as though they were seeking reassurance, or perhaps giving voice to the fear inside them.

They addressed Liu Tie.

In their eyes, if anyone in the convoy could put a stop to Fan Shang's brutality, it was Liu Tie.

But Liu Tie's expression didn't change when he heard this.

He merely nodded, then spoke.

"Yes, I know."

Bewilderment. Confusion.

"Captain Liu, what are you saying? This man killed someone in front of everyone, just because that woman said a few things about him! What right did he have to kill her? Murder is against the law!"

Hearing these accusations, Liu Tie let out a derisive laugh.

Then he raised his eyes and stared at these people who still hadn't grasped their situation after spending so long in this world, a cold look crossing his face.

He still remembered how they had tried to guilt-trip him earlier.

"So? What if he killed her? Frankly, even if Brother Shang hadn't acted just now, I would've killed you myself."

"Captain Liu, you... what are you saying? How can you act like this?!"

Some of the survivors looked incredulous when they heard this.

But Liu Tie clearly had no intention of answering them. He simply continued with a cold sneer.

"Why can't I?"

"Some people get a full belly and forget every lesson they've learned. You even spout stupid shit like 'Sequence Users have to protect us.' Have I been so nice to you that you've started thinking you're something special?"

The survivors who had agreed and chimed in earlier all flushed red at his words.

They wanted to argue, but didn't dare. The woman's gruesome death was still vivid in their minds.

Of course, Liu Tie didn't give them a chance to speak anyway.

"But since you, like us, only just managed to survive this time, I'll say it once more."

"You'd better drop those little schemes of yours. This is the apocalypse! Sequence transcendents aren't your mothers or your fathers. They have no obligation to protect you.

"If I ever hear anything like 'You're a sequence transcendent, so you have to protect us' again, Brother Shang won't need to act. I'll kill you myself first."

"Understood?"

As his words fell, everything around them went silent.

No one dared speak.

Everyone could feel the chill in Liu Tie's words. He was serious.

Nor had anyone expected this scar-faced man, who usually seemed fairly easygoing, to say something like that.

To have such an icy side.

But rather than being surprised that Liu Tie had this side to him, they should have been surprised if he didn't.

In a world that devoured people, Liu Tie could never have survived this long as the leader of a convoy without having something to back it up.

Ignoring everyone's reactions, Liu Tie led Fan Shang and the others past the crowd.

After they cleaned up and moved the corpses.

The obstacles blocking the convoy were finally cleared away.

Everyone in the convoy stayed silent throughout, but still completed their assigned tasks.

Then the convoy set off again without delay.

Although the supernatural attack had left everyone in the convoy visibly exhausted.

Not a single person complained along the way. After all, none of them wanted another supernatural attack.

They had already spent far too long on that stretch of road.

And so the convoy kept driving along the highway.

Not until bloody light flecked the sky and the eerie moon with a human face hung high overhead again.

Did the convoy finally stop to rest.

By then, everyone in the convoy had already put the unpleasantness from a few hours earlier behind them.

The hubbub of conversation and the sound of snoring rose from the convoy again.

There was even faint laughter.

Finding joy amid suffering wasn't a good thing.

But...

This was the apocalypse!
