In the end, I still went to have dessert with him.
Besides that, I also bought a game console on his enthusiastic recommendation.
According to him, the more I played, the more I would enjoy it.
-What I didn't tell him was that the Zenin Clan estate had no cell signal at all, let alone internet access.
At first, I thought all the feudal families in Jujutsu Society were like that-
Until I saw the piece of technology Satoru Gojo had placed in the corner of his room: an electric heater.
It took up very little space, but it was there all the same.
And because its technological appearance clashed so sharply with the traditional Japanese-style room, it looked out of place and was especially conspicuous.
Now that I had seen Satoru Gojo buying a game console, I figured the Gojo Clan probably had an internet connection installed, too.
So... it was just the Zenin Clan that was especially feudal.
After returning from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, I had proposed to my father-by-default that we build a signal base station on the Back Mountain.
Unexpectedly, what I had assumed would be a simple matter met with opposition from the vast majority of the higher-ups.
To them, "against the rules" trumped everything.
And I, for trying to break those rules, became an insolent fool who didn't know her place.
Seizing on that, they also harshly criticized my refusal to attend Etiquette Class.
After seeing how the Gojo Clan lived and thinking about the Zenin Clan, I suddenly felt a little angry.
Why was it that, as fellow members of the Three Great Families, the Gojo Clan could have it, but for the Zenin Clan, it was "against the rules"?
Although I knew Satoru Gojo was almost certainly the main reason, I was still displeased.
-No matter what, I was going to get internet access at home.
If nothing else worked, I would take a page out of Satoru Gojo's book.
We hadn't actually spent that long out together. After about two hours, we parted ways.
Once we separated, I returned to my room using Shadow Teleportation.
Since I had given instructions beforehand not to disturb me, all the attendants were outside the courtyard.
My room was completely quiet, and no one had discovered that I had gone out during that time.
The next day, I went to see my father-by-default.
"Father, I want internet access."
Naobito Zenin looked surprised. "Why do you suddenly want internet access?"
I put what I had learned from Satoru Gojo into practice. "There's no reason. I just want it. What, can't you even handle something this simple?"
Satoru Gojo never explained his reasons. He did whatever he pleased.
Naobito Zenin was at a loss for words. "..."
He pressed a hand to his forehead and sighed. "You know the elders all opposed this last time... and I-"
"-And you have no authority to decide, is that it?" I interrupted him. "You're supposed to be the clan head, so why are there so many things you can't decide? You're so useless."
Satoru Gojo was good at hitting people where it hurt, and he was very blunt.
Then my father-by-default stared at me for a long time with a look I couldn't decipher.
"Kuang Wu, what's gotten into you?" Naobito Zenin asked.
This strange sense of déjà vu kept reminding him of a certain white-haired brat from the neighboring Gojo Clan.
In the end, I was summoned to the elders' meeting room again.
The meeting had two main topics: first, the bearer of the Six Eyes had terrible character, and I was to stay away from him, since bad company corrupted good morals.
Second, building a base station and installing an internet connection were absolutely out of the question, and I was to learn the rules and follow tradition.
In response, I said nothing and simply summoned Rabbit Escape.
"Bite." I gave the order, my face expressionless.
-The entire meeting room was instantly engulfed by a vicious rabbit tide.
Moments later, the shattered walls and rubble looked like a demolition site.
One of the older elders fainted from anger on the spot.
Watching everyone scramble in panic, I felt utterly refreshed.
Satoru Gojo routinely blasted buildings whenever things didn't go his way, and now I finally understood-demolition really did feel amazing.
When I asked for internet access at the Zenin Clan estate for the third time, I finally got what I wanted without a hitch, and not a single voice objected.
So the reason things hadn't been going my way... was that I had been following the rules too closely.
