Yu Lin Bloodhawk blew a long whistle, signaling the start of the free hunt. One squad of the Steel Torrent, consisting of ten Bloodfang Boars in a charge formation, would remain watchfully beneath the great trees to prevent the Orcs from regrouping. The other unit members were free to form their own groups and hunt.
As soon as he finished whistling, he darted swiftly between the trees. He had set his sights on the Orc leader who kept shouting orders, a Common Warrior and High-Class Practitioner. But the leader was some distance away, hidden behind a tree and out of sight. Yu Lin Bloodhawk was so eager to find him that he could not even be bothered to jump down. Relying on his Elven agility, he raced from tree to tree under cover of night, each leap leaving only a fleeting afterimage.
But when Yu Lin Bloodhawk reached the Orc leader, he found two Bloodfang Boars blocking his path. He had no choice but to stay hidden and watch. If two Bloodfang Boars had targeted the Orc, that meant two Elf Rangers were watching him from the darkness as well. There were too many hunters and too little prey. Only a hundred Orcs had come out, and the first ambush had left just sixty or seventy. After another ambush and the Bloodfang Boars' savage charge, there could not be many left. Yu Lin Bloodhawk could hardly steal someone else's kill.
When the Orcs scattered, the Elf Rangers naturally had tactics to match, spreading out themselves. The forest at night was their domain. Keen hearing and night vision far superior to that of most races gave the Elves the freedom to hunt in darkness. The muffled grunts of Orcs that rose now and then from the shadows were the best proof.
