Thick vines stretched across the path between them, with the Prince and Princess standing atop them.
The Princess looked down at the three players. "A few pathetic vermin, and you really thought you could escape right under my nose?"
"Looking for you kept us from getting a decent night's rest." The Prince looked displeased. "After all that struggling, you're still going to die here, aren't you?"
"What are you so smug about?" Zhao Xun sneered at the Prince. "You're only lucky enough to stand here spouting big talk because you're riding the Princess's coattails."
"What did you say?" The Prince's eyes widened in anger.
"What, am I wrong?" Zhao Xun continued. "When the Princess was unconscious, the Assassin nearly killed her. All you had to do was kiss her to wake her immediately and foil the Assassin's attempt, but you didn't even dare move. After the Princess woke up, you just followed her around like a lapdog. Do you have any strength of your own?"
The Slightly Plump Woman looked at Zhao Xun in confusion.
She did not understand what he hoped to accomplish by saying all this now.
Was he trying to drive a wedge between the Princess and Prince so they could find an opportunity to escape once the two fell out?
"Don't even think about turning us against each other," the Princess snorted. "He may be timid and weak, but he's considerate and caring, attentive to my every need. I love him, and nothing you say will change that!"
The Prince lifted his chin smugly and cast Zhao Xun a contemptuous look. "No one in the world can match my love for the Princess!"

It did not look as though he had managed to turn them against each other.
