Yu Nian wasn't affected by what had happened and went to class as usual the next day.

He and Bian Yan were in the same major and class. Even though he no longer lived in the dorm, Bian Yan still saved him a seat.

Yu Nian walked into the classroom with his books. Bian Yan waved to him from the middle, where the view was best. "Yu Nian, over here."

Yu Nian pulled down the seat and sat beside him, then handed him a still-warm bag from his pocket. "Brought this for you. Eat it while it's hot."

Bian Yan's eyes lit up. "Glutinous Rice Chicken from that place by the campus gate!"

He took it in both hands. In the early winter chill, the steaming Glutinous Rice Chicken gave off a comforting aroma.

Yu Nian blinked, a smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah."

Bian Yan was touched. "You're too good to me. I said you could bring me anything, and you actually got me this. The line at that place is always so long."

Yu Nian chuckled. "I was getting some for myself anyway. It's close to my apartment complex, so it was no trouble."

Bian Yan immediately unwrapped one and took a bite, instantly feeling that life was worth living. With hot steam filling his mouth, he mumbled, "You're the best, Yu Nian. I'll transfer you the money in a bit."

Yu Nian quickly said, "No need. You save me a seat all the time, and I haven't even thanked you."

Bian Yan grinned. "All right, we're buddies. No need to get formal. I'll treat you to a meal sometime."

"Oh, right. Have you eaten?"

"I ate on the way," Yu Nian joked. "You should thank me for having such good self-control. Otherwise, your share would've ended up in my stomach too."

Bian Yan paused mid-chew. There were two portions of Glutinous Rice Chicken in the bag, so he took one out and handed it to Yu Nian. "Did you not get enough? Here, take this."

Seeing his earnest, silly expression, Yu Nian couldn't help laughing. "I'm kidding. I'm full."

"Go on, eat. Class is about to start."

Only then did Bian Yan get back to eating.

Like Yu Nian, Bian Yan came from the countryside, and his family wasn't well-off either.

They used to arrange to work part-time together, but once Yu Nian could support himself by streaming games, he stopped joining him.

Bian Yan had only congratulated him with envy, never making any snide remarks, so Yu Nian enjoyed hanging out with him.

By the time Bian Yan finished eating, the other students had trickled in, filling more than half the classroom.

Bian Yan said smugly, "Good thing I got here early and grabbed seats in the middle."

As they were talking, a commotion suddenly broke out by the classroom door. Bian Yan stood up and craned his neck to look. "Holy shit!"

Yu Nian stayed seated and asked, "What is it?"

Bian Yan was about to answer when something occurred to him. He sat back down and lowered his voice. "It's Qin Yu!"

Yu Nian froze for a moment. Bian Yan grew nervous. "What's going on? Isn't he in the business school? What's he doing here?"

Yu Nian knew Bian Yan was thinking of the gossip he'd heard earlier. Having also learned that Yu Nian and Qin Yu had fallen out, he was afraid Qin Yu had come to cause trouble.

Yu Nian reassured him, "It's fine. Maybe he's just here to sit in on the class... I guess."

His last few words grew quieter and quieter, because he saw Qin Yu walking toward him.

Seeing that all the seats around Yu Nian were taken, Qin Yu asked the student behind him if they could switch seats. The student was still hesitating when Qin Yu pulled a thousand yuan from his pocket.

The student behind Yu Nian said, "Right away! All yours, Qin Yu!"

After a flurry of hurried footsteps and whispers from the people nearby, Qin Yu sat down behind him.

Bian Yan swallowed and whispered, "Talk about loaded."

"I'm pretty sure he's here for you. My seat's better, so why didn't he ask me to switch?"

Yu Nian had been a little nervous, but at that, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "You'd sell me out for a thousand yuan?"

Bian Yan chuckled. "Of course not. We'd split it fifty-fifty."

Yu Nian gave him a light kick under the desk. "Gee, thanks."

Qin Yu said nothing after sitting down. Bian Yan trembled in the row ahead of him. "I take it back. Now I just want him to leave."

Yu Nian swallowed. He couldn't figure out what Qin Yu wanted. Had he really come to teach him a lesson, like Bian Yan said?

Qin Yu was on the university basketball team. He was tall, well-built, and strong. If he punched Yu Nian, Yu Nian would probably end up in the hospital.

Qin Yu was so well-known that plenty of people kept stealing glances in their direction. Naturally, Yu Nian wasn't foolish enough to ask him what was going on right then.

Soon it was time for class. The elderly professor walked in with his books and adjusted his glasses as he looked around. Seeing that plenty of students were there, he skipped roll call, opened his book, and began the lesson.

Yu Nian listened attentively, but every so often, he could feel the gaze on his back, leaving him irritated.

Whatever Qin Yu had come for, he was seriously disrupting Yu Nian.

Besides, they'd already broken up. Any normal person would know to keep their distance, wouldn't they?

After breaking up with Qin Yu, Yu Nian had thrown himself into his own affairs and forgotten to delete him from his contacts.

He opened his message list and found Qin Yu's name.

Yu Nian: What are you doing here?

Qin Yu: Can't I attend a class?

Yu Nian didn't reply again.

Qin Yu had been stewing for days. He hadn't seen Yu Nian around campus lately either, and he kept feeling frustrated.

He still couldn't believe Yu Nian had broken up with him just like that, so he'd decided to come corner him.

Now that Yu Nian had messaged him first, he couldn't help wondering whether Yu Nian still couldn't let him go, and unconsciously started putting on airs.

Seeing Yu Nian put his phone down again, he frowned in displeasure.

Qin Yu: Why aren't you answering?

Qin Yu: Yu Nian.

Qin Yu: Don't pretend you didn't see this. I'm right behind you.

Yu Nian: I'm in class!

Yu Nian found him utterly unreasonable and suddenly regretted not blocking him immediately after their breakup.

After sending that, he put his phone in airplane mode and picked up his pen to continue taking notes.

During the ten-minute break, Qin Yu kicked his seat, trying to make him turn around and talk to him.

Yu Nian held back his temper and took out his phone to message Qin Yu.

Yu Nian: If you're here for the lecture, then pay attention. Could you stop bothering me?

Qin Yu: I'm here for you.

Yu Nian didn't want to argue with him.

Yu Nian: Whatever it is, we'll talk after the next class.

Yu Nian: Say anything else and I'll block you.

Qin Yu couldn't help clenching his fists when he saw that message.

Qin Yu: Are you threatening me?

A red exclamation mark appeared beside the message.

Qin Yu: ...

Whether his threat had worked or not, Qin Yu did indeed refrain from making any more big moves during the second half of class.

Yu Nian finished the lesson in peace.

Knowing there was no getting away today, he simply stayed in the classroom and waited for the professor and the other students to leave.

A few nosy people wanted to stay and watch the drama, but one glare from Qin Yu sent them slinking away.

Bian Yan looked at the two of them, a little nervous.

Qin Yu knew he was Yu Nian's roommate and tilted his head toward the door. "You leave too."

Bian Yan swallowed and cautiously tried to persuade him. "Qin Yu, keeping the peace is good for everyone. Whatever it is, just talk it out."

Yu Nian took hold of Bian Yan and reassured him. "It's fine. You go ahead. I'll talk to him."

Bian Yan glanced at Yu Nian and only reluctantly left after receiving a reassuring look.

"I'll wait for you outside." He pointed at the phone in his hand, indicating that Yu Nian should message him if anything happened.

With only the two of them left in the classroom, Yu Nian stood and looked at him coolly. "What do you want to say?"

Qin Yu frowned in displeasure. "Are you still mad?"
