Arc 5Bridges and the Snow Kingdom

Kiyoshi and Team 7 protected Tazuna from Gato’s forces, then escorted a film crew and Koyuki through a conspiracy in the Land of Snow. The group reached the Royal City, freed Kakashi, and uncovered the entrance to the seven-colored ice beneath the old city.

  • Kakashi captured the attackers targeting Tazuna, who admitted Gato was trying to stop his bridge, and Naruto insisted Team 7 continue the mission.
  • Zabuza attacked Tazuna on the bridge, but Kakashi and the team repelled him before a masked hunter-nin took him away, and Kiyoshi noticed the hunter’s needles had not struck vital points.
  • Zabuza and Haku returned to the bridge, where Haku’s Ice Mirrors trapped Naruto and Sasuke, and Naruto’s red chakra shattered them, and Kiyoshi guarded Tazuna through the battle.
  • Gato arrived with ronin and was killed by Zabuza, then Kiyoshi and Naruto helped drive the remaining attackers from the bridge as Tazuna resumed construction.
  • Tazuna named the completed bridge the Great Naruto Bridge, and Team 7 returned to Konoha before Kiyoshi accepted an escort commission to the Land of Snow.
  • Nadare Roga’s armored warriors attacked the ship and later ambushed the convoy at an ice bridge, where the team escaped but Kiyoshi found a copper insignia beneath the snow.
  • Kiyoshi uncovered evidence that the route had been leaked, then helped defend the camp when the armored forces attacked, and Koyuki went with them while Kakashi was taken toward the Royal City.
  • Sandayu explained the Warmhouse Machine’s keys, and Kiyoshi planned a route to bring Koyuki home, and the group freed Kakashi, confronted the city’s garrison, and found a frozen doorway glowing with seven-colored light.

Arc 6The Forest Exam

Kiyoshi and his team passed the Chūnin Exam’s written test and survived the Forest of Death, where Sasuke was marked by a mysterious attacker. At the preliminary matches, Dosu withdrew from his bout with Kiyoshi, and Sasuke defeated Zaku before the remaining fights continued.

  • Kiyoshi’s team helped Koyuki activate the Warmhouse Machine in the Land of Snow and returned to Konoha, where Kiyoshi qualified to register for the Chūnin Exam.
  • Kiyoshi joined the exam with Naruto and Sasuke, observed the arriving Sunagakure team and Kabuto Yakushi, and prepared for the written test.
  • Kiyoshi left his test paper blank and stayed in the room as other candidates withdrew, then passed when Ibiki revealed that the test measured their willingness to persist and gather information without being caught.
  • Anko announced the Forest of Death test, and Kiyoshi’s team received an Earth scroll and entered the forest, avoiding suspicious tracks and a staged attack.
  • Zaku, Dosu, and Kin ambushed the team, but Kiyoshi used the Thunderclap Blade against Zaku before a strange presence forced the attackers to retreat.
  • A pale cloaked man overwhelmed the team and marked Sasuke’s neck, and Anko drove him away, and a leaf-clad stranger gave Kiyoshi medicine for Sasuke.
  • Kiyoshi’s team reached the Tower with help from Kabuto’s group, opened their scrolls, and passed the second stage before Iruka announced preliminary matches.
  • Dosu withdrew from his match with Kiyoshi, Sasuke defeated Zaku as markings briefly appeared on his hand, and Sakura and Ino both advanced after their bout ended in a draw.

Arc 7The Finals and the Fall

Kiyoshi prepared for and won his match against Kankuro, but the Finals became a village-wide crisis when the arena was sealed and the invasion began. After the Hokage died and people were lost, Kiyoshi put responsibility under his own name and kept his account to himself.

  • Kiyoshi defeated Dosu, Naruto defeated Kiba, and Shino defeated Kankuro in the preliminaries, while Hinata and Neji drew and Gaara crushed Rock Lee’s hand.
  • Kiyoshi investigated Kankuro’s puppet, recorded Kabuto Yakushi for observation, and trained with Might Guy and Shisui as he prepared for the Finals.
  • Kiyoshi challenged Gaara during the exam period, then studied the arena’s security and its suspicious hollow while the village prepared for a wartime drill.
  • Kiyoshi watched Naruto defeat Neji and Hinata withdraw, then beat Kankuro by anticipating and severing his puppet threads.
  • As Sasuke and Gaara fought, Kiyoshi realized the exits were sealed and helped direct people through the ensuing panic while the arena was enclosed by sand.
  • Kiyoshi recorded the wounded and missing, learned that someone on the seating roster had not escaped, and began sweeping after Mikoto said someone had to clear away the ash.
  • After Shisui told Kiyoshi that the Hokage was gone but the village remained, Kiyoshi crossed out “too late,” wrote “I myself” and “Put it under my name,” and kept his notebook.
