Background / History

Wei Ziyun comes from the wealthy Wei family, whose friendship with the Feng family spans generations. He and Feng Wanting grew up together and remain close friends 11 121.

His parents divorced and both formed new families. His mother moved abroad with her current husband, while Ziyun stayed with his father. His father’s second marriage produced Wei Yinchen, who is eighteen during the events of Ziyun’s extra chapters. Ziyun describes himself as unwanted by his mother and displaced within his father’s household 134 136.

Ziyun says he built Qingwei Technology single-handedly. His position nevertheless remains vulnerable to his father’s authority: after Ziyun ruins a longstanding business relationship, his father transfers control of the company to Yinchen, freezes his bank funds, and confines him at home 134 136.

Ziyun is extravagant, flirtatious, and habitually foul-mouthed. Male models and minor celebrities frequently accompany him, and he openly prefers flashy, heavily styled men. His nightclub private room is furnished with imported leather and gilded trim, reflecting his taste for conspicuous luxury 5 26.

He treats his dating experience as a qualification to advise Feng Wanting, but his confidence repeatedly exceeds his judgment. His suggestions range from finding a Pei Yang look-alike to interpreting Pei Yang’s distance as “playing hard to get.” When confronted with the consequences, he can become apologetic, defensive, or threatening 26 29 45 59.

Despite his careless manner, he remains available when Feng Wanting needs practical help. Yin Sufang exposes a more vulnerable side: Ziyun becomes jealous, resents being dumped, and admits that he has slept with nobody since their breakup. By their final extra chapter, he values Yin Sufang’s companionship more than his former nightclub entertainment 76 121 122 136 139.

Feng Wanting’s pursuit of Pei Yang

• Ziyun hears about Feng Wanting’s first sexual encounter and explains that the eight hundred yuan left behind means his partner treated him as a paid escort 5.
• While browsing a short-video app, he finds a photograph tagged at FK Exhibitions. Feng recognizes Pei Yang, giving him the lead needed to locate his missing partner 11.
• Ziyun brings Feng to a nightclub to test whether other men can attract him. When none appeal to Feng, Ziyun posts Pei Yang’s photograph in the club’s members’ group chat to find a look-alike stand-in 26 29.
• The scheme backfires when Pei Yang appears at the club. Ziyun apologizes to Feng and offers to explain; at Feng’s request, he instead has someone follow the intoxicated Pei Yang to check his safety 28 29.
• He later takes responsibility for arranging the club outing and claims that Feng sought another man’s WeChat on his behalf. When Pei Yang remains indifferent, Ziyun calls him a “medicinal catalyst,” contributing to Pei’s fear that Feng values him only as a treatment 45 81.

First relationship with Yin Sufang

• After paying Feng and Pei’s barbecue bill and driving them home, Ziyun asks Pei for Yin Sufang’s WeChat. Pei refuses to facilitate the match, concerned that Yin might be hurt 76.
• He encounters Yin at Feng’s office and admits that he likes him. Yin readily agrees to date him, then introduces him to Pei as his boyfriend despite needing to ask his name again 90 91.
• Their relationship lasts only seven hours. Ziyun later says this is the first time anyone has dumped him 121 122.
• His attachment persists after the breakup. He drags Yin off a gay-bar stage, becomes jealous of Yin’s concern for Pei and proposed approach to Wu Rui, and forces a kiss on him 102 103 122.

Feng Wanting’s investigation and Pei Yang’s hospitalization

• When the Discipline Inspection Commission takes Feng away, Ziyun explains that he cannot obtain Feng’s release. He suggests approaching Uncle Feng and subsequently takes Pei to Liu Ke in hopes that she can persuade her husband 103 104.
• The visit produces no solution: Liu Ke has already tried to persuade Uncle Feng, who refuses to help 106.
• During Pei’s coma, Ziyun visits the hospital at Liu Ke’s request and warns Feng about leaving FK unattended. He agrees to represent Feng at an important contract signing so Feng can stay beside Pei 121.
• When Yin asks where Pei is, Ziyun initially claims that Pei and Feng are on their honeymoon. After further confrontation, he agrees to reveal the truth 122 123.

Little Soft Peach and reconciliation

• Following his confinement, Ziyun becomes a major donor to streamer Little Soft Peach, whose appearance reminds him of Yin. He spends his remaining Alipay balance on the streams, unaware that the streamer is Yin in disguise 134 135.
• To attend their arranged meeting, he climbs down from the villa’s third floor using knotted bedding. Feng distracts his father while Pei drives him through security and leaves him Feng’s car 134.
• Ziyun recognizes Yin at the restaurant. Over dinner, he complains about their breakup and reveals his family troubles before becoming drunk enough that Yin takes him to a hotel 135 136.
