Background / History

Kenjaku spent a thousand years pursuing a plan to optimize cursed energy and assimilate humanity with Tengen. He entered contracts with ancient sorcerers and cursed spirits who would later become Culling Game players 103 131 144.

Four hundred years before the modern story, he manipulated the Ten Shadows user Zenin Shin into a fatal confrontation with the Six Eyes-bearing Gojo Clan head. Their mutual destruction removed both threats and helped establish the long-standing hostility between their clans. Kenjaku subsequently killed an infant Six Eyes bearer, but further bearers continued to appear; he eventually abandoned killing them in favor of sealing them 6 20 112.

Around 150 years before the modern events, Kenjaku mixed his blood into nine stillborn cursed spirits, creating the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. He also gave birth to Yuji Itadori through a union with Sukuna's brother, designing Yuji as a cage capable of restraining Sukuna 36 141.

Appearance

  • Host-dependent appearance: His initial visible host is an unremarkable-looking man with stitches running around his forehead 31.
  • Geto clone: Later vessels reproduce Suguru Geto's appearance closely enough that Gojo's Six Eyes identify the body and cursed energy as Geto's 43 98.
  • Concealed stitches: Wears a black hat to hide his forehead stitches while meeting Mahito 74.
  • True body: The brain inside his host remains capable of speaking after decapitation; Ze destroys it separately to kill him 120.

Personality

Kenjaku favors manipulation, preparation, and indirect confrontation over brute force. He exploits clan rivalries, institutional politics, and personal attachments, while refusing unnecessary risks that might expose him to Ze Zenin or Satoru Gojo. Even when using Geto's clone, he worries that traces of his own cursed energy could reveal his involvement 31 43 98 102.

His cooperation with cursed spirits is pragmatic rather than respectful. He privately considers them inferior creatures, dismisses Mahito's confidence against Ze, and ultimately sacrifices Mahito to complete his plan. Xuan'an is an exception: Kenjaku recognizes him as more than an ordinary cursed spirit and considers him a more dependable partner than Sukuna 43 50 103 120.

He initially dismisses Ze's abilities as flashy variations of Ten Shadows, but gradually comes to regard him as his greatest threat. At death, he acknowledges Ze as the strongest and most flawless opponent he has encountered in a thousand years, while expressing delight in their contest 7 74 120.

Abilities & Skills

Body Possession and Cloned Vessels

Kenjaku can take over bodies through his cursed technique and operates through multiple hosts 31 50.

  • Switches bodies frequently to protect the secrecy of Geto's cloned vessel 50.
  • Avoids possessing the original Geto because he fears the thousands of subdued cursed spirits might run wild upon Geto's death 31.
  • Uses modern cloning technology to reproduce Geto from stolen flesh 98.
  • Requires Xuan'an's technique to awaken the clone's own cursed technique. A binding vow permits a possessing or incarnating sorcerer to choose only one of the bodies Xuan'an awakens 146.
  • Refers to the vessel endangered during his first battle with Ze as containing “half of his soul”; its destruction does not prevent his later return 89 90 94.

Anti-Gravity and Gravity

Kenjaku possesses a stolen Anti-Gravity Cursed Technique, whose reversal produces gravity 31 54.

  • Pins Geto beneath crushing gravitational force during their ambush 31.
  • Attempts to suppress Ze's final attack with gravity, but Black Chidori reaches him unaffected 120.
  • Offers Anti-Gravity in exchange for access to Geto's technique during his arrangement with the King of Cursed Spirit. Xuan'an later reveals that he rejected the Gravity technique and returned it 31 145.

Blood Manipulation

His control of blood is described as unmatched by anyone in the Kamo Clan 89.

  • Supernova: Surrounds himself with blood droplets that burst like shotgun pellets 89.
  • Piercing Blood: Uses a concentrated blood attack against Ze 89.
  • Defensive binding vow: Restricts his technique's target to Ze alone to increase its destructive power and guard against attacks from behind 89.
  • Destroys Geto's attacking centipede cursed spirits with blood projectiles 31.

Domain Expansion and Barrier Techniques

Kenjaku possesses more than two cursed techniques and domains, although only two domains are named in the supplied account 90.

Domain Effect Documented limits
Constant Weight Village An open domain with a lethal gravitational sure-hit. It overwhelms Slit-Mouthed Woman's Simple Domain and redirects Ze's Kirin 31 90. Shadow Shrine cancels its sure-hit during their clash and has the stronger effect inside the contested space 90.
Blood River Scale Leap A second open domain that delivers piercing blood attacks. Also called Blood Sea Scale Leap in the passage 90. Opening it alongside Constant Weight Village requires his newly imposed binding vow and the last of his cursed energy 90.
  • Combines both domains' attacks to break the strengthened outer shell of Shadow Shrine 90.
  • Neither domain's sure-hit can harm Ze after Susanoo manifests 90.
  • Uses Wicker Basket during the confrontation with Geto 31.
  • Teaches Domain Amplification to Jogo and Yugao so they can neutralize Gojo's Limitless through contact 96.
  • Constructs ten Culling Game barriers across Japan before Shibuya, including the exceptionally large Sendai Colony 131 133.

Cursed Spirit Manipulation

Geto's technique is essential to Kenjaku's plan, allowing him to control cursed spirits through the cloned vessel 20 120.

  • Accumulates subdued spirits in the clone over the years 120.
  • Converts Mahito into a cursed spirit orb and absorbs him, securing the spirit whose Idle Transfiguration is indispensable to his assimilation plan 103 120.
  • Releases a massive tide of cursed spirits to obstruct Ze, Geto, and Riko Amanai. Ze destroys the horde with Mini Kirin 120.

Healing, Movement, and Soul Restoration

  • Reverse Cursed Technique: Repairs a body left half-destroyed by Ze's combined fire and lightning attack 89.
  • Body Flicker Technique: Closes the distance to Geto during his ambush 31.
  • Cursed-energy reinforcement: Strikes Geto before he can react; Geto compares his speed to Gojo's 31.
  • Soul-based restoration: Restores Jogo using a portion of Jogo's soul entrusted to him beforehand 72.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Modified Prison Realm — Seals Gojo after his memories occupy the required minute. Kenjaku incorporates the broken blade of the Inverted Spear of Heaven to neutralize the intact spear's ability to open it 94 98.
  • Teleportation talismans — Uses a talisman to flee after Ze detects him near Jujutsu High. Having exhausted his supply leaves him unable to escape their later confrontation 22 89.
  • Black bead — Fuses into Geto's body during the ambush associated with his technique-access arrangement and Geto's subsequent memory loss 31 39 98.
  • Sukuna's fingers — Arranges for Yuji to be force-fed a finger and supplies Mahito with another opportunity to strengthen Sukuna's presence 50 74.
  • Stitched Kogane — A contingency prepared to control Tengen after Kenjaku's death. Xuan'an can use it to make Tengen assimilate the world when the Culling Game ends 145.

Relationships

  • Ze Zenin — Principal enemy. Kenjaku's attempts to manipulate, isolate, and contain him repeatedly fail; Ze ultimately destroys his brain 20 98 120.
  • Satoru Gojo — Six Eyes-bearing obstacle. Kenjaku exploits his attachment to Geto and Ze to seal him rather than fight him directly 26 98.
  • Suguru Geto — Target of technique theft and cloning. Kenjaku steals his flesh and uses Xuan'an's Memory Cursed Technique to suppress part of his soul and memories, without possessing the original 31 98 145.
  • Xuan'an — Long-term strategic partner. Kenjaku devises operations while Xuan'an supplies forces; Xuan'an secretly permits his death after the Culling Game begins 103 145.
  • Mahito — Collaborator and eventual sacrifice. Kenjaku protects him while he is useful, then absorbs him 89 120.
  • Jogo, Hanami, Dagon, and Yugao — Cursed-spirit allies directed against the sorcerers. Kenjaku restores Jogo and teaches Jogo and Yugao Domain Amplification 50 72 96.
  • Kokichi Muta — Informant bound by an agreement requiring Mahito to heal his body before the conspirators can kill him 69 89.
  • Kamo Sheng — Ally recruited through resentment toward the Gojo and Zenin Clans. Their binding vow includes Kenjaku's promise to help destroy both clans 99 102.
  • Yuji Itadori — Child deliberately created to restrain Sukuna and later compelled to participate in the Culling Game 36 131 141.
  • Choso and the Death Paintings — Creations made using his blood; Ze identifies Kenjaku as both their “father” and their enemy 122 141.
  • Tengen — Intended instrument of humanity's assimilation. Kenjaku's control contingency survives him 123 145.
