The dull gray Nanites Mothership kept ramming the L-Gate, its tip piercing the black hole before being bounced back out.
Nanite Motherships and Interceptors crowded around the green-glowing Terminal Egress L-Gate, shoving it back and forth.
The Nanite Fleet kept colliding with itself as well, knocking loose great swarms of nanites that then gathered back together.
Amid the chaotic mass of nanite ships, an exceptionally enormous Nanites Mothership squeezed out, circled around, and stopped some distance away.

Naturally, the ship that had escaped was the Nanites Mothership that Gray Tempest had transformed into.
She squeezed out of the noisy throng of Gray Tempest ships and watched, somewhat angrily, as the Gray Tempest kept jostling around the L-Gate.
Each of these nanite consciousnesses could control a portion of the fleet. The Dessanu Empire Will controlled the most nanite ships, since he had more than a dozen Nanite Worlds.
The Gray Tempest came next. Its core was housed in the Nanites Factory in the Trinary Star System deep within the L-Cluster, and it could continually produce new fleets. As long as the factory survived, the Gray Tempest would exist forever.
Gray Tempest came after that. She had only one exceptionally enormous Nanites Mothership, but her consciousness was the strongest. Even if she was scattered, she would gather herself back together ten years later and return to life.
The L-Dragon ranked last, though generally, no one would go out of their way to trouble a dragon that had lost its consciousness.
-The Gray Tempest seems to have sensed fluctuations from the L-Gate. It also knows the L-Gate has been opened before.
The Empire Consciousness breathed a sigh of relief, recalling that the humans had cut power to the L-Gate at the Faranis
