Ch. 321An old friend he hadn't seen in ages

Yu Lin Bloodhawk planned a pirate-flagged attack on the Bloodsail Buccaneers and discussed how to capture their ships. He then gathered his officers to devise a way to make Grim teach the Elf Forces the Orc Wolf Riders’ netting techniques, and ended by offering Grim a drink.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk agreed with Fourteen to target the Bloodsail Buccaneers under pirate flags and set preparations for a naval assault with Thirteen, the Gryphon Riders, and the Elf Forces.
  • Fourteen offered to seek intelligence from the Blackwater Raiders, while Yu Lin Bloodhawk told him to finish his duties and recruit rogues trained by Sixteen and Seventeen.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk summoned the senior officers and asked them to find a way to make captured Orc Wolf Riders teach the elves how to use nets.
  • The officers debated proposals, then refined Yu Lin Bloodhawk’s plan before leaving the meeting.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk received Grim, the captured Orc Wolf Riders’ leader, and offered him ale or fruit wine; Grim chose ale.

Ch. 322Too much roast meat is bad for you-it gives you heatiness!

Yu Lin Bloodhawk offered the captured orc Grim a different job: teaching the elves to use orc nets for catching beasts. Grim refused, so Yu Lin arranged to test whether Grim’s soldiers would agree to teach, and they arrived at War God Square to watch the men being questioned.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk told Grim that the orcs had captured Stormwind City and asked whether he would teach the elves to use their nets.
  • Grim refused and insisted that none of his fifty men would teach the technique.
  • Yu Lin proposed testing Grim’s soldiers’ loyalty and forbade Grim from warning or intimidating them during the test.
  • Yu Lin and Grim arrived at War God Square, where the soldiers were being tested, and sat down to eat.
  • Grim asked for roast meat and ale, and Yu Lin offered him several kinds of meat while warning that too much roast meat caused heatiness.

Ch. 323I Haven't Eaten Meat in a Year

Yu Lin Bloodhawk used different meals and conversations to test how Grim’s orcs felt about their chief and to persuade them to teach the elves their net technique. After the meal distribution, the barriers were screened off, leaving the orcs unable to see one another.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk and Grim ate together while the orcs were questioned separately behind soundproof barriers.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk ordered food for everyone and explained that the different meal grades were part of his test of the orcs’ loyalty to Grim.
  • An elf told an orc with a poor meal that he could have chosen better food by agreeing to teach the Squadron the net technique.
  • An elf urged an orc with an average meal to eat quickly before his food was replaced, and the orc gulped it down.
  • Elves screened off the soundproof barriers, preventing the orcs from seeing one another.
  • An elf threatened to take away a trusted follower’s good meal, so the orc quickly ate his roast meat and drank his ale.

Ch. 324Roast Meat and Wine

Yu Lin Bloodhawk and Grim ate and chatted while persuaders punished orcs who refused to teach the Net-Catching Technique by giving them prisoner rations. By dinner, the orcs were isolated and left uncertain whether they were being treated equally, while none had agreed to teach.

  • An elf told Grim's confidant that orcs refusing to teach the Net-Catching Technique would receive prisoner rations, and hinted that other captives had also complained about the food.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk let Grim keep the roast hawkstrider he had ordered after persuaders demanded that he, too, be treated as a captive.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk asked Grim why the orcs had come to their world, and Grim explained that fel pollution had left his people without enough food.
  • The elves, trolls, and orcs spent the day talking inside soundproof barriers, but no orc agreed to teach the Net-Catching Technique.
  • The cooks served the orcs prisoner rations in isolation, leaving them unsure whether their comrades had received the same food.

Ch. 325You agreed to teach our Squadron?

An orc prisoner, worn down by poor rations and the prospect of returning alone to the Quarry, decided he would teach the elves the Net-Catching Technique. The elf asked whether he had agreed to teach their Squadron, leaving the orc’s answer unresolved.

  • The elves and trolls ate well while the orcs worried over their worsening rations and suspected Grim and his confidants had agreed to teach the elves.
  • Inside a Soundproof Barrier, an elf and two trolls discussed His Lordship’s battles, including his victories over orcs and the heavy losses he inflicted.
  • As midnight approached, an elf left to ask the cooks about the snack, and an orc prisoner envied the others’ food and feared being left alone at the Quarry.
  • The orc decided to teach the elves rather than keep eating Prisoner Meals, and the elf turned back to ask whether he had agreed to teach their Squadron.

Ch. 326So Many People Ordered Roast Meat!

An orc agreed to teach the Net-Catching Technique and learned he could order roast meat, ale, and fruit as an instructor. Yu Lin Bloodhawk learned that many orcs had accepted the same offer, prompting Grim to protest before two trolls threatened him into silence.

  • The orc agreed to teach the Net-Catching Technique and ordered a roast hawkstrider leg, ale, and apples.
  • The orc learned that the elves and trolls could choose military kitchen set meals, and he discussed Draenor's food and wildlife with them.
  • An elf told Yu Lin Bloodhawk that the cooks had run short of hawkstrider meat because the orcs had ordered roast hawkstrider.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk asked Grim why orcs had ordered the dish, and Grim said Draenor had no hawkstriders.
  • Grim shouted in disbelief when he learned that the orcs who ordered roast hawkstrider had agreed to teach the technique, and two trolls drew their swords against his neck.
  • Grim asked how many orcs had agreed, and an elf said only eleven servings of prison rations remained, including his.

Ch. 327Sometimes You Only Got One Chance

Grim faced the consequences of refusing to teach the Net-Catching Technique, while Yu Lin Bloodhawk expanded the elves’ training and preparations. The chapter ended with the green-dragon negotiations still stalled and the Elf Forces continuing to prepare for war.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk ordered the cooks to accommodate the orcs’ hawkstrider orders and urged Grim to reconsider his decision, then told him about his own first Household Guard.
  • Grim and ten trusted followers returned to the Quarry as the only orcs left there, while the other orcs who agreed to teach were assigned to elf squadrons.
  • Sylvanas, Alleria, and Mez'dra remained away after more than ten days of negotiations with the green dragons, and Fourteen left for Booty Bay with rogues and trusted followers.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk had each orc train an elf squadron in the Net-Catching Technique, prioritizing those selected for Stranglethorn Vale.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk arranged grain trades with the Vilebranch Trolls and prepared breadfruit seedlings for grafting and transplanting.

Ch. 328Difficult Negotiations

Yu Lin Bloodhawk prepared to remove the Vilebranch Trolls from Quel'Danil Mountain Valley while negotiating their resettlement, and Sylvanas and Alleria returned with an agreement for a neutral city. The chapter left Yu Lin Bloodhawk preparing to go to Stranglethorn Vale once his net-trained elves were ready and the ships were finished.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk arranged for more Farmland Tractors and planned to turn most of Quel'Danil Mountain Valley into grafted breadfruit fields after driving out the Vilebranch Trolls.
  • Vilebranch Troll leaders came to the Harbor to negotiate, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk offered to help rebuild Shalvalsa and provide food and farming instruction in exchange for relocation and later mineral payments.
  • The Quel'Danil Council began negotiating with the Vilebranch leaders while Yu Lin Bloodhawk focused on training elves in the Net-Catching Technique.
  • Sylvanas and Alleria returned with a pact for a neutral city in which the green dragons would control thirty percent of the guards, while elves and dwarves would each control twenty percent and the two troll factions fifteen percent apiece.
  • The first elves had learned to use their nets well enough that Yu Lin Bloodhawk expected them to be ready after more practice, and he asked whether the ships at the Quel'Thalas shipyard had been completed.

Ch. 329The Blood Skull Pirate Crew

Yu Lin Bloodhawk prepared a multinational force to pose as pirates and capture Bloodsail Buccaneer ships, while Sylvanas and Alleria helped organize the expedition. The fleet reached Hakkari Island, where its soldiers learned their mission was to attack three Bloodsail galleons.

  • Alleria recalled the Frostwolf Clan and Brown Wolf Regiments to Quel'Thalas, and Sylvanas stayed behind to join Yu Lin Bloodhawk's pirate venture.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk ordered black skull tabards and assembled troops from the elves, humans, and trolls for the expedition.
  • The Frostwolf Clan and Brown Wolf Regiments sailed for Quel'Thalas, while the remaining Hinterlands troops settled into routine.
  • In late January, Alleria sent nearly 5,000 troops aboard four aircraft carriers, a galleon, and two supply ships toward Stranglethorn Vale.
  • After the fleet reached Hakkari Island, the soldiers donned skull tabards and learned Fourteen's plan to attack three Bloodsail Buccaneer galleons anchored nearby.

Ch. 330The pirate king who commanded from behind the scenes

Yu Lin Bloodhawk's allies launched a surprise assault to capture the Bloodsail Buccaneers' gunships while keeping him behind to guard the fleet. When he woke after drinking himself unconscious, the fleet had acquired four more gunships, and Yu Lin chose to stay away from the military conference and seek comfort in the kitchen.

  • Alleria and Sylvanas organized a coordinated night attack, while they kept Yu Lin Bloodhawk behind to guard the ships.
  • At three thirty in the morning, the Gryphon Riders lifted 150 Shield Warriors and Musketeers into the air, and Sylvanas led them northwest toward the gunships.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk stayed aboard, went fishing without success, then drank alone and passed out.
  • When Yu Lin Bloodhawk woke, the fleet had anchored northwest of Hakkari Island and acquired four additional gunships.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk decided not to join Captain 13's military conference and went to the kitchen to make himself something to eat.

Ch. 331You're even more ruthless than your sister!

Yu Lin Bloodhawk remained frustrated at having little to do as the fleet attacked Bloodsail camps, then negotiated to lead a beast-catching expedition. After Fourteen arranged for Thirteen to take prisoners and spoils to Booty Bay, Yu Lin tried to join the trip and gave Thirteen secret instructions about the gold and buying owls.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk drank alone while fishing, got drunk, and was carried back to his room before Thirteen returned.
  • Thirteen led the fleet toward the Savage Coast, where the troops attacked the Bloodsail gunships and captured the camp by dawn.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk demanded soldiers and gryphon riders to catch gorillas and other beasts, and Alleria approved a reduced force while keeping the Snow Leopard Squad behind.
  • Thirteen contacted Fourteen, who told him to take the three prisoner transports and a gunship to Booty Bay to sell prisoners and unwanted spoils.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk was forbidden from accompanying Thirteen, then told him to conceal some of the gold and ask Fourteen about buying two or three thousand owls.

Ch. 332The Blood Skull Pirates Ran Rampant

Yu Lin Bloodhawk led more than a thousand soldiers toward the gorilla valley while Sylvanas and Alleria turned their fleet into the Blood Skull Pirate Crew and began seizing ships on the way to the Bloodsail Buccaneers’ stronghold. The soldiers established camp in the valley, captured attacking gorillas, and prepared to choose pets, while Gryphon Riders reported that more gorillas lived in the valley and on the surrounding slopes.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk set out for the gorilla valley with more than a thousand soldiers, while twenty Gryphon Riders went ahead to scout.
  • Alleria ordered the fleet to seize ships along the way, and Sylvanas’s officers began capturing vessels and cargo as the Blood Skull Pirate Crew sailed toward the Bloodsail Buccaneers’ stronghold.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk’s troops reached the gorilla valley, established a temporary camp, and used nets and Paralysis Potion to subdue repeated gorilla attacks.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk told the Rangers not to fight over pets and promised that everyone would get a chance to choose one.
  • The Gryphon Riders reported that gorillas lived in groups inside the valley, while displaced kings, mature males, and smaller troops occupied the surrounding slopes.

Ch. 333The dangers of Stranglethorn Vale

Yu Lin Bloodhawk and his Rangers prepared to capture a gorilla troop in Stranglethorn Vale, using poison from the dangerous thorn vines. After surrounding the gorillas and driving them toward camp, the elves finally saw more than thirty running toward their position.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk and his men collected the thorn vines’ paralytic fluid and made plans to capture a troop of roughly fifty to sixty gorillas.
  • At dawn, Yu Lin Bloodhawk led most of the Rangers out, leaving guards at the temporary camp.
  • The Rangers encountered thorn vines and wild animals but avoided danger and marked the vines’ locations on their maps.
  • Some gorillas attacked during the encirclement, and the elves captured them with poisoned arrows and nets.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk’s group joined a drive hunt that forced the gorillas toward the temporary camp.
  • Two days later, more than thirty gorillas ran toward Yu Lin Bloodhawk and his Rangers as the elves made noise around them.

Ch. 334The Roundup

Yu Lin Bloodhawk’s Rangers captured more gorillas using poison, nets, and eventually loud firecrackers, while he weighed the dangers of hunting in Stranglethorn Vale. After a successful roundup of 148 gorillas and more than twenty deer, he prepared to target the next troop.

  • The Rangers captured fifty-two gorillas, bringing their total to sixty-eight, but Yu Lin Bloodhawk worried that their noise-making would leave them hoarse and that Stranglethorn Vale was too dangerous to leave a small force behind.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk sent twenty Gryphon Riders to Booty Bay for gongs, drums, firecrackers, and anything else that could make loud noises, then postponed further roundups until the adult gorillas were tamed and the camp was safer.
  • After five more days, the last adult gorilla was tamed, and the elves moved camp between four gorilla troops before targeting the largest one.
  • The Rangers used drums, firecrackers, and wooden sticks to drive the largest troop toward camp, then captured 148 gorillas and more than twenty young and old deer.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk had Gryphon Riders monitor the other troops while the elves kept quiet for two days; after the troops settled down, he decided to round up the next troop of ninety to a hundred gorillas.

Ch. 335Lainas, get over here! We found your pet!

After capturing gorillas throughout Gorilla Valley, Yu Lin Bloodhawk’s forces began a larger roundup with Alleria and Sylvanas’s help. At the valley’s northern edge, Yu Lin Bloodhawk recalled a Gorilla King in a mountain cave and secretly sent Lainas and rangers to capture it, just as Alleria and Sylvanas came to find him.

  • The elves captured four gorilla groups totaling 436 gorillas and nearly a hundred deer, then rested while taming them.
  • Sylvanas and Alleria arrived with reinforcements after defeating the last large Bloodsail Buccaneers camp and capturing three gunboats.
  • Alleria and Sylvanas expanded the gorilla roundup, and the forces captured five groups before continuing to clear the valley.
  • Dire wolf rangers found a trail to a mountain cave, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk remembered that a Gorilla King lived inside.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk secretly sent Lainas and a hundred rangers into the cave to capture the Gorilla King and other gorillas.
  • After three days, Alleria and Sylvanas came to see Yu Lin Bloodhawk as he prepared to lead his group up the mountain.

Ch. 336We Might as Well Build a Breeding Base

Yu Lin Bloodhawk proposed establishing a wild bear breeding base so the legions could replace fallen bear battle pets. He left Alleria and Sylvanas to consider the plan and its military and logistical obstacles.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk explained that Lainas had gone to catch gorillas and regretted that a rare bear had died without leaving offspring.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk proposed collecting female bears for a breeding base and trading giant gorillas to other legions in exchange for them.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk explained that giant gorillas were powerful but difficult to feed and breed, while bears were easier to supply on expeditions.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk said rangers linked to giant gorillas could switch to other pets and discussed importing up to three thousand owls from Kalimdor.
  • Sylvanas asked where to establish the bear breeding base, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk suggested Shalandis Isle.
  • Alleria and Sylvanas warned that creating an island garrison required approval from the king, the Council, and the Military Department, so Yu Lin Bloodhawk suggested cooperating with an auxiliary legion.

Ch. 337Lainas Must Have Had His Head Flattened by a Door

Alleria and Yu Lin Bloodhawk decided to move the Breeding Farm to the Hinterlands and trade gorillas for female bears. At the cave, Sylvanas persuaded Lainas to exchange his regiment’s gorillas for two hundred male bears, leaving Yu Lin Bloodhawk furious as he walked away.

  • Alleria proposed moving the Breeding Farm to the Hinterlands, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk agreed to trade gorillas for female bears for Quel'Danil City's guards.
  • Alleria and Sylvanas joined Yu Lin Bloodhawk on the difficult journey to a cave guarded by Dire Wolf Rangers, where they found over a hundred gorillas and many elves.
  • Sylvanas asked Lainas whether he preferred bears or gorillas, and Lainas admitted he preferred the war bears he had used before.
  • Sylvanas offered to trade two hundred male bears for Lainas's two hundred gorillas, and Lainas accepted despite Yu Lin Bloodhawk's objections.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk stormed away, upset that Lainas had chosen ordinary bears over his rare gorilla king, while Sylvanas and Alleria reassured Lainas.

Ch. 338When the Encirclement Hunt Failed

Yu Lin Bloodhawk returned to Hakkari Island and led a large roundup, capturing more than 370 gorillas but only about twenty Deep-Throat Cheetahs. Concluding that stealthy predators were too difficult to hunt in troll territory, he decided to seek the four troll factions’ help through trade.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk led the troops back to Hakkari Island to capture the remaining gorillas and Deep-Throat Cheetahs.
  • The elves spent more than twenty days sweeping the island and captured over 370 gorillas but only about twenty Deep-Throat Cheetahs.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk concluded that the elusive cheetahs and tigers were poorly suited to capture by encirclement, especially in dangerous troll territories.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk decided to trade with the troll factions, which might be able to provide the tigers and leopards he wanted.

Ch. 339Show some swagger-don't come back in disgrace!

Yu Lin Bloodhawk planned to trade equipment for tigers and leopards with the Troll factions of Stranglethorn Vale, hoping to strengthen their resistance to Goblin mining. He assigned Zuga and the other Troll leaders to negotiate with the coastal factions first, leaving a later plan for the Gurubashi Trolls.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk and the four Troll leaders concluded that the Stranglethorn Vale Trolls might want weapons and armor, and Yu Lin Bloodhawk realized they could trade equipment for animals.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk promised to supply whatever the Trolls requested and settled on offering one suit of armor for each tiger or leopard.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk decided that Evil Spikes, Broken Tooth, and Evil Fang would sail with separate squadrons to negotiate at coastal gathering points.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk told Zuga to wait in Booty Bay and later work with Fourteen to contact the inland Gurubashi Trolls.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk urged the Troll leaders to gather their men and make an impressive show of strength during the negotiations.

Ch. 340That bow of yours looks pretty good. Why not give it to me?

Yu Lin Bloodhawk proposed trading military equipment for tigers and leopards, and Alleria and Sylvanas agreed to report the Expeditionary Army Corps’s lost gear as combat losses. Sylvanas offered her fine-quality bow in exchange for half the galleons, but Alleria stepped in and offered her own bow instead.

  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk proposed trading equipment from his troops for animals caught by the Trolls, and Alleria questioned whether he could trade Quel'Thalas’s army gear.
  • Yu Lin Bloodhawk argued that the equipment could be reported as combat losses, and Sylvanas backed him.
  • Sylvanas suggested leaving weapons for the Hinterlands troops and offered Yu Lin Bloodhawk her fine-quality bow.
  • Sylvanas asked for half the galleons in exchange, but Yu Lin Bloodhawk warned that elves lacked the crew to operate them.
  • Alleria offered Yu Lin Bloodhawk her own fine-quality bow, saying it was a fair trade for saving the Expeditionary Army Corps.
