Jiu Zhengxuan spent his first eighteen years training within his family under Lu Zun. He describes his upbringing as increasingly strict, sometimes bordering on cruel. His father taught him to act uprightly, reject misconduct, and intervene whenever he encountered injustice 25 42.

Before learning his name, Qin Yiguan encountered him lying in a Nutrient Pod inside a Central District mansion and called him “Ninth Brother.” Qin noticed their similar age, build, and facial appearance. When they later met in the Experimental Zone, wealthy and influential visitors surrounded Zhengxuan, praised his exceptional Fusion Rate, and escorted him aboard a luxurious aircraft 9 15.

Zhengxuan subsequently entered 053 High School as a transfer student through the education system’s placement process. Uncomfortable with the administration’s ostentatious welcome, he rejected a specially offered seat and moved to his assigned place: seat five of row 226, as the class’s 3,326th student. He insists on following ordinary school rules, treats Teacher Qing respectfully, and expresses a strong obligation to confront injustice. Lu Zun reinforces these values by demanding that he expose wrongdoers rather than tolerate misconduct 25 42.

His sense of justice includes concern for vulnerable people. During a combat simulation, he disables an apparent attacker’s machinery instead of striking her, catches her as she collapses, and asks the officers not to involve noncombatants in future drills 40.

He is vigilant but can misinterpret incomplete evidence. His suspicion of Qin Yiguan rests partly on the mistaken assumption that Qin must use a Nutrient Pod to enter the Experimental Zone.
