Background / History

Meng Jihe was the eldest child at the orphanage where Qin Yiguan grew up. The two spent ten years together and became as close as brothers. Meng protected Qin from other children’s beatings and held him while he slept when his fear of the dark became overwhelming 15 17.

He was fascinated by geometric constructions from childhood and had mastered Elements by age ten. Expecting him to become a mathematical genius, the orphanage director renamed him Meng Jihe 16.

The orphanage sent its children into society at eighteen. After Meng left, Qin lost contact with him and heard only rumors that he had qualified as a Half-Human, entered the Metaverse, and become wealthy. Meng eventually founded Geometry Design Group through his rare reality enhancement 15 16.

Appearance

Meng is introduced as a handsome man who appears about thirty, although Qin thinks his face looks unchanged from when he left the orphanage at eighteen 15.

Personality

Meng’s affection for Qin is outspoken and deliberately extravagant. After learning that Qin has a zero-percent Fusion Rate, he refuses to assign him work and instead promises to provide everything he wants, spare him hardship, and spoil him for life. Qin remembers him making the same declaration as a child 16.

His protectiveness extends beyond encouragement. When Qin reveals abilities that attract the Research Society’s interest, Meng’s first concern is preventing his capture and arranging a safe hiding place—not exploiting his power 32.

Meng is proud of his design expertise and initially dismisses Mingtu’s intimidation because its technical capabilities cannot match his company’s. When Ke Qiming later attacks directly, he orders everyone away and stands apart as the principal target. He does not blame the employees who retreat, recognizing that courage has limits 17 30.

He is also skeptical of institutional motives. Despite the Research Society’s scientific reputation, he believes it seeks to use its discoveries to become the Metaverse’s highest power 19.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Reunion in the Experimental Zone

Meng arrives intending to establish a connection with Lu Zun’s son but instead encounters Qin, whom he has not seen in over a decade. He embraces him, identifies their location as the Experimental Zone, and promises protection. He then introduces Qin to Fusion Rate, reality enhancement, and his company 15 16.

Mingtu’s Attack

Mingtu purchases the land around Meng’s property and deploys an Iron Curtain to isolate it. The barrier crosses the boundary, blocks visible light, and begins cutting through the airborne Geometry Design Building. During the crisis, Qin’s gestalt collapse transforms two spying crows into enormous half-mechanical monsters. One abducts Rong Qian; Meng pulls Qin back from the shattered edge 17 18.

The building is left badly damaged, and the Research Society’s concealed aircraft appears overhead to investigate the anomalous incident 19.

The Crow’s Return

When Qin returns, Meng reports Rong Qian’s continued disappearance and the failure of the Research Society’s capture squads. Ke Qiming then arrives on the enlarged crow and sends it diving toward Meng. Qin refuses to hide, makes the monster disappear, fatally throws Ke into the ground, and rescues Rong Qian 30 31 32.

Protecting Qin’s Secret

Meng realizes that Qin is connected to the crow and the newly announced Dark Zone system. He warns that exposure could lead to capture and endless testing, but Qin declines his proposed refuge to protect Geometry Design Group. Meng subsequently offers Source Matter and remains in contact; he later informs Qin that Ke has died and reassures him that the Experimental Zone has no order or punishment 32 43.
