Background / History

Yu Qingluo was born after Su Ningyue married Yu Chenyi. Although Yu Chenyi had initially ruled out having more children to preserve his eldest son’s position, Su Ningyue used Yu Qingchuan’s loneliness as an excuse to engineer an “accidental” pregnancy 8 56.

From childhood, Su Ningyue taught Qingluo to regard his older brother as a rival. She insisted that exceptional accomplishments were necessary to win their father’s affection and a larger inheritance. Qingluo attended piano, calligraphy, and painting lessons while being expected to place among his school’s top three students on every examination. He initially envied Qingchuan’s freedom from those demands, then came to regard him as frivolous and unlikable 21.

An academic prodigy, Qingluo skipped several grades and became Qingchuan’s school senior despite being a year younger. He later interned in the Yu Corporation’s President’s Office, accompanied his father to banquets, and was widely expected to inherit the company 20 25.

Original Novel’s Romance

In the original plot, Qingluo and Lu Shiming are the central couple. Together, they disrupt the original Yu Qingchuan’s attempt to force an engagement with Shiming. The transmigrated Qingchuan’s decision to pursue Lu Shiyi instead changes that sequence and delays the canonical romance 17 36 64.

Misunderstanding Lu Shiming’s Relationship

After meeting Lu Shiming outside the Yu villa, Qingluo suspects that Qingchuan has coerced him. When his father asks him to investigate, he offers Shiming a way out, only to be firmly told that the two get along well 10 20 21.

Su Ningyue subsequently urges Qingluo to exploit opportunities to separate them. However, when photographs of Qingchuan with Lu Shiyi circulate, Qingluo notices that Shiming is neither hurt nor angry. Recognizing that he lacks the full story, he refuses to approach Shiming as his mother requested—the first time he disobeys her 28 31 32.

Breaking from His Mother’s Control

Learning that Su Ningyue framed Qingchuan shocks Qingluo, who had believed their competition should be fair. Lu Shiming later warns him against becoming his mother’s puppet and urges him to build an independent life 55 56 58.

Qingluo moves into his own apartment with his father’s approval. When Su Ningyue demands to know how he will compete with his brother outside the family home, he admits that he is exhausted by the rivalry and asks to stop 58.

After Su Ningyue’s harm to Qingchuan is exposed, Qingluo chooses to leave with her and withdraws from the Yu Corporation. Reconciliation and the Hotel Attack

After joining a senior’s studio as a consultant, Qingluo is drugged with a muscle relaxant and taken to a hotel room by Tang Ronglin. Lu Shiming and Liang Xingyao intervene before Tang can assault him. At the hospital, doctors confirm that he has no other injuries; Qingchuan then accompanies him home and agrees to share his bed for reassurance 73 74.

The investigation reveals that Su Ningyue paid Tang to frighten Qingluo into returning to the Yu family. Qingluo signs the paperwork admitting her to a secure care facility. He declines an invitation to return to the Yu Corporation and instead joins Xingyi, where his projects succeed 75 77.

Becoming Lu Shiming’s Boyfriend

While Lu Shiyi and Qingchuan are absent, Qingluo comforts the increasingly lonely Shiming with companionship and meals. Shiming begins recognizing his kindness and considering him as a romantic partner 82.
