Background / History

Wang Mian and Wang Quan had fought the Ancient God Church together and survived life-threatening situations before the Cangnan recruit-training arc. Their close friendship is marked by constant teasing; Wang Mian knows Wang Quan well enough to finish his explanation of his impulsive behavior with the word “Freedom!” 35.

Personality

Wang Mian remains calm under pressure, reassuring Vortex during a parachute-free skydive and making quick decisions when the recruits divide their forces. His confidence also has a theatrical side: asked to intimidate the recruits with a memorable entrance, he chooses a free fall from thousands of meters above the camp 36 37 41.

He readily acknowledges an opponent’s ability. During his duel with Lin Qiye, he praises both the recruit’s preparation and determination; afterward, he accepts defeat without resentment and expresses optimism about the younger generation 45 46 47.

His concern for the recruits extends beyond the exercise. Although he reverses the decisive moment so their training can continue, he privately admits that [Mask] lost. He also restores the dormitories he destroyed so the recruits can sleep properly before Wang Quan’s punishing training begins 46 47.

Cangnan Training Camp

Wang Mian brings [Mask] to the training camp at Wang Quan’s invitation and meets Lin Qiye before the exercise. He offers to answer questions about being a divine Proxy, then leads his squad’s dramatic aerial entrance 35 36.

Five [Mask] members face 239 recruits while suppressing their strength to the Lamp Realm. The recruits must remove a squad member’s mask before ten that night to earn immediate graduation. Wang Mian initially helps rout them, then counters their coordinated resistance by rescuing Moon Ghost and dismantling the dormitory ambush 37 38 40 43.

Duel with Lin Qiye

As the other combatants stop fighting and become spectators, Wang Mian and Lin Qiye continue a one-on-one duel. Lin Qiye evades his blade net and seals [Yiyuan], forcing Wang Mian to rely on close-range swordplay and alternating bursts of time manipulation 44 45.

Their clash draws the attention of Kronos and Michael. After Wang Mian’s Time Divine Ruins collapses, Lin Qiye splits his mask and wins. Wang Mian reverses the decisive moment to keep the recruits in training, privately acknowledges the loss, and grants Lin Qiye three favors from [Mask] 46.

Aftermath

Wang Mian honors his lost bet with Wang Quan and restores the demolished dormitories. He tells his teammates that they genuinely lost, treating the result as evidence that the next generation has a promising future 47.
