"Sha~"

Morning sunlight streamed into the classroom of the final-year high school students. A piece of chalk cut through the air, flying straight toward the corner of the back row.

The students stifled their laughter, their eyes following the chalk.

Smack!

Pain shot through Ye Qing's forehead as the chalk bounced off him. His blurry vision gradually cleared, and his muddled mind began to wake up.

A voice full of exasperation came from the podium. "Ye Qing, stand up and answer this question!"

"Huh?"

Ye Qing stood up reflexively and looked at the blackboard.

[How many Abilities does Bulbasaur have, and what are they?]

"Garlic toad?"

Ye Qing blurted out the affectionate nickname without giving the question much thought.

"Pfft, hahahahaha!"

The classroom fell silent for a moment, then erupted in laughter. His classmates slapped their desks, delighted by his answer. Some even laughed until tears came out!

Ye Qing was bewildered. Why would his homeroom teacher ask a question about something from an anime? Surely a man his age wouldn't watch Pokémon?

"Did sleeping mess up my eyes? How did everything change after one nap?"

Ye Qing sat down, staring blankly ahead as he muttered in confusion.

"Ye Qing, did I tell you to sit down? How do you manage to treat everything your teacher says like hot air? Garlic toad? You're the one who looks like a toad!"

"Hahahaha!"

Another deafening roar of laughter erupted in the classroom. Every eye turned toward Ye Qing in the back row.

"Hahaha, I've transmigrated! And into a Pokémon world!"

Ignoring his homeroom teacher's bellowing, Ye Qing seemed to have figured things out. He opened the textbook on his desk, thrilled by the vivid Pokédex entries depicting one Pokémon after another!

"Stop laughing! Ye Qing, you rank dead last in this class! How do you still have the nerve to laugh?"

Sorting out his thoughts, Ye Qing stared straight at the question on the blackboard and answered confidently. "Bulbasaur has two Abilities: Overgrow and Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is its Hidden Ability."

"Overgrow increases the power of Grass-type moves by fifty percent when a Pokémon's injuries push it close to its limit in battle."

"Chlorophyll doubles a Pokémon's Speed during Sunny Day or harsh sunlight caused by Drought."

The classroom went utterly silent. Though this basic question wasn't difficult, it certainly shouldn't have been so easy for Ye Qing, whose exam scores were always in the single digits. Looking at him standing there so confidently, everyone suddenly felt as though they no longer knew him.

Even Liu Jianguo at the podium was taken aback by Ye Qing's answer. He knew this student well. No one could shake Ye Qing's hold on the throne of last place!

Liu Jianguo tapped the desk with the blackboard eraser and continued, sounding pleased. "What can Gloom evolve into? What conditions are required for each evolution?"

Ye Qing glanced at his classmates, whose eyes were all on him. "A Sun Stone evolves it into Bellossom, and a Leaf Stone evolves it into Vileplume. Also, Gloom may not look pretty, but its saliva is top-quality nectar!"

Shock spread across his classmates' faces. A few even dropped the gel pens they had been holding between their teeth.

Suppressing his surprise, Liu Jianguo decided to raise the difficulty. "Which Fighting-type moves can Dragonite learn?"

Ye Qing frowned slightly, then met the gaze of the class beauty, who was staring at him, and smiled. "Focus Blast and Brick Break."

The class beauty covered her mouth. Even she didn't know the answer to that question. As a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, Dragonite was incredibly rare. They normally only heard snippets about it online, let alone learned what moves it could use.

Everyone's surprise gradually turned to admiration, then to awe. The teacher's question was clearly beyond the syllabus. None of them knew the answer either.

Liu Jianguo took a sip of tea and gestured for Ye Qing to sit down. Holding back his many questions, he resumed the lesson, determined to give the boy a thorough grilling after school!

Ye Qing sat back down. After that round of questions, the shock of transmigrating had all but faded.

Flocks of Pidgey flew past the window. He watched students riding Ponyta across the sports field, then looked at a Caterpie perched on the windowsill, staring at him with its head tilted.

Its sparkling eyes seemed to ask, "Hey, kid, what are you looking at? Planning to train me into a Rayquaza?"

Looking around the classroom, Ye Qing had never imagined he would transmigrate into a world where Pokémon and reality had merged. Fortunately, his parents were still the same parents, and his classmates were still the same classmates.

The lesson soon ended. After calming himself down, Ye Qing wanted to take out his phone and search online for this world's history.

"No phone?"

Ye Qing patted his pockets, looking bewildered. Only after a moment did he remember that his teacher had confiscated his phone yesterday.

"Wang Yao, let me borrow your phone!"

Ye Qing poked his best friend, who sat diagonally across from him, with a pen and whispered while leaning over his desk.

His best friend was ridiculously handsome and had always been popular with girls. He hadn't let that face go to waste, earning himself the flattering nickname of the school's king of living off women.

Wang Yao jumped in surprise and sneaked a glance at their homeroom teacher, who was marking assignments at the front. Only after confirming that the teacher hadn't noticed them did he whisper back, "Quit messing around. Why would I bring a phone if I'm not looking at pictures?"

"You can borrow mine."

Just as Ye Qing was wondering what to do, the class beauty passed by while collecting assignments. She took out her phone and handed it to him.

"Huh? Thanks."

Ye Qing accepted it. Watching her walk away with a smile, he shook his head, marveling at how many kind people there were.

"Must be nice to be rich."

Ye Qing fiddled with the newly released Fruit 11, then began looking up information.

The first thing that greeted him was a wallpaper of a beautiful, captivating Gardevoir. As for why the class beauty had suddenly lent him her phone...

Smack! Ye Qing slapped himself. He really was a terrible person. How could he get distracted while looking at Gardevoir?

The appearance of Pokémon had made this world's history vastly different from that of his previous life!

In ancient times, prehistoric Pokémon appeared, and the number of Pokémon species gradually increased.

Hundreds of millions of years ago, Kabuto and the original form of Genesect appeared.

One hundred million years ago, Lileep went extinct, Cranidos and Tirtouga appeared, and Tyrantrum reigned supreme. Relicanth remained unchanged to the present day.

Tens of thousands of years ago, Pokémon such as Kabuto and Omanyte went extinct.

The dynasties that followed remained unchanged, except for the addition of Pokémon.

Lü Bu swept through rival warlords astride a Rapidash. Meng Huo rode a Mamoswine, unstoppable wherever he went. Zhao Zilong rode a Zebstrika into an army of thousands and bravely rescued A Dou!

It was not until a hundred years ago, when a master craftsman hollowed out a Berry and placed a special net inside it to catch Pokémon, that the profession of Pokémon Trainer first stepped onto the world stage.

Berry Balls became the spark that ignited the First World War.

As Berry Balls continued to improve and the number of first-generation Trainers grew, the Second World War broke out.

After the war, the Pokémon League rapidly rose to power. With members around the globe, it held an undisputed position of leadership.

Meanwhile, technology also advanced rapidly with the help of Pokémon.

Finally, in the early nineties, modern red-and-white Poké Balls truly made their debut. To seize resources, countries around the world made raising outstanding Trainers their top priority!
