"Use the entire Hillsbrad region as the battlefield for the decisive showdown? Hmm, it really was time for Supreme Command to make up its mind.
As long as the Allied Army held Southshore, it would effectively control the northern bridge crossing over the great river leading into northern Hillsbrad. Even if the orcs managed to besiege Southshore and enter northern Hillsbrad for a time,
they would inevitably come under attack from the Kingdom of Lordaeron's armies to the north, the mage forces of Dalaran to the northeast, and the Kingdom of Alterac's armies directly to the east. They would also have to worry about a sudden sortie from Southshore seizing the Great Bridge and cutting off the orcs' supplies completely."
The elf commander gave a wry smile. "But that would probably put much more pressure on us in the Hinterlands!"
"The Hinterlands?" Daelin looked at the elf commander.
"Yes! Beyond Arathi's northern border lies the Durnholde area, south of the great river in central Hillsbrad. Behind Durnholde Prison is Aerie Peak, the western entrance to the Hinterlands.
The Wildhammer Dwarves' newly built city is there too. The trouble is that Aerie Peak has a narrow path that bypasses every Allied Army defensive line and leads straight behind all the Alliance armies, right into the Andorhal region deep in the Kingdom of Lordaeron's rear."
The elf commander said, "We're worried that after taking Durnholde, the orc army might be stopped north of Hillsbrad's great river and send a detachment into the Hinterlands.
If they discover that narrow path into the Kingdom of Lordaeron's rear and concentrate their forces to break through, all the strong defensive lines the Allied Army has established throughout Hillsbrad will become useless.
The orcs could bypass every Allied Army defensive line in Hillsbrad and reach the Alliance
