Shi Yuan got up late that morning. By the time he had washed up and come downstairs for breakfast, Wei Zelin had already left. Rubbing his aching lower back, he slouched against his dining chair, feeling uncomfortable all over. Who knew what had gotten into Wei Zelin last night? He had kept Shi Yuan up until the early hours.
"Good morning, young boss."
Only after finishing breakfast did Shi Yuan notice a group of people waiting silently in the living room.
Pan Ying was at their head.
"Sister Ying, what brings you here? Did he leave something at home?" Shi Yuan asked, puzzled.
Pan Ying wore her usual crisp skirt suit. Holding a stack of documents, she said respectfully, "The boss asked me to come..." Before she could finish, the phone in her bag rang.
"Yes, the young boss is awake." She exchanged a few respectful words with the person on the other end, then handed the phone to Shi Yuan.
Shi Yuan took it and heard the familiar voice he had expected.
"You're awake? Have you had breakfast?" Pages rustled on Wei Zelin's end.
Shi Yuan said, "I just finished. Why did you send Sister Ying over?"
Wei Zelin's voice came through with a smile. "Didn't you say yesterday that you wanted to apply for a master's program? I asked Sister Ying to prepare some materials for you. There are also a few small holdings to transfer into your name, so I'll need your signature. They'll give you some spending money so you can enjoy yourself when you go out with your friends."
Shi Yuan understood what he meant. Both touched and shy, he couldn't find anything to say for a while.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
Afraid he would overthink it, Wei Zelin began speaking a little faster.
