Without their leader imposing his will on them, the three Genesect remained hostile toward Ye Qing, but did not immediately attack.
Sensing the disturbance, Infernape instantly darted in front of his trainer. The other Pokémon were quick to react as well, and for a moment, both sides grew somewhat heated.
"Stand down before this princess!"
Diancie stood at the very front, the little princess glaring at them with an adorable ferocity.
"Don't attack."
Water Card Genesect moved between Ye Qing and the other Genesect to prevent a clash.
"Everyone, calm down.
I think your leader was being controlled by someone evil. Think about it. You've only just been revived from fossils. There's no reason for you to come all this way specifically to kill me."
Ye Qing explained patiently. Genesect were Mythical Pokémon, after all, so their intelligence certainly wasn't an issue.
The three Genesect exchanged glances. They had wanted to kill this human because their leader had ordered them to. As for why, they didn't know either.
Now that their leader was gone, whether they killed this human no longer mattered.
Water Card Genesect also explained that Ye Qing would help everyone find their homeland, so he wasn't an enemy.
The mention of their homeland saddened the three Genesect as well.
Since their revival, the outside world had changed completely. Cities of steel and towering buildings-none of these things had existed three hundred million years ago.
Their unfamiliar surroundings frightened and saddened them, leaving them with the desolate feeling of having been abandoned by the world.
Watching the three Genesect calm down, Ye Qing began thinking about where to settle them temporarily.
After all, finding Celebi wouldn't happen overnight. That little fellow was even less reliable than Mew, and whether Celebi would answer his call was still an open
