At the Faranis Stellar Base, Xi Yan met his loyal and intelligent scientists. He gathered them for a brief meeting, then presented the few clues he knew.
First: the L-Gates had been created by an ancient civilization called the "Dessanu."
Second: that civilization possessed advanced nanite technology, and this L-Gate was a product of nanites.
Third: the L-Cluster connected to the L-Gates lay outside this galaxy and was an isolated cluster of stars.
Sometimes, research needed only an opportunity or a flash of inspiration. Xi Yan believed the three clues he had provided would help.
Telling the scientists who had built the L-Gates and where they led might prove useful, even if they had never studied an L-Gate before.
In the game, seven clues had to be unlocked before preparations could begin to open an L-Gate. One could be unlocked with rare artifacts, another purchased from the Curator Enclave, and several others obtained through investigation and research.
Reality imposed no such restrictions. Xi Yan did not know how to resolve the matter of the clues, either, so he could only wait for the scientists to do their research.
After taking a brief look at the L-Gate, Xi Yan dismissed his projection and returned to work.
He would not be able to visit the L-Cluster anytime soon. Besides, he still needed to prepare a large fleet to deal with whatever dangers might lurk inside.
There were still quite a few colonies to deal with in the M'tok Union's territory. Aside from the planets slated for extermination, order needed to be reestablished on the remaining worlds that produced basic resources.
Before this, the imperial Army had already advanced and begun burning, killing, and looting on the various planets... or rather, conducting civilized plunder and sustainably draining the pond to catch the fish.
