An hour had passed by the time the Old Charlatan and the other mages finished recording everything, severed the Infernal Soul's connection to its anchor in the Twisting Nether, and put away the shattered fel stones and the Infernal Soul.
Next, they naturally brought up another captive Orc Warlock to summon a second Infernal. With their first attempt behind them, the second went even more smoothly. The summoned Infernal crashed into the bottom of the crater left by the first and was immediately held fast by the Binding Magic Array.
But the six Bodyguards from Yu Lin Bloodhawk's first group had yet to fully assimilate the power they had absorbed, so they had to send in the second test group.
The second test group consisted of Medium-Magic Rangers, with three drawn from Shidewa's squad and three from Xingluoge's. This was not because too few people were willing to participate. On the contrary, so many wanted to take part and grow stronger that Shidewa and Xingluoge had agreed to take three slots each.
This time, everyone had learned their lesson. All six Medium-Magic Rangers in the second test group absorbed the Infernal's fel energy at once. But their magical aptitude was indeed inferior to that of High-Magic Rangers. Even with all six absorbing the second summoned Infernal's fel energy together, the gap between medium and high magical aptitude was enormous. They took twice as long as the High-Magic Rangers, yet according to the Elf Mages' estimates, they had drained only about a third of the Infernal's fel power.
After the Old Charlatan, Sylvanas, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk discussed the matter, Yu Lin Bloodhawk had Shidewa and Xingluoge select another twelve Medium-Magic Rangers to come in and absorb the Infernal's fel energy together. This time, the Infernal finally could not withstand it.
