Each of the three agents' consciousnesses took control of a portion of the nanite swarm and went into hiding on the Starfish Homeworld, that azure ocean planet, waiting for the day their homeland called upon them.
They would use the nanites at their disposal to assimilate this planet.

Nanomaterials could do anything. Not only could they emulate everything, they could also assimilate everything.
These three agents would carry out a prolonged, lethal strike against the Starfish Homeworld. Their nanites would slowly assimilate the matter on it, converting it into more nanites.
The nanite swarms would build underground bases, assemble robot populations, and constantly expand, raising a nanite army much like the Contingency's machine worlds.
Eventually, when war came, a fleet or an army would suddenly emerge from the Starfish Homeworld and destroy the planet's defenses outright!
Even without a war, the entire planet would be converted into a Nanite World within a few decades. By then, the Starfish Homeworld would cease to exist!
