The Gap in Time
"A gap in time."
"The Ring Research Institute, existing within the time gaps."
Qin Yiguan gazed into the distance, "Where is it? How can I find it?"
Thinking of his adoptive mother's tragic death and the director of the Ring Research Institute who cloned him, Qin Yiguan slowly clenched his teeth.
But the road ahead is uncertain.
Or perhaps, there is simply no way forward.
On a barren loess continent.
Tens of thousands of people, dressed in simple clothes, many even wearing animal skins, knelt on the ground, performing some kind of ritual.
Many people still have some very crude bronze artifacts used for farming next to them.
They are human beings, but they are very primitive humans.
Judging from their skin color, they should be descendants of Yan and Huang.
However, since the beginning of written records in China civilization, no dynasty has been found to have worn such clothing and performed such rituals.
In the center of the crowd, there was a simple wooden platform about half a meter high. In the center of the platform, there was a wooden sculpture. Although it was rough, you could still tell that it was a woman with her hair in a bun, wearing ancient clothes, with delicate features and exuding a special kind of beauty.
The people bowed their heads, then raised their hands to the sky, shouting in a tone completely different from modern language.
The wooden statue of the woman must represent their revered ancestors or some kind of deity.
Such sacrifices may have continued for thousands of years, hundreds of years, thousands of times. Although the deity can never appear, they remain extremely devout.
Just as the people were kowtowing for the thirteenth time, a magnificent blue light suddenly flashed across the sky.
The crowd was shocked and stared in horror at the sky.
The blue light was immense, then slowly dissipated, revealing a white, spherical building that appeared in the sky and gently descended.
That white sphere wasn't some kind of aircraft; it was a real building.
Its area spans at least 2 square kilometers, and it even includes side rooms, a metal fence, and a tall gate.
And on one side of the gate, there was a plaque with a symbol that was a closed circle, and below the circle were four large characters: "Ring Research Institute".
Although there were tens of thousands of people present, there was complete silence.
From a distance, a line of figures could be seen emerging from the white, spherical building.
They crossed the courtyard, slowly pushed open the gate, and appeared before everyone.
A group of locals, clad in animal skins and wielding bronze spears, rushed forward and immediately surrounded them.
Then these locals uttered strange tones; their speech sounded like modern Mandarin, but it was completely off-key, making it difficult to discern what they were shouting.
The group of people who walked out of the Ring Research Institute were all dressed in white lab coats, black trousers, and black leather shoes, and their ages ranged from 20 to 60.
One of them, a man around 30 years old with a strong build, wearing a white coat, slowly raised his hand and beckoned to a local.
The local man looked fearful, but simply stretched his bronze spear forward a little further.
The strong-looking man in the white coat shook his head helplessly and slowly stepped forward. In the process, a palm-sized, brown, cone-shaped weapon appeared in his hand. He suddenly raised his hand, and the weapon smashed directly into the local man's head. Blood splattered everywhere, and the local man's body slowly collapsed to the ground.
This scene was witnessed by the locals, who immediately roared in terror.
A dozen warriors clad in animal skins were about to swarm forward and assassinate the group of extraterrestrial visitors.
Friends, please be patient.
A relatively gentle voice came from behind the group of people in white coats, and an elderly man with gray hair and a kind face slowly walked out.
The old man stepped forward, his eyes filled with reproach as he looked at the burly man in the white coat. "Lu Guang, I've told you many times, no matter where you go or who you're dealing with, don't be so rude. Try your best to treat them with courtesy."
The strong man in the white coat, named Lu Guang, bowed slightly. "Dean, I'm sorry."
At this moment.
The local man whose head had just emitted a bloody glow actually stood up unsteadily. It turned out that his head had not exploded. Instead, a small device that was flashing red light was embedded in his scalp. Upon closer inspection, several metal tentacles could be seen piercing into his skull from below the device.
Lu Guang said in a low voice, "Dean, their language is very different from the language of civilized human society, which is why I installed brain recognition devices on them to directly extract 'thoughts' from their brains and then translate them into language. Only in this way can we communicate effectively."
The elderly man, referred to as the dean, shook his head helplessly, "Remember to be gentler next time."
Immediately.
The dean turned to the bewildered local and slowly said, "Friend, we mean no harm."
The local man was clearly taken aback.
He felt a language he could understand suddenly appear in his mind.
He touched the device on his head incredulously, looking completely bewildered.
"May I have your name?"
The elderly man in the white coat asked with a smile.
"My name is Guan Liujue, and I am the captain of the Guardian in the Xiu Tribe."
The local man still spoke in that strange, incomprehensible tone, but as he spoke, the device on his head flashed, as if providing simultaneous translation, and played out standard Mandarin.
This sudden sound startled the Guardian captain, Guan Liujue, once again!
Just then, the elderly man, whom the other doctors in white coats called the Dean, was about to speak when he suddenly coughed violently, his body swaying. A young doctor in a white coat not far away immediately stepped forward, took out a medicine bottle from his pocket, poured out a few white pills, and helped the Dean take them.
After swallowing the pill, the old man's expression visibly relaxed, and his tone returned to calm.
"Us..."
The old man glanced back at the wooden carving on the platform and chuckled, "We were sent by her, friends of what you know as our ancestor... We've come to find something."
Guan Liujue's expression froze for a moment, then he became extremely excited and unable to contain himself.
He suddenly turned around, raised the spear in his hand high, and shouted excitedly to the thousands of his people.
The tribesmen were also stunned upon hearing this, but in just a moment, they completely abandoned their guarded expressions, knelt down and kowtowed repeatedly, raising dust and making a deafening noise.
Guan Liujue's words, translated into Mandarin, mean "Our ancestors live in heaven," and "They come from heaven; they are our ancestors' friends!"
The group of people in white coats wore a smirk throughout. The locals shouted for a full five minutes, but none of them paid any attention to what they were saying.
"Hehe."
The dean's smile remained kind. "Captain Guan Liujue, seven days ago, did you see a huge fireball fall from the sky? It should have fallen within your tribe's territory, and it made a tremendous noise as it fell."
"Have!"
At this moment, Guan Liujue were full of respect, and he quickly said, "It's in the west, not far. I'll take you there!"
The elderly man in the white coat bowed slightly and politely said, "Thank you."
