At that moment, the Alliance and the Orcs were locked in a delicate stalemate. If Hinterlands suddenly offered its full support, it would give Alliance morale an enormous boost. Even politically, a sudden offensive from The Hinterlands would carry tremendous significance.
If they could reach a comprehensive agreement with Hinterlands, the stalemate against the Orcs would surely be broken, creating a situation overwhelmingly favorable to the Alliance.
The benefit would not merely be the boost to the Combined Army's morale from the vast supplies Hinterlands could provide. More important was The Hinterlands' geographical position.
The exit from Hinterlands lay right in the Durnholde region.
Where was Durnholde? It lay on the border between the Kingdom of Arathi and the Kingdom of Lordaeron, behind the main Orc force advancing north. More importantly, every supply shipment for that northbound force had to pass through it.
If The Hinterlands suddenly struck and severed the supply lines of the main Orc force advancing north, those attacking troops would inevitably lose heart and suffer a collapse in morale.
It would be even better if the army from Hinterlands could then push north, seize the only bridge across the Hillsbrad River, and coordinate with Southshore's garrison to attack the Orc troops besieging the town.
Once the Orc siege forces outside Southshore were routed, that main force advancing north would become an isolated army, with neither reinforcements nor supplies.
By then, the morale of those northbound Orc troops would sink to rock bottom. Facing the Allied Army Main Force with its soaring spirits, they would surely be unable to hold out alone. Wiping out that isolated force would be no great difficulty for the Allied Army.
As for how the war would unfold afterward, Lothar felt even more confident that he could drive the Orcs back to
