Arc 11Thunder City to Fragrance City

Ye Qing exposed Ma Yinlei’s attempt to open a Space-Time Gate, helped save Kirlia and the forest, then resumed his journey and earned the Grass-type Badge. In Fragrance City, Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan reappeared as Ye Qing escaped a confrontation with Zhong Tianlin and Zhang Tingting.

  • Ye Qing defeated Ma Yinlei’s Gym Pokémon, but Ma Yinlei trapped him and Kirlia while using Raikou to open a Space-Time Gate.
  • Mewtwo rescued Ye Qing, who found Kirlia’s brain badly damaged, then took him to Celebi’s shrine as Hunter J’s forces set the forest ablaze.

  • Ye Qing earned the Grass-type Badge in Fragrance City after Infernape defeated Zhang Tingting’s Ninetales and Ye Zhiqiu’s Breloom and Torterra.
  • Zhong Tianlin confronted Ye Qing over Zhang Tingting, while Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan attacked her, and Ye Qing teleported away from the ensuing fight.
Chapters 251–275 Vol. 3 Read

Ch. 251Riddled with Suspicions

Ye Qing’s Infernape defeated Ma Yinlei’s Magneton after Lairon lost, but Ma Yinlei then sent out a powerful Electrode that appeared to be his personal Pokémon. Ye Qing suspected the Gym Leader had an undisclosed reason for changing the match rules and using it.

  • Ma Yinlei’s Magneton defeated Ye Qing’s paralyzed Lairon by attacking from above with Electro Ball.
  • Ye Qing sent out Infernape, which overwhelmed Magneton with Fake Out, Mach Punch, and a Flame Wheel before finishing it with Fury Swipes.
  • Ma Yinlei brought out a healthy Level 33 Electrode with B- potential, and Ye Qing realized it was likely one of the Gym Leader’s own Pokémon.
  • Ye Qing wondered why Ma Yinlei had changed the Gym match rules and used a personal Pokémon, but he could not identify what the man wanted.

Ch. 252Electrode's Special Trick

Ye Qing’s Infernape struggled against Ma Yinlei’s Electrode, whose Magnet Rise and Rollout let it turn airborne rocks into weapons. Infernape managed to knock Electrode away, but Electrode paralyzed him and left him badly hampered.

  • Ye Qing ordered Infernape to use Encore against Electrode’s Magnet Rise, but Ma Yinlei revealed that the move could pull rocks into the air as platforms.
  • Electrode bounced between the floating rocks to evade Flamethrower, then broke through Infernape’s Counter Shield with Spark.
  • Ma Yinlei had Electrode use Rollout to escape Infernape’s pursuit, and Ye Qing sent Infernape after it with Double Team and Flare Blitz.
  • Electrode collided with Infernape and dragged the floating rocks into him, while Infernape used Fury Swipes to knock them aside.
  • Electrode pinned Infernape with a charge, but Infernape struck it away with his tail; the contact left Infernape paralyzed and struggling to move.

Ch. 253A past too painful to recall

Ye Qing’s Infernape and Ma Yinlei’s Electrode knocked each other out in a battle that ended with Electrode’s Self-Destruct. Ma Yinlei then sent out Galvantula to trap Kirlia, but Ye Qing countered with a concealed Aerodactyl, while Hunter J’s plan to capture Raikou continued.

  • Ye Qing urged his paralyzed Infernape to fight by threatening to reveal an embarrassing childhood incident, and Infernape built up its strength with Bulk Up.
  • Infernape struck Electrode with Focus Punch, and Ma Yinlei used Self-Destruct; Ye Qing protected himself, but the blast knocked both Pokémon out.
  • Kirlia healed Infernape while Ye Qing treated him, and Ma Yinlei received a message from his secretary before sending a reply.
  • Hunter J learned that Raikou was sedated and aboard her transport plane, then ordered her aide to hurry before the other sacred beasts sensed the capture.
  • Ma Yinlei sent out Galvantula to restrict Kirlia, but Ye Qing revealed Aerodactyl, shocking Ma Yinlei.

Ch. 254A storm was brewing

Ye Qing defeated Ma Yinlei’s Galvantula and received the Electric-type Gym badge, but the storm outside and strange activity inside the Gym made him suspect danger. Kirlia discovered that powerful Psychic energy had disrupted the surrounding space, preventing her from using Teleport as Ye Qing tried to leave.

  • Ma Yinlei ordered Pokémon to use Rain Dance, bringing a torrential storm over part of Thunder City as a silver-haired woman approached by plane and Salamence.
  • Ye Qing’s Aerodactyl broke through Galvantula’s attacks and defeated it with a barrage of rocks.
  • Ma Yinlei abruptly awarded Ye Qing the Gym badge, then questioned him about Kirlia’s ability to foresee the future.
  • Ma Yinlei released Hypno to disrupt the space and entered a secret room while Electivire remained by the Gym entrance.
  • Ye Qing decided to leave, but Kirlia sensed overwhelming Psychic energy and told him she could no longer use Teleport.

Ch. 255A sudden turn

Ye Qing was trapped at the Electric-type Gym as Ma Yinlei and Hunter J prepared to activate the Spacetime Gate, while Mewtwo fought Rayquaza and Entei rushed to Raikou’s aid. The chapter ended with Ye Qing beaten and Kirlia restrained as Infernape charged Hypno.

  • Ye Qing tried to leave with Kirlia, but Electivire blocked the doorway and forced him to call for help.
  • Entei sensed that Raikou was in trouble, left Cynthia’s skyscraper to help, and Cynthia sent two Elite Four members after it.
  • Rayquaza attacked Mewtwo in the sky, knocking it back while Mew failed to understand Ye Qing’s call for help.
  • Hunter J’s subordinates tied Raikou to a lightning rod and drove wild Pokémon toward Thunder City to distract the authorities.
  • Ma Yinlei ordered a final calibration of the Spacetime Gate, then restrained Kirlia and had Hypno attack Ye Qing and his Pokémon.
  • Ye Qing was thrown outside and injured, while Infernape rushed at Hypno to protect him.

Ch. 256Brain death

Ma Yinlei and Hunter J opened the Space-Time Gate by draining power from Raikou, Kirlia, and the other Pokémon, then entered the vortex with their followers. Mewtwo rescued Ye Qing, but Ye Qing learned that Kirlia’s psychic power had been overdrawn and left her brain-dead, and he began thinking of Legendary Pokémon that might revive her.

  • Hypno and Electivire overwhelmed Ye Qing, Lairon, and Aerodactyl while Ma Yinlei took Kirlia into the secret chamber.
  • Ma Yinlei connected Kirlia and the other Pokémon to the machine, used Raikou’s electricity to open the Space-Time Gate, and entered it with Hunter J and their followers.
  • Ye Qing struck Electivire after losing control, and Mewtwo appeared and defeated Electivire and Hypno.
  • Mewtwo broke open the alloy door, and Ye Qing found Kirlia and the other Pokémon unconscious beside the gate.
  • Mewtwo told Ye Qing that Kirlia’s brain was damaged beyond recovery, and Ye Qing began naming Legendary Pokémon that might revive her.

Ch. 257The Ancestral Shrine (Thanks to Xuan Yimo for the Great God Certification!)

Ye Qing took the GS Ball to an Ancestral Shrine in hopes of finding Celebi to heal Kirlia, while Ma Yinlei’s failed experiment left him stranded in the Spirit World before he escaped and ordered the forest burned. The GS Ball began to resonate at the shrine, and Mewtwo sensed that the approaching aura was familiar but not Celebi’s.

  • Ye Qing asked Mewtwo to take him to find Celebi, and Mewtwo cleared the storm clouds over the forest with its psychic power.
  • Ma Yinlei realized his machine had transported him and Hunter J to the Spirit World, then escaped with them through a Dusknoir portal that closed before the others could pass.
  • Hunter J ordered her subordinates to set the forest on fire, while Entei and Suicune hurried toward their distressed brother Raikou.
  • Mewtwo brought Ye Qing to an Ancestral Shrine, where Ye Qing placed the GS Ball before a statue of Celebi, but it initially did not react.
  • Mew sensed Ye Qing’s call and vanished from the bottom of a lake as the air around the GS Ball began to ripple.
  • Mewtwo sensed that the aura responding to the GS Ball was familiar and frowned.

Ch. 258The Mythical Pokémon Celebi

Ye Qing, Mewtwo, and Mew rescued people and Pokémon from a forest fire set by Ma Yinlei’s group as they waited for Celebi to appear. Celebi arrived at the burning forest, and Ye Qing stopped Trainers from trying to catch it.

  • Helicopters dropped gasoline and the forest caught fire, while wild Pokémon rampaged through Thunder City.
  • Mewtwo summoned rain and Mew teleported trapped people and Pokémon to safety as Suicune tried to freeze the flames.
  • Ye Qing distributed water to the rescued and released Infernape to help as Mew continued evacuating survivors.
  • Space-time ripples appeared near the shrine, and Celebi emerged, grieving over the burning forest.
  • Trainers tried to throw Poké Balls at Celebi, but Infernape knocked them away and Ye Qing warned them not to attack it.

Ch. 259Chaotic Battle

Ye Qing watched Ma Yinlei and Hunter J attack Celebi to seize the Spacetime Ripples while Mewtwo fought Rayquaza in the sky. The chapter ended with Ma Yinlei and Hunter J launching their Pokémon against Celebi, Suicune, and Entei as Ye Qing called for Mew.

  • Entei helped Suicune extinguish the forest fire while Raikou went to Thunder City to stop the wild Pokémon rampage.
  • Rayquaza pursued the injured Mewtwo, and the two clashed above the ozone layer.
  • Celebi restored the scorched forest, then Ma Yinlei arrived and tried to steal the Spacetime Ripples with his machine.
  • Ye Qing recognized Zeraora beside Ma Yinlei and feared the Mythical Pokémon's speed and power.
  • Suicune and Entei stood beside Celebi, while Ma Yinlei released his Pokémon and ordered Zeraora to attack; Hunter J released her own Pokémon as well.
  • Ye Qing called for Mew as Ma Yinlei and Hunter J began their attack.

Ch. 260Killed with a Single Punch

Ye Qing and his Pokémon joined the battle to protect Celebi from Ma Yinlei and Hunter J’s forces, while Mewtwo and Rayquaza fought overhead. Hunter J fled as Pokémon League reinforcements approached, and Infernape killed Ma Yinlei before he could reach the space-time ripples.

  • Ma Yinlei and Hunter J attacked Celebi and the Legendary Pokémon while their forces fought to reach the space-time ripples.
  • Mew returned to Ye Qing’s side, then helped Celebi fight Zeraora and shielded Ye Qing from Ampharos’s attack.
  • Hunter J recalled her Pokémon and escaped when Pokémon League reinforcements appeared on the horizon.
  • Ma Yinlei ordered his Pokémon to cover his attempt to reach the space-time ripples as Entei, Suicune, and the others fought his forces.
  • Infernape rushed past Mega Ampharos and killed Ma Yinlei with a series of brutal attacks.

Ch. 261Hatching the Little Shark

Ye Qing and his Pokémon defeated Ma Yinlei’s forces, and Celebi revived Kirlia before helping Gible’s egg begin to hatch. Celebi declined to travel with Ye Qing, while Mewtwo and Rayquaza continued fighting in the sky.

  • Infernape killed Ma Yinlei, and Entei and Suicune defeated the remaining Pokémon as Zeraora fled.
  • Celebi restored Kirlia, who woke up and gained five levels, reaching level thirty.
  • Ye Qing chose not to capture Celebi with the GS Ball and asked it to travel with him, but Celebi refused because it still had forests and wild Pokémon to protect.
  • Celebi touched Gible’s egg, making it pulse with a strong heartbeat, while Entei and Suicune left with Ampharos’s Mega Stone.
  • Ye Qing and the others noticed the battle between Mewtwo and Rayquaza still raging overhead, and Celebi offered to help.

Ch. 262Powerful Talent

Ye Qing watched Gible hatch into a Shiny Totem Pokémon, then returned to the city after Mew and Celebi departed. He ended the day with a Key Stone but realized he needed to protect himself without relying on Mewtwo and Mew.

  • Celebi restored the damaged plants with life-energy ribbons while Ye Qing waited for Mewtwo’s battle with Rayquaza to end.
  • Ye Qing’s Pokémon Egg hatched into a Shiny Totem Gible, who immediately bit Celebi and then burrowed into the ground to eat dirt and rocks.
  • Mew and Celebi left after Mewtwo told everyone to go, and Ye Qing found a bloodstained Key Stone but no Mega Stone.
  • Ye Qing took his Pokémon to a Pokémon Center for examinations, checked into a hotel, and called Professor Qian to request Pokéblocks for Gible.
  • Professor Qian warned Ye Qing that things had been unsettled lately, prompting Ye Qing to recognize that he could not depend on Mewtwo and Mew to protect him.

Ch. 263An Invitation to Tea

Ye Qing tried to keep the Key Stone he had taken from Ma Yinlei and avoided telling the Public Security Bureau what he knew about the Electric-type Gym incident. When questioning grew tense, he called Professor Qian and asked for Cynthia’s number.

  • Ye Qing decided not to hand over the Key Stone necklace he had taken from Ma Yinlei.
  • Two Thunder City Public Security Bureau Investigators arrived to question Ye Qing about the Electric-type Gym and the events involving Ma Yinlei.
  • Ye Qing claimed he had been knocked unconscious and lost his memory, then asked to make a phone call.
  • Ye Qing called Professor Qian, who said he lacked authority to intervene and was still trying to learn what had happened.
  • Ye Qing asked Professor Qian for Cynthia’s number, surprising the female Investigator and leaving Professor Qian wondering whether Ye Qing knew Cynthia.

Ch. 264The headache-inducing Gible

Ye Qing called Cynthia to stop Investigators from taking him in over Ma Yinlei’s death and the Key Stone, then left the city to avoid further scrutiny. On the road, he trained Kirlia and struggled to control his newly hatched Gible, who repeatedly bit his Pokémon.

  • Ye Qing called Cynthia, who recognized his name and contacted the authorities after hearing his explanation.
  • The female Investigator received orders from her Director, apologized to Ye Qing, and let him leave.
  • Ye Qing checked his Pokémon, gathered supplies, collected Pokéblocks, and left the city immediately.
  • Ye Qing traveled through the forest for two days, focusing on helping Kirlia consolidate her strength.
  • At a riverside stop, Gible bit Infernape and then latched onto Lairon's head, leaving Ye Qing and the others to deal with his unruly behavior.

Ch. 265Trouble at Home

Ye Qing learned from Wang Yao that strange paper ash had begun falling in South Forest Alley, but confirmed his mother and the Pokémon at home were safe. He resumed training his Pokémon by a waterfall while Gible remained clamped onto Lairon's head.

  • Milotic blasted Lairon and Gible with Hydro Pump, but Gible kept biting Lairon's head until Ye Qing stopped Infernape from prying him loose.
  • Ye Qing realized Gible was attracted to the meteorite iron Lairon had eaten and tried unsuccessfully to lure Gible away with food.
  • Wang Yao told Ye Qing that paper ash was falling in South Forest Alley, though the Pokémon League had sent help and experts expected no immediate danger.
  • Ye Qing called his mother, who said the family was safe at home with their Pokémon.
  • Ye Qing resumed special training, asking Kirlia to hold up a waterfall with Confusion and sending Lairon to climb against the current with Gible still on his head.

Ch. 266Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan

Ye Qing and his Pokémon encountered an injured Marowak protecting a Baby Kangaskhan, and Kirlia used healing and her calming nature to earn their trust. Marowak recovered enough to relax but fainted, while Kirlia comforted the frightened Baby Kangaskhan.

  • Ye Qing noticed an injured Marowak and a Baby Kangaskhan approaching the training area, and recognized the unusual pair.
  • Marowak shielded Baby Kangaskhan and warned Milotic away when she tried to help.
  • Ye Qing sent Kirlia over with Healing Spray, and Kirlia stopped Marowak’s attack by sharing her gentle intentions.
  • Kirlia treated Marowak, who then fainted from exhaustion as her injuries improved.
  • Kirlia picked up Baby Kangaskhan and soothed her with healing light, making the little Pokémon feel safe.

Ch. 267Bonded Great Sage?

Ye Qing examined the unconscious Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan, suspected the Marowak had once been a Kangaskhan, and let the juvenile stay with Kirlia. After Marowak awoke and challenged Infernape, Ye Qing refereed their fight, which began with Infernape striking her with Mach Punches.

  • Ye Qing examined Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan and suspected Marowak had once been a Baby Kangaskhan who later became a Cubone.
  • Ye Qing fed the two Pokémon and let Baby Kangaskhan stay with Kirlia instead of returning to training.
  • Infernape secretly took Marowak's bone club and swung it around, prompting Ye Qing to imagine him as a Bonded Great Sage.
  • Marowak woke, reclaimed her bone club from Infernape, and challenged him to a duel.
  • Ye Qing agreed to referee, and Infernape vanished before Marowak could throw her club, then struck her with a barrage of Mach Punches.

Ch. 268Was Bro Monkey Really This Weak?

Infernape lost a sparring match to Marowak, and Ye Qing then watched Milotic challenge the little fighter. Milotic overwhelmed Marowak with Hydro Pump and Ice Beam, leaving her frozen in ice.

  • Marowak used her bone club and Ground-type attacks to hurt Infernape before knocking him down in their sparring match.
  • Ye Qing stopped Infernape and treated both Pokémon, while Marowak proudly surveyed the team.
  • Milotic accepted Ye Qing's challenge, and Infernape and Lairon moved aside to watch her fight Marowak.
  • Marowak attacked first, but Milotic blasted her backward with Hydro Pump.
  • Milotic followed with Ice Beam, freezing Marowak and her bone club.

Ch. 269The reason

Ye Qing defeated Marowak with Milotic, then learned that Marowak had lost her mother and was protecting an orphaned Baby Kangaskhan. After Marowak revealed that a human, not a Pokémon, was responsible for the Kangaskhan's death, she left to find the mother's body.

  • Milotic defeated Marowak with a torrent of water and Water Pulse, reaching level thirty-seven as Kirlia healed the fallen Marowak.
  • Ye Qing offered Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan Pokéblocks and asked about their mothers.
  • Marowak confirmed that the bone on her head was her own mother's skull, while Baby Kangaskhan cried at the memory of her recently deceased mother.
  • Ye Qing asked whether a Pokémon had killed Baby Kangaskhan's mother, and Marowak shook her head before angrily explaining that Ye Qing could not understand her words.
  • Marowak took Baby Kangaskhan and set off to find the child's mother's body.

Ch. 270Fragrance City

Ye Qing declined to meet Cynthia despite accepting her offer of a Key Stone, then traveled to Fragrance City to challenge its Grass-type Gym. As a reckless boy rode a Gogoat through the crowded shopping street, Su Yiqin called Ye Qing about what happened after their trip to New Island.

  • Marowak refused Ye Qing’s offer to help find a Kangaskhan and left with Baby Kangaskhan.
  • Cynthia offered Ye Qing the Key Stone and asked to meet, but he claimed to be busy and turned her down.
  • Ye Qing chose the Grass-type Gym as his next Badge challenge and sent his mother another two million for household expenses and Pokémon care.
  • Ye Qing arrived in Fragrance City and browsed its flower-filled shopping street with Kirlia.
  • A green-haired boy recklessly charged through the crowd on a Gogoat, while Ye Qing moved aside and answered Su Yiqin’s call.
  • Su Yiqin told Ye Qing she had somehow ended up back at the docks after their trip to New Island.

Ch. 271Grass-type Gym (Thanks to Mischievous Boy for the Super Fan Certification!)

Ye Qing visited the Grass-type Gym in Fragrance City, where he admired its botanical garden, expensive admission, and attentive service while waiting to challenge the Gym Leader. He learned that challenges were double battles with randomly assigned teammates, and his turn was about to begin.

  • Ye Qing reassured Su Yiqin that the money her family had given him was voluntary and mentioned Cynthia, making Su Yiqin decide there was no need to ask further.
  • Ye Qing bought a full-price ticket to the Grass-type Gym and toured its botanical garden, where he recalled Kirlia after visitors crowded around her shiny appearance.
  • Number 11 welcomed Ye Qing, offered to show him around, and served him tea while he read the Gym's double-battle rules and list of challenge Pokémon.
  • Number 11 explained that Trainers were randomly paired to test their adaptability, and Ye Qing suspected the rule also encouraged repeat visits and ticket purchases.
  • Ye Qing asked for food, ate the meal Number 11 brought him, and learned that his turn was coming up.

Ch. 272A suspicious woman

Ye Qing was paired with Zhang Tingting, the arrogant daughter of Fragrance City’s Trainer Association president, for a Gym battle against Ye Zhiqiu. After Zhang ordered Ye Qing to stay out of the fight, Ye Zhiqiu’s Torterra and Breloom attacked her Ninetales, leaving the battle underway.

  • Ye Qing watched several Gym battles, then discovered his turn had been called and was paired with Zhang Tingting.
  • Zhang Tingting introduced herself as the daughter of Elite Four Zhang and ordered Ye Qing not to get in her way.
  • Ye Zhiqiu sent out Torterra and Breloom, while Ye Qing brought out Infernape and chose to let Zhang battle alone.
  • Zhang commanded Ninetales to use Flamethrower, but Ye Zhiqiu countered with Earth Power and sent Breloom in to attack.
  • Ye Zhiqiu ordered Razor Leaf and Bullet Seed as Zhang told Ninetales to dodge with Quick Attack.

Ch. 273Baffling confidence

Ye Zhiqiu defeated Zhang Tingting’s Ninetales with a coordinated attack from Torterra and Breloom, while Zhang struggled to accept the loss. As Ye Qing prepared to challenge the Gym, Breloom attacked his Infernape, and the battle continued when Torterra charged in to protect Breloom.

  • Ye Zhiqiu used Torterra and Breloom’s coordinated moves to corner Ninetales, then Breloom’s Counter turned her Flare Blitz back on her and Torterra finished her off.
  • Zhang Tingting could not accept Ninetales’s defeat and questioned why she had lost despite her type advantage.
  • Ye Qing stepped forward to challenge the Gym, but Breloom rushed at Infernape with Drain Punch to recover his stamina.
  • Infernape stopped Breloom’s Drain Punch with a slap and struck him with Fire Punch, knocking him to the ground.
  • Ye Zhiqiu sent Torterra charging at Infernape with Double-Edge as Breloom got back up, and Ye Qing recognized the charge as an attempt to close the distance and draw his attention away from Breloom.

Ch. 274The Grass Badge

Ye Qing defeated Ye Zhiqiu’s Torterra and earned the Grass-type Badge, bringing his Gym badges to four. As he left the Gym, he noticed Zhang Tingting and the Gogoat rider approaching him in a quiet alley.

  • Ye Qing used Infernape’s Double Team and Flamethrower to defeat Zhang Tingting’s Ninetales and Ye Zhiqiu’s Breloom.
  • Ye Qing’s Infernape overcame Torterra’s attacks and knocked him out with Fire Punch.
  • Ye Zhiqiu gave Ye Qing the Grass-type Badge and advised him not to hold Zhang Tingting’s childish behavior against her.
  • Ye Qing left the Gym with Kirlia and sensed someone following him in a sparsely traveled alley.
  • Ye Qing saw Zhang Tingting approaching with the young man who had previously raced by on a Gogoat.

Ch. 275The truth of the matter

Ye Qing clashed with Zhong Tianlin after he confronted him on Zhang Tingting’s behalf, but the dispute was interrupted when Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan attacked Zhang Tingting. As the Pokémon battle began, Ye Qing realized the two newcomers had a grudge against her and escaped after Zhong Tianlin’s Gengar ambushed him.

  • Zhong Tianlin challenged Ye Qing for allegedly bullying Zhang Tingting, and Ye Qing mocked him rather than backing down.
  • Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan appeared, and Baby Kangaskhan charged at Zhang Tingting before Marowak joined the attack.
  • Ye Qing and Zhang Tingting released their Pokémon, while Ye Qing sent Kirlia to carry him out of the immediate fight.
  • Zhong Tianlin sent out Flygon as Scizor attacked Infernape, and Kirlia teleported Ye Qing behind Zhong Tianlin.
  • Gengar struck at Kirlia from Zhong Tianlin’s shadow, but Ye Qing teleported beside Marowak and Baby Kangaskhan, recalled his Pokémon, and escaped.
