As soon as Yu Lin Bloodhawk finished speaking, Sylvanas raised her hand to halt the troops.
"Something wrong?" Daelin asked as he caught up.
"The orcs have sent a hundred-man scouting party our way," Sylvanas said. "We shouldn't reveal our heavy infantry yet. General Daelin, keep your men here for now. The Bloodhawk City Lord and I will take two hundred Steel Torrent troops and wipe them out. Then you can follow with the rest."
"Huh? I have to go too?" Yu Lin Bloodhawk asked in surprise.
"Obviously! They're your troops. Who's supposed to lead them if you don't?" Sylvanas said.
...Now you admit they're my troops? When there's work to do, they're mine. When there isn't, they aren't. Yu Lin Bloodhawk rolled his eyes at Sylvanas.
Daelin nodded silently.
Sylvanas and Yu Lin Bloodhawk each led a hundred Steel Torrent troops into the darkness.
A little while later...
A burst of muffled screams suddenly rose from deep within the dense forest ahead-the orc party had run into the Dire Wolf Rangers and Owl Rangers lying in ambush.
"Enemy attack!"
"It's an ambush!"
"Shields up! Shields up! Damn it, elf rangers!"
"There aren't many of them! Kill them!"
The orcs' startled cries, shouts, and orders mingled in confusion, along with plenty of muffled grunts as arrows struck home.
Sylvanas raised her hand, signaling the hundred Steel Torrent troops behind her to stop. "Form up!"
Meanwhile, Yu Lin Bloodhawk, who had taken a hundred Steel Torrent troops into the woods on the other side, made the same decision. "Battle pets, form up! Rangers, take cover! Once the orcs come over, the battle pets will break their formation. Rangers, fire at will."
A short while later, the clamorous shouting ahead gradually subsided.
It wasn't because all hundred orcs had been killed.
