The Scale Monster was left speechless by the retort.
Two seconds later, he punched the Long-Haired Monster in the head again. "We were only gone for half a minute. Who could've known he'd run off that fast?"
"None of you thought of it, so isn't it perfectly normal that I didn't either?" The Long-Haired Monster clutched his head. "Why am I the only one getting hit?"
While they argued, more monsters arrived.
After hearing the gist of things, they realized they had come up empty again. Their prey had already fled.
"How does this guy keep appearing and disappearing like a ghost?" The Antenna Monster who had spoken to the Scale Monster earlier scratched the several antennae on his head. "Can he blink?"
"I think that's very likely!" The Long-Haired Monster escaped the Scale Monster's fists and eagerly joined the conversation. "I didn't hear a thing before he vanished. If he'd walked away, there's no way I would've missed it, however faint the sound."
As soon as the Long-Haired Monster finished speaking, many of the monsters frowned, and a chorus of discussion broke out.
"If that's true, this guy's way too hard to deal with!"
"Yeah, he can turn invisible and blink away. How the hell are we supposed to find him?"
"He blinks away as soon as we get there. How are we supposed to catch him?"
"And every time he runs, finding him again takes forever. With that invisibility thing... what can we do besides rely on smell and hearing?"
"He's also got that terrifying fire. How many of us has he killed already...? I'm getting scared just looking at his flames."
