"Satoru Gojo?" I wasn't angry, just a little curious-and a tiny bit pleased.
Before Satoru Gojo could answer, the guard called out again, "Young Master Gojo, it's dangerous! Please come down-"
As he spoke, he seemed to finally notice me. He gave me an awkward bow and added a greeting. "...Miss Kuang Wu."
I remembered him, but wasn't he the guard stationed at the gate?
What was he doing here?
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
He looked at me, then at Satoru Gojo up in the tree, hesitating to speak.
"Because I barged in, of course!"
Satoru Gojo jumped out of the tree and landed casually on the ground, announcing the truth with a proud expression, as if he saw nothing wrong with it.
The guard's face fell at once.
Caught in an impossible position, he finally worked up the courage to bite the bullet and say, "Young Master Gojo...if you really wish to visit the Zenin Clan, you could send a visiting card ahead of time next time..."
When Satoru Gojo said nothing, he gritted his teeth. "Or, failing that, you could at least wait for us to announce your arrival. There's no need to rush..."
Otherwise, if anything happened and the family laid the blame on him, he would be in trouble.
In the end, wouldn't a lowly nobody like him be the one left to bear the consequences?
What a poor working stiff.
I suddenly felt a faint twinge of sympathy...
So I waved a hand and told him, "Satoru Gojo came to see me. You don't need to worry. Go back to your post."
As if he'd been granted a pardon, the guard hurriedly excused himself.
Now, then-
I turned to the smug-looking Satoru Gojo and smiled slightly. "What did you come to see me for, Satoru Gojo?"
Satoru Gojo answered as if it were perfectly obvious. "I just wanted to see what kind of person had the legendary Ten Shadows Technique that's supposed to rival the Six Eyes."
Me: "?"
"Didn't we already meet last time?" I said. "When we exorcised that special grade cursed spirit."
"That's different!" He lifted his chin slightly and looked at me. "There wasn't enough time last time. I only got a good look at your Cursed Technique."
This was probably what being a child truly meant.
He was young, so he didn't consider the consequences. Whatever he wanted to do, he simply did.
Or perhaps it was because he was so powerful, or so exceptionally gifted, that the Gojo Clan had spoiled him into thinking there was nowhere in the world he couldn't go.
I sighed, feeling a little helpless. "All right, then...I'll let it slide this time. Next time, remember to send a visiting card or wait for the guards to announce you...just don't barge in."
I invited Satoru Gojo inside and even brought out some sweets for him.
The sweets used the recipe I'd settled on with the dessert shop's owner last time. With the Zenin Clan's experienced cooks and higher-quality ingredients, they tasted even better than the ones sold in the shop.
-Especially since these sweets weren't overly sweet.
I simply couldn't stop eating them.
I couldn't wait to share them with Satoru Gojo.
He would surely be won over by the taste. I was absolutely certain.
I might have been wrong.
Satoru Gojo...he actually asked how sweets this awful could exist in the world!
How could he say that!
When the sweets were first brought out, he'd rushed over even more eagerly than I had and couldn't wait to take a bite. But after just one bite!
...He frowned and set down the sweet in his hand.
I held back my anger and tried hard to calm myself before asking him, "Then what kind of sweets do you think taste good?"
With a look that said, "Now you've asked the right person," Satoru Gojo declared loudly, "The sweeter, the better, of course! Eating sweets with no flavor at all, like these, is practically torture!"
Fine, Satoru Gojo. From now on, don't expect to get a single bite of sweets from me.
