I Want Yu Qingchuan

Throughout his workday, Lu Shiming kept running through ways to help his brother-in-law fight for his share of the family fortune.

He had heard about the Yu Corporation's situation through his coworkers' everyday chatter. Yu Qingluo was currently working at the President’s Office and, barring any surprises, would eventually take over the Yu Corporation. His sister-in-law, meanwhile, was just a poor, neglected outsider.

Originally, Lu Shiming had thought that was fine. For one thing, Yu Qingluo was quite capable. For another, he might not even sign on here after graduation; he was only an intern right now.

But now, Lu Shiming felt something was wrong. They were both Yu Chenyi's sons. How could he favor one so blatantly over the other?

Besides, he didn't have a very good impression of Yu Qingluo. After all, Yu Qingluo had criticized his own older brother's temper in front of an outsider like him.

After work that evening, Lu Shiming immediately headed downstairs. Brother Yao's driver was already waiting outside. He opened the door and got in, and the driver greeted him. "Young Master Lu."

"Good afternoon, Uncle Zhang," Lu Shiming said. "Are we going to pick up Brother Yao?"

"Yes. The dinner starts in an hour, but President Liang is still in a meeting. We'll go to Xingyi first and wait for him."

Lu Shiming made an OK gesture and leaned back against the seat, conserving his energy for the big battle that evening.

The Yu Corporation wasn't far from the Liang Group; both were in the same business district, only a little over ten minutes apart by car. But the evening rush-hour traffic delayed them, so it took a little longer to reach the building.

The driver asked whether Lu Shiming wanted to wait upstairs. Lu Shiming shook his head. He was fine waiting down here.

Before long, a man in a burgundy suit jacket and crisply pressed black trousers approached the car. He, too, stood over 185 centimeters tall. His narrow, foxlike eyes tilted upward at the corners, lending him a rakish charm. At a glance, he looked like a wealthy playboy who drifted through life without a care.

Lu Shiming quickly got out to open the door for him, greeting him with a smile. "Brother Yao."

"Shiming." Liang Xingyao's handsome face looked a little haggard. He grabbed Lu Shiming and poured out his woes. "When is Shiyi going to wake up? I really can't take this anymore."

The Liang Group behind Liang Xingyao was also a top-tier family conglomerate, and Liang Xingyao had been one of its heirs. But he loved freedom and an easy life by nature and hated being tied down, so he had given up his inheritance rights and used his accumulated dividends to establish Starbright International. Rather than operating businesses himself, he worked as an angel investor.

Lu Shiyi had a razor-sharp eye and exceptional ability. Almost every project he handled turned a profit, and several had even become runaway successes. Liang Xingyao could lounge around in comfort and enjoy watching his bank balance grow by the day. To secure a talent of Lu Shiyi's caliber, Liang Xingyao had bought up a fifteen-percent stake and gifted it to him outright.

But after Lu Shiyi's car accident, Liang Xingyao had been forced to take over. The exhaustion of working nonstop made his life miserable, and he called Lu Shiming almost every day to ask whether Lu Shiyi had woken up.

Hearing this, Lu Shiming thought, My brother has already woken up, but his condition still isn't very stable.

His brother had told him to keep it secret, so he couldn't tell Liang Xingyao just yet. Instead, he said, "My brother will definitely wake up."

Even if only for his brother-in-law's sake, his brother wouldn't bear to stay asleep forever.

He actually really wanted to share the news that his brother was in love with someone. Hehe.

"To be honest, I don't want to spend one more day at this damned job." Liang Xingyao looked utterly defeated. "Why don't you just come to Xingyi? I'll give you shares too."

Liang Xingyao knew that Lu Shiming was also exceptionally capable.

But Lu Shiming felt he still lacked experience. If he rashly took over his brother's work, he might well mess it up. Still, Brother Yao really had been good to them, and Lu Shiming didn't know how to turn him down. He could only change the subject for now. "Brother Yao, how did the evaluation of the Yu Corporation's project go?"

Yu Chenyi had personally led the team for this project. As an intern, Lu Shiming had never been involved.

Liang Xingyao remained dejected. "It's viable, of course. Your brother was the one who first looked into this project. He said it would turn a profit. That's the only reason I agreed to meet Yu Chenyi."

As he spoke, he suddenly remembered what Lu Shiming had asked him that morning. "You said you were dating Yu Chenyi's eldest son and wanted me to help him? What's he like as a person? How capable is he?"

Lu Shiming, his brother-in-law's devoted fan, immediately launched into a dazzling array of praise.

Beautiful inside and out, incredibly talented, gentle and kind-the list went on. He practically heaped every lovely word in existence onto his brother-in-law.

Liang Xingyao suppressed a laugh. "You like him that much?"

"Yes!" Lu Shiming nodded emphatically. The first thing his brother had done after struggling to wake up was ask him to handle his brother-in-law's problems. That love could move heaven and earth!

Wait. His brother had been unconscious for three months. How had he known what his brother-in-law was doing?

Lu Shiming frowned, realizing there was more to this than met the eye.

Could his brother have been aware of the outside world?

Lu Shiming had looked into it and knew that people in a vegetative state very rarely perceived the outside world. Their consciousness was trapped deep within their bodies, leaving them with nothing but loneliness, day after day.

The doctors had previously determined that his brother was in a complete vegetative state.

But his brother had woken up, so perhaps perceiving a little of the outside world wasn't that strange, Lu Shiming thought. What still rankled was that his brother wouldn't let his brother-in-law cook for him!

Still, if he helped his brother-in-law tonight, asking for one dinner wouldn't be too much, would it?

And considering how completely his brother was wrapped around his partner's finger, perhaps he would listen to his brother-in-law from now on!

Heaven had finally shown some mercy. At last, there was someone who could keep his brother in line!

Lu Shiming nearly wept with joy. He absolutely had to do his best to help his brother-in-law!

With that thought, Lu Shiming said to Liang Xingyao, "Brother Yao, if you help my sister-in-law... help Qingchuan get back his rightful share of the family fortune, both of us brothers would be happy to work for you from now on!"

Hearing this, Liang Xingyao grew thoughtful too. Was this Yu Qingchuan really that captivating?

He rather wanted to meet him.

"All right, I know what to do." Liang Xingyao smiled, as though he could once again see his carefree life beckoning. "I'll do my best to help him."

"Thank you, Brother Yao!"

So when they arrived at the private dining room, exchanged pleasantries with Yu Chenyi, and took their seats, Liang Xingyao's very first words were, "President Yu, your son-I mean Qingchuan-I hear he's a fine young man, and he's dating Shiming too. Why not put Qingchuan in charge of this project? If things work out, we can establish a long-term partnership."

Yu Qingluo, who had accompanied Yu Chenyi, instantly stiffened.

Yu Chenyi froze too, wondering whether he had misheard. He turned a scrutinizing gaze toward Lu Shiming.

Lu Shiming spoke with easy confidence. "President Yu, Qingchuan will become part of my family. He has always been outstanding, and I hope you'll consider it."

"Qingchuan has never been particularly interested in business." Yu Chenyi frowned slightly, though he kept a smile on his face. "My second son, Qingluo, on the other hand, is very talented. If you're willing to offer him a little guidance, President Liang, I'm sure he won't disappoint you."

But after several years of growth, Starbright International now controlled an enormous pool of capital. These days, whoever had the money called the shots.

And so Liang Xingyao said bluntly, "I want Yu Qingchuan."
