As it turned out, although the pirates liked to follow their instincts and rarely thought rationally, those instincts were generally on the mark. After all, "instinct" was also part of psionics.
When they learned that the Psionics User possessed a power as formidable as Subspace navigation, most of the pirates were willing to leave with them, apart from a few hopeless cases.
The Chosen fleet was about to reach the Federation's End system. One trip through the wormhole would let them catch these pirates in the Isomer's Gate system. Given that the pirates had destroyed their colonies, it was easy to imagine how furiously the Chosen would retaliate.
So why stick around? Time to run, run, run!
The pirate fleet gathered in the Isomer's Gate system, laden with plunder, then crossed the azure wormhole and temporarily anchored at the edge of the star's gravitational field.
The Psionics User from the Nais pirate band was respectfully invited aboard the Marauders fleet's Galley Warship flagship to serve as navigator. All the other pirate fleets followed that ship to avoid losing their way.
Just before leaving the Isomer Cluster, they performed one final blood sacrifice-slaughtering millions of Xarenoi captives before the Psionics User so that these miserable beasts would feel utter shock and terror before they died.
The Psionics User captured all those emotions. After absorbing their despair and pain, he stood at the very front of the Galley Warship's bridge. Bloody tears streamed from his eyes as he looked through the transparent glass, but they also allowed him to see the reflections of stars in Subspace.
"There! Head that way!"
He reached out and pointed in a direction.
Relying on his perception of Subspace, the Psionics User would continually point out the way for the enormous fleet. Though this method was crude,
