Only about a thousand Quilboar had emerged from the cave. Their equipment was already crude, and they had no tactical order whatsoever. At the call to attack, they charged in a chaotic jumble toward the High Elf Rangers on three sides. In the Rangers' eyes, these Quilboar were simply throwing their lives away.
The High Elf Rangers were nothing like these Quilboar. They were all well-trained elites. Even if the City Lord's Household Guard fell a little short of that standard, they were still far beyond anything these Quilboar could match.
After the first rain of arrows, at least a fifth of the charging Quilboar fell in swathes. Some died outright, while others lay wounded on the ground, howling in pain.
But the Quilboar were a stubborn, resilient race. Despite seeing so many of their companions killed or wounded, they did not stop charging. Call them reckless or call them stupid, they simply charged straight ahead without a care. Even faced with the countless arrows the High Elves sent raining down like dark clouds, not one of them showed any fear.
Yu Lin Bloodhawk began to admire the Quilboar's tenacity, yet he also deeply despised their stupidity. What the hell was courage alone good for? If they didn't use their brains, weren't they just coming here to die? The High Elf Rangers certainly would not stop attacking out of respect for the Quilboar's courage and resolve.
"Lofted volley! Ready!" Sure enough, the High Elf Ranger commanders on every side began shouting again.
Creak! Creak! Creak! Creak!
The sound of countless heavy bows being drawn at once raised goosebumps on everyone who heard it.
"Ready..." the High Elf officers called again, their arms raised high. "Loose!"
The High Elf Ranger officers lowered their raised arms almost simultaneously.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
