Chapters 426–450 Vol. 5 Read

Ch. 426Bonded Great Sage vs. Garchomp

Ye Qing and his bonded Infernape fought Garchomp at Crescent Moon Lake, while their Pokémon struggled to keep the wild Pokémon from overwhelming them. After Garchomp badly wounded Infernape, Infernape’s Blaze power surged and he unleashed a greatly enlarged Fire Punch as Garchomp tried to defend himself.

  • Infernape transformed through bonding with Ye Qing and struck Garchomp with a Charcoal-boosted Fire Punch, driving him into the lakebed.
  • Garchomp fired Draco Meteor, then used his speed to attack Infernape while Krookodile blocked the others from helping.
  • Garchomp’s allies attacked Ye Qing’s group, and Infernape was left badly hurt in a crater, sharing his pain with Ye Qing.
  • Garchomp dove at Infernape, but Ye Qing urged him to keep fighting, triggering Infernape’s Blaze and doubling the size of his flaming ape.
  • Infernape swung a massive Fire Punch at Garchomp, who abandoned his attack and crossed his claws to block it.

Ch. 427The Unwanted Garchomp

Ye Qing and Infernape defeated Garchomp, but Ye Qing decided the difficult, disobedient Pokémon would be better kept at home than on his team. After recovering from the battle, Gabite tried to imitate Garchomp’s Draco Meteor and prepared to keep practicing.

  • Infernape struck Garchomp with a powerful Fire Punch, and Milotic carried the exhausted Infernape and Ye Qing back to shore.
  • Ye Qing considered Garchomp’s poor potential and unruly nature, then caught him in a Great Ball that was automatically locked as his seventh Poké Ball.
  • Ye Qing used Pokéblocks and healing potions to help his Pokémon recover, and he and Infernape agreed to practice the Bond Phenomenon more.
  • Gabite attempted to copy Garchomp’s Draco Meteor, but the energy fell back down and blasted a crater.
  • Ye Qing encouraged Gabite to keep practicing, and Gabite eagerly decided to find a Wild Pokémon to practice on.

Ch. 428The Warmhearted Absol

Ye Qing left the shelter’s defenses with Gardevoir and Absol to help a second Absol caught in the sandstorm. He healed the injured female Absol and agreed to search for Golisopod’s missing Trainer before teleporting the group away.

  • Ye Qing recalled his exhausted Pokémon and learned that Absol had sensed another Absol in the sandstorm.
  • Ye Qing checked in with Zhang Zhongxin, helped rescue a Trainer from an Onix, and then returned to Absol.
  • Ye Qing, Gardevoir, and Absol found Golisopod protecting an injured female Absol from wild Pokémon.
  • Gardevoir healed the female Absol while Golisopod explained that he had become separated from his Trainer and asked Ye Qing to find him.
  • Gardevoir sensed another person nearby, and Ye Qing had her teleport the group to search for Golisopod’s Trainer.

Ch. 429Subsiding

Ye Qing rescued Xie Yu from a Steelix and helped defend Crescent Moon Lake from the sandstorm’s wild Pokémon. After the storm subsided, the group began clearing the buried shelter, and Xie Yu prepared to leave to continue his Wilderness Challenge.

  • Ye Qing arrived to find Xie Yu clinging to Malamar and used Lairon’s Earthquake to knock down the surrounding Pokémon.
  • Ye Qing and Gardevoir teleported Xie Yu and the others back to Crescent Moon Lake, where Ye Qing joined Zhang Zhongxin’s defense.
  • Xie Yu showed off Malamar’s powerful hypnosis, turning attacking wild Pokémon against one another.
  • Ye Qing and Xie Yu’s Pokémon helped hold the line until the six-hour sandstorm weakened, and Lairon reached level 41 near evolution.
  • Zhang Zhongxin thanked Ye Qing and Xie Yu, while Onix dug out the shelter entrance from the sand.
  • Xie Yu said he would continue his Wilderness Challenge, exchanged contact details with Ye Qing, and promised to send him a gift in thanks.

Ch. 430The blue egg

Ye Qing left the oasis after the Sandstorm, accepting a blue Pokémon Egg from Yaoyao and hearing warnings about the dangerous Desert Gym and Nightmare Gang. Gardevoir Teleported him into the desert, where he wondered what Pokémon would hatch from the egg.

  • Ye Qing said goodbye to Zhang Zhongxin's family, and Yaoyao gave him a blue Pokémon Egg after he promised to visit her again.
  • Zhang Zhongxin warned Ye Qing that the Desert Gym Leader was eccentric and that the powerful Nightmare Gang controlled the area with the Gym Leader's backing.
  • Old Tusi apologized for the earlier misunderstanding and welcomed Ye Qing back, showing that the oasis residents had changed their attitude toward Absol.
  • Gardevoir Teleported Ye Qing away from the oasis, and he walked through the desert while guessing what Pokémon was inside the egg.

Ch. 431A Huge Power Slaking?

Ye Qing discovered that the egg contained an Azurill with Huge Power, bringing his plan to create a Huge Power Slaking closer to reality. He reached the desert city where the Desert Gym was located, paid to enter, and saw a violent clash erupt nearby.

  • Ye Qing scanned the egg and found it contained a female Azurill with Huge Power.
  • Ye Qing considered how to transfer Huge Power to a Slaking and decided to search for a high-potential Slakoth or Vigoroth after challenging the Desert Gym.
  • Ye Qing traveled across the desert with Gardevoir and Gengar and arrived at the walled city built around a massive oasis.
  • Scarface demanded a ten-thousand-yuan entry fee, and Ye Qing paid before entering the city with Gardevoir.
  • Ye Qing explored the busy city until a shop window shattered and a person was hurled out onto the street.

Ch. 432Desert City

Ye Qing gathered information about the Nightmare Gang in Desert City and learned its leader preyed on women and girls. Unable to unlock Garchomp’s Poké Ball at the Pokémon Center, he asked Dragon Tamer for help, and Dragon Tamer told him to contact Cynthia.

  • Scarface spotted Ye Qing’s shiny Gardevoir and planned to find out where they were staying before reporting to the Young Master.
  • Ye Qing questioned a candied-hawthorn vendor and other locals, learning that the Nightmare Gang’s leader used seduction, money, and force to take women and girls.
  • Ye Qing entered the Pokémon Center and asked a nurse to unlock Garchomp’s Poké Ball, but she said he needed a Pokémon League Association certificate and had to separate his Poké Balls by ten kilometers.
  • Ye Qing called Dragon Tamer and asked him to help unlock the ball, but Dragon Tamer said the decision was not his to make and told Ye Qing to ask Cynthia.

Ch. 433It paid to have connections

Ye Qing got Cynthia to authorize a three-day unlocking of Garchomp’s Poké Ball, then released Garchomp at his hotel. Garchomp resented the Poké Ball’s conditioning but found himself unable to feel hostile toward Ye Qing.

  • Ye Qing called Cynthia after the Dragon Tamer could not unlock Garchomp’s Poké Ball, and Cynthia agreed to unlock it for three days after he invoked Mewtwo.
  • Cynthia contacted the Pokémon Center director, who personally unlocked the Poké Ball and told Ye Qing it would relock in 71 hours, 56 minutes, and 10 seconds.
  • Ye Qing checked into a hotel and let his Pokémon out, then released Garchomp in the living area.
  • Garchomp emerged angrily, recalling the Poké Ball’s false images and brainwashing voices, but found he felt fondness rather than hostility toward Ye Qing.

Ch. 434The Nightmare Gang (Thanks to Yu Jiujiu for the Master Certification!)

Ye Qing failed to get Garchomp to obey and went to sleep, while Wei Shikang led his gang to punish a Pokémon Day Care for refusing to pay protection money. The chapter ended with the gang surrounding the establishment as locals feared for Old Xu’s family.

  • Ye Qing tried to make Garchomp fetch the air conditioner remote, but Garchomp ignored him, took Gabite’s Pokéblocks, and returned himself to his Poké Ball.
  • Ye Qing recalled the uncomfortable Milotic, told his Pokémon to rest, and went to sleep after the Sandstorm exhausted him.
  • Wei Shikang learned that the Pokémon Day Care on West Street had refused to pay protection money and set out to confront its owners.
  • Wei Shikang asked when his followers would bring him a Gardevoir, and they said it would take about another week.
  • Wei Shikang’s gang surrounded the Day Care, blocked passersby’s view with smoke and mist, and frightened locals who feared for Old Xu’s family.

Ch. 435Plotting to Take Gardevoir

Wei Shikang violently extorted Old Xu and tried to assault his daughter, but abandoned her after learning of Ye Qing’s shiny Gardevoir. After investigating Ye Qing’s background, Wei Shikang weighed whether to seize Gardevoir while avoiding trouble over the Champion Cynthia banner.

  • Wei Shikang’s men smashed Old Xu’s shop, subdued his Machamp, and demanded that Old Xu obey his rules.
  • Wei Shikang seized Old Xu’s daughter and threatened her, while Old Xu begged for mercy after her escape attempt failed.
  • Scarface reported that Ye Qing owned a shiny Gardevoir, and Wei Shikang left Old Xu’s shop to pursue her.
  • Wei Shikang’s men investigated Ye Qing and discovered his family had a silk banner from Champion Cynthia.
  • Mustache urged Wei Shikang to take Gardevoir but postpone killing Ye Qing, and Wei Shikang began considering the plan.

Ch. 436There were so many roads in the world, yet you chose a dead end

Wei Shikang and Mustache kidnapped the shiny Gardevoir using a staged fall to lure her out and put her to sleep. Ye Qing discovered she was missing, forced Garchomp to track her, and pursued the kidnappers as they arrived at a villa.

  • Mustache laid out a plan to make Gardevoir teleport to rescue a falling child, then have Muk and Hypno disable and hypnotize her.
  • Wei Shikang assured Mustache that Muk could hold Gardevoir, and the group threw an unconscious little girl from the roof.
  • Gardevoir saved the girl but was immobilized and put to sleep by Hypno, then carried away on a Pidgeot with Wei Shikang.
  • Gengar woke Ye Qing, who realized Gardevoir had been kidnapped and summoned Garchomp to find her scent.
  • Ye Qing used the Spoon Mark to make Garchomp comply, and they flew through the city toward Gardevoir while Gengar shielded Ye Qing from the wind and glass.
  • Wei Shikang and his group landed at a villa, where he ordered the others to guard the door and took the sleeping Gardevoir inside.

Ch. 437Collapse

Ye Qing attacked the Nightmare Gang’s villa to rescue Gardevoir and captured Wei Shikang after Garchomp and Infernape demolished the gang’s defenses. He confronted Wei Shikang in the sky and demanded that he reveal who was backing him.

  • Mustache stationed gang members around the villa while Wei Shikang brought the unconscious Gardevoir inside.
  • Ye Qing arrived and sent Garchomp and Infernape crashing into the villa as the Nightmare Gang’s Pokémon rose to attack.
  • Garchomp destroyed the villa, defeated Krookodile, and seized Wei Shikang, while Infernape sent the gang’s airborne Pokémon flying.
  • Ye Qing checked Gardevoir, had Garchomp take her to safety, and restrained Wei Shikang with Gengar.
  • Ye Qing slapped Wei Shikang and demanded that he call out whoever was backing him.

Ch. 438A blade cleaved the path between life and death

Ye Qing confronted Desert Gym Leader Wei Wufeng after taking his son Wei Shikang hostage, then castrated and killed Wei Shikang despite the threats. Wei Wufeng sent three Pokémon to attack Ye Qing, who prepared to counter with Dragon Rush.

  • Wei Wufeng learned that Wei Shikang had been taken hostage and rushed to the villa, where he rebuked Mustache for revealing their relationship.
  • Wei Wufeng demanded that Ye Qing release Wei Shikang, but Ye Qing asked how many women and children Wei Shikang had harmed.
  • Ye Qing stabbed Wei Shikang in the crotch, and Infernape burned the wound to prevent it from being healed.
  • Ye Qing killed Wei Shikang with a knife after Wei Shikang threatened him, enraging Wei Wufeng.
  • Wei Wufeng sent Gliscor, Charizard, and Pelipper to attack Ye Qing in the sky, and Ye Qing called for Dragon Rush.

Ch. 439Facing an Elite Four

Ye Qing fought Wei Wufeng and rallied the oppressed crowd to help him hold off the Nightmare Gang. Wei Wufeng Mega Evolved his Swampert, leaving the battle poised to escalate.

  • Garchomp attacked Wei Wufeng's Pokémon, and Ye Qing announced that the Pokémon League had sent him to investigate Wei Wufeng's crimes.
  • Ye Qing used Gengar's Perish Song to frighten the Nightmare Gang members and urged the crowd to resist Wei Wufeng.
  • A middle-aged man whose daughter had been abducted joined the fight, and several others followed by attacking the gang.
  • Wei Wufeng scanned Garchomp and was shocked by its energy reading, while Ye Qing revealed that Gardevoir had changed Pelipper's Ability and forced a Sandstorm.
  • Wei Wufeng summoned his level 67 Swampert and Mega Evolved it as the crowd debated whether Ye Qing's Infernape could turn the tide.

Ch. 440Desert Tyrant

Ye Qing and Wei Wufeng’s aerial battle left Garchomp and Infernape badly injured, while Infernape used Blaze to smash Mega Swampert into the courtyard. Wei Wufeng then brought out Tyranitar, leaving Ye Qing facing another Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon alongside the wounded Swampert.

  • Wei Wufeng sent Mega Swampert to attack Garchomp with Ice Punch, and Ye Qing ordered Infernape to counter with Fire Punch.
  • Infernape deliberately took Mega Swampert’s blow, triggering Blaze, while Garchomp knocked Pidgeot away and disrupted Swampert’s footing.
  • Infernape used his Blaze-fueled power to smash Mega Swampert into the villa courtyard, and Garchomp caught the falling Infernape.
  • Ye Qing teleported down to pursue Wei Wufeng, who released Tyranitar and threatened him.
  • Mega Swampert painfully climbed out of the crater and stood beside Tyranitar.

Ch. 441Both sides badly wounded (Thanks to Nintendo Official for the Master certification!)

Ye Qing and his Pokémon fought Wei Wufeng’s Mega Swampert and Tyranitar despite their injuries. Mega Swampert fell after Garchomp, Infernape, and Gengar exhausted themselves attacking him, while the fight against Tyranitar continued with both sides badly wounded.

  • Ye Qing released his eight Pokémon and ordered them to focus their attacks on Tyranitar while Garchomp and Infernape targeted Mega Swampert.
  • Garchomp and Infernape battered Mega Swampert, while Gengar drained his stamina with Mega Drain.
  • Infernape and Garchomp attacked Mega Swampert together, and Gengar’s final Mega Drain left him defeated after he used Endure to strike back.
  • Tyranitar battered Lairon and Gabite, but Gabite fired Draco Meteor into his chest before collapsing.
  • Absol seized the opening and slashed Tyranitar’s exposed chest as Ye Qing and Wei Wufeng’s remaining Pokémon faced off.

Ch. 442Evolve, Lairon

Ye Qing’s remaining Pokémon fought to protect Lairon while the uprising watched, and Lairon began evolving under Tyranitar’s attack. The chapter ended as Tyranitar’s Aqua Tail swept down, with the narration declaring it had missed.

  • Tyranitar endured Absol’s Megahorn and struck back with Rock Slide, while Milotic’s Hydro Pump knocked him down and rain replaced the sandstorm.
  • Milotic and Gengar attacked Tyranitar as he drove them back with Rock Slide and Hyper Beam; Ye Qing recalled Milotic, leaving Gengar and the injured Lairon on the field.
  • As the city’s residents watched the battle determine the uprising’s fate, Ye Qing ordered Lairon to evolve and Gengar to use Disable against Tyranitar.
  • Tyranitar broke free of Disable, changed to Aqua Tail, and charged through Gengar’s Sludge Bombs toward Lairon.
  • Lairon’s evolution light brightened and his body grew as Tyranitar swung Aqua Tail; the attack missed, and Ye Qing shouted to Gengar.

Ch. 443Slaying an Elite Four

Ye Qing defeated Wei Wufeng after Aggron evolved and overwhelmed Tyranitar, then used the Spoon Mark to turn Hypno’s attack against him. With Wei Wufeng dead and the Nightmare Gang scattered, Ye Qing left the scene and returned to his hotel.

  • Aggron completed his evolution in midair and used Iron Tail to defeat Tyranitar, then finished him with a series of Steel-type attacks.
  • Wei Wufeng tried to escape, but Ye Qing ordered Aggron to trap Hypno and Gardevoir to attack him.
  • Hypno’s Confusion shock wave struck Ye Qing’s Spoon Mark and backfired, leaving Hypno frozen while Gardevoir beheaded Wei Wufeng.
  • The crowd attacked the remaining Nightmare Gang members, and the Public Security Bureau took control of the scene.
  • Ye Qing recalled Aggron and Gengar, disappeared into the night, and returned to his hotel without being identified.

Ch. 444Reactions from all sides

After Ye Qing killed Wei Wufeng and destroyed Team R’s base in Desert City, the organization’s leader decided to meet him while Cynthia arranged protection for his family and suppressed news of the battle. Ye Qing left Desert City with seven Badges, persuading a reluctant Garchomp to fly him home by promising it a comfortable retirement and a mate.

  • Ye Qing reflected on killing Elite Four member Wei Wufeng and eventually fell asleep after comforting Gardevoir.
  • The slick-haired leader of Team R learned that Wei Wufeng was dead and its Desert City base had been destroyed, then ordered arrangements to meet Ye Qing.
  • Cynthia confirmed that Ye Qing had killed Wei Wufeng without Mewtwo’s help and ordered more protection for his family and less public discussion of the battle.
  • Ye Qing woke to find that his Pokémon had gained levels and Lairon had evolved, then prepared to leave Desert City without visiting the Pokémon Center.
  • Ye Qing decided to return home and search for a Huge Power Slaking, but Garchomp refused to carry him until Ye Qing promised it a retirement place and a mate.

Ch. 445Boss Giovanni

Ye Qing collided with a Pidgeot in the desert and met its Trainer, a man who strongly resembled Giovanni. Suspecting the man might be Giovanni, Ye Qing cautiously exchanged names and tested him with remarks about Pokémon types.

  • Ye Qing and Garchomp collided with a Pidgeot in midair, and both Pokémon crashed toward the desert floor.
  • Ye Qing approached the Pidgeot’s Trainer, recognized his resemblance to Giovanni, and pretended he had mistaken him for a distant uncle.
  • The Trainer claimed he had chest pain and a twisted ankle, so Ye Qing fetched water from Pidgeot’s pack.
  • The man asked Ye Qing’s name, and Ye Qing answered while watching for a reaction.
  • Ye Qing said he preferred Bug-type Pokémon, especially Beedrill, to probe the man further.

Ch. 446Ye the smooth talker

Ye Qing won Giovanni’s favor by praising Beedrill and spinning a theory about Caterpie and Rayquaza, while Giovanni considered recruiting him but chose to build a relationship first. After they parted, Giovanni ordered Team R to head for international waters and asked Su Qi whether she had found the Red Orb.

  • Ye Qing praised Beedrill’s potential, and Giovanni was pleased by his understanding of the Pokémon.
  • Ye Qing claimed Caterpie resembled Rayquaza and shared his theories with Giovanni, further winning his approval.
  • Giovanni decided not to recruit Ye Qing yet and gave him a business card before leaving on Pidgeot.
  • Ye Qing left for home on Garchomp after realizing how nervous his conversation with Giovanni had made him.
  • Giovanni told Team R members to call him Boss Giovanni and ordered the transport plane to head for international waters.
  • Giovanni summoned Su Qi and asked whether she had found the Red Orb.

Ch. 447A thousand-year-old tomb? (Thanks to: Before the Sea of Clouds for 2× god-tier endorsements!!)

Giovanni ordered Su Qi to find the Red Orb so Team R could awaken Groudon, while Ye Qing returned safely to Shanhai City and discussed a reward with Cynthia. At the Pokémon Center, Wang Yao rushed to meet Ye Qing but became flustered when Gardevoir appeared, leaving his urgent request unrevealed.

  • Su Qi reported that the search for the Red Orb was progressing and said the youth training class had struggled to recruit talent, though Li Hu showed promise.
  • Giovanni told Su Qi to find the Red Orb quickly because Team R had lost Mewtwo and needed to awaken Groudon.
  • Cynthia told Ye Qing that Wei Wufeng’s Pokémon and Mega Stones had been confiscated and offered him a reward; Ye Qing asked for permission to carry one more Poké Ball.
  • Ye Qing returned to Shanhai City, had his Pokémon examined, and bought an Incubator kit after informing his family and friends that he was safe.
  • Wang Yao hurried to the Pokémon Center to meet Ye Qing, but he would not explain what he wanted before Gardevoir appeared.

Ch. 448The unwanted Garchomp

Ye Qing returned to his family’s manor with his Pokémon and introduced Absol, while his mother was stunned to see Garchomp and learned she could catch him. Milotic asked to visit her former kin in the Safari Zone, and Ye Qing’s father and sister remained away at a school competition.

  • Wang Yao asked Ye Qing to help with a research project on Unown in exchange for seventy percent of the funding, and Ye Qing agreed to help if he had time.
  • Ye Qing arrived home and reunited with his Pokémon, where Auntie Aggron saw that her son Aggron had evolved and Garchomp ignored Gabite while approaching Espeon.
  • Ye Qing introduced Absol to the Pokémon, and Ye Mom came outside and recognized Garchomp and Absol.
  • Ye Qing offered his mother the chance to catch Garchomp so the family could strengthen its defenses, and she eagerly accepted.
  • Ye Qing learned that his father had taken Hanhan to a school competition, while Milotic asked to visit her former kin in the Safari Zone.

Ch. 449The guard shark

Ye Qing decided to give Garchomp to Ye Dad so his family would be safer while he traveled. After spending the night at home, he helped his father catch Garchomp and planned to take Ye Menghan to the Safari Zone.

  • Ye Qing told Ye Mom that the Azurill in his Incubator would be useful to him.
  • Ye Qing decided Ye Dad should catch Garchomp, and Ye Dad agreed after hearing that it would let his son travel without worrying about home.
  • Ye Qing promised to take Ye Menghan to the Safari Zone after resting at home the next day.
  • The family found neighbors watching Garchomp in the courtyard, where he tried to impress Espeon and was ignored.
  • Ye Qing released his ownership of Garchomp, then used the Mark on his wrist to make Garchomp cooperate with Ye Dad's Poké Ball.

Ch. 450Searching for Vigoroth

Ye Qing brought Ye Menghan to the Safari Zone so she could practice with her Pokémon, while he searched for the mischievous Vigoroth he had encountered before. They reached the spot where they had once been chased by Beedrill, and Infernape caught Vigoroth hiding in a tree.

  • Ye Qing took Ye Menghan and their Pokémon to the Safari Zone, where she excitedly experienced Teleport for the first time.
  • Ye Qing inspected Mudkip and encouraged Ye Menghan to lead the way and gain battle experience.
  • The group followed Ye Qing’s old route into the Wild Area, and Mudkip quickly knocked out a Rattata with Water Gun.
  • Ye Qing searched for Vigoroth near the place where they had met it before, as Ye Menghan pointed out a Kakuna.
  • Infernape spotted Vigoroth hiding in a tree and slapped him before he could throw the stone in his hand.
