The next day.

Several luxury cars came charging up to the footbridge where Ye Fan had set up his stall.

Master Yuan stroked his beard as he watched Jiang Hailin get out of a luxury car, thinking, I really had foresight. I knew these rich young men would come looking for trouble. That little con artist selling talismans owes me a favor.

"Second Brother, where's the man you told us about?" Qian Yu asked after looking around.

Jiang Hailin frowned. "He doesn't seem to be here."

Qian Yu grew agitated. "He isn't here? How can he not be here?"

Jiang Hailin frowned. "I don't know. Maybe something came up."

"How can that be?" Qian Yu asked anxiously. "We can afford to wait, but our eldest brother can't!"

Jiang Hailin gritted his teeth. "Stop panicking! If he isn't coming, we can go find him. I keep feeling like I've seen him somewhere before, but why can't I remember?"

Watching the wealthy young men who had arrived in luxury cars pace around anxiously, Master Yuan finally realized they weren't there to pick a fight. They had come to ask Ye Fan for help. The realization horrified him.

"Second Brother, that guy could tell you had ghostly energy on you. He's obviously an expert! Why didn't you ask for his business card or phone number?"

Jiang Hailin rolled his eyes. "I didn't think that far ahead!" Who could blame him when the guy looked exactly like a con artist? What kind of expert ate KFC while running a street stall? How embarrassing!

Ye Fan had no idea that while he was sleeping soundly in bed, Master Yuan was being questioned dozens of times by several wealthy young men.

Finally, driven to the verge of a breakdown by their interrogation, Master Yuan remembered something.

"You said he has a nephew who goes to school nearby?" Jiang Hailin asked.

Master Yuan nodded. "Yes. That child rode in a luxury car, and even a random card he pulled out had a million on it. He must come from a prominent family. He should be easy to track down."

Jiang Hailin hurried straight to the nearby elementary school with "Master Yuan" in tow.

The families behind Jiang Hailin, Qian Yu, and Zhu Zhongqiu were all powerful. When these young men came to the school asking to examine its student records, the principal could hardly refuse.

"That's him." Master Yuan soon picked out Wu Haoqiang's student record.

"You mean this kid?"

As the eldest legitimate grandson of his generation in the Wu Family, Wu Haoqiang was far better known than Ye Fan.

"You said Wu Haoqiang is the master's nephew. Then could the master be-" Qian Yu's eyes widened in disbelief.

Realization dawned on Jiang Hailin. "That explains it! I thought that talisman seller looked familiar. So it was him."

Qian Yu quickly shook his head. "You must have made a mistake. That's Ye Fan!"

Qian Yu looked down on Ye Fan somewhat. Despite his noble birth and powerful maternal family, Ye Fan had been bullied into such a miserable state by a mistress's son. His father's favoritism was certainly part of the reason, but Ye Fan's own cowardice and lack of ambition had also played a major role.

As soon as Ye Fan got out of the car, three luxury cars surrounded him.

Jiang Hailin stepped out of one of the luxury cars and approached Ye Fan. "Young Master Ye, do you still remember me?"

Ye Fan nodded and said calmly, "You bought a few talismans from me a couple of days ago. Sorry, but I don't accept returns."

Jiang Hailin gave a strained chuckle. "I'm not here to return them. I have something I'd like to ask your help with."

Ye Fan studied Jiang Hailin for a moment. "The ghostly energy on you has faded quite a bit. You should be fine now."

Ye Fan pointed at Qian Yu. "What's going on with you? It looks like you've come into contact with a ghost again. The ghostly energy on you is pretty strong. Don't tell me you've fallen for a ghost and can't break things off."

Ye Fan's words sent a shock through Jiang Hailin. He and his friends were all occult enthusiasts. Having tried bungee jumping, rock climbing, sky surfing, and the like, they had wanted to try something different.

When they heard that a female ghost in red sang at midnight in a graveyard in a remote town, they agreed to go there together to see her... They got their wish and saw the ghost, but Song Bohui, the eldest of the four, ended up possessed by her.

But inviting a ghost was easier than getting rid of one. After the female ghost latched onto Song Bohui, he had frequent episodes in which he said strange things. Sometimes he grinned hideously, and at other times he sang in a lilting voice.

Jiang Hailin and the others sought out several masters, but none could help.

After buying talismans from Ye Fan, Jiang Hailin tried one and found it worked fairly well, so he used one on Song Bohui. The talisman seemed to have taken effect, and Song Bohui actually regained some of his senses. However, his soul and the ghost's appeared to have become locked in a struggle.

"You must be joking, Young Master Ye. How could I fall for a ghost?" Qian Yu was filled with regret. Going to see the ghost at midnight had been his suggestion. After what happened to Song Bohui, the Song Family practically hated him to the bone.

When he learned that the talismans Jiang Hailin had bought worked, Qian Yu immediately delivered them to Song Bohui.

The talismans worked, but while they were being used, the ghost might have felt provoked and attacked him. That was why Qian Yu had so much ghostly energy on him.

"What did you come to see me for?" Ye Fan pulled four large bags of snacks out of the car.

Jiang Hailin hurried forward to help carry them.

Ye Fan had bought four bulging bags of Wahaha drinks, yogurt, chocolate, potato chips, instant noodles... Carrying them left Jiang Hailin thoroughly exhausted.

Naturally, Ye Fan was delighted to have someone carry his things for free. After all, although Young Master Ye had been unable to cultivate in his previous life, he had been fortunate enough to be born into a good family, and his sect had assigned him two maids and two male attendants.
