They would exploit the way Xi Yan's psionics naturally countered the Shroud's power to completely erase the marks it had placed on various worlds, preventing it from using those marks to invade reality en masse.
Some might ask: if the Shroud's goal was to merge reality with itself, how was that any different from Wuzha Fei's goal?
The Shroud invaded reality by marking colonies, then projecting its power through those marks to devour their populations and strengthen itself. Its power would snowball until it finally amassed enough strength to break through the barrier and descend in its true form. It was a gradual process. (Probably.)
The Aetherophasic Engine used in Wuzha Fei's Aetherophasic Engine operation directly tore open the barrier and drained the entire Shroud of its energy, helping him ascend to a world on a higher plane than either the Real Universe or the Shroud. The resulting subspace backlash blew up reality as a bonus, leaving nothing of either the Shroud or reality.
As it turned out, when players really went all out, they could wreak more destruction than any of the Shroud's monsters and demons!
