Ch. 105The Shikon Jewel (VII)

Han awakened from the Shikon Jewel and reunited with Kikyo before leaving with Sesshomaru. After learning that Naraku had caused Kikyo and Inuyasha’s suffering, Han treated Sango and Miroku and departed, while Kikyo stayed behind and Kirara mourned Midoriko.

  • Inuyasha and the others discussed Han’s vanished Spirit Bow, her true nature, and Miroku’s grandfather’s possible feelings for her.
  • Sesshomaru assured Kikyo that Han would wake, and Han opened her eyes to find Kikyo holding her hand.
  • Han embraced Kikyo, apologized to Sesshomaru for neglecting him, and then purified the miasma affecting Sango and Miroku.
  • Miroku told Han that Naraku had framed Kikyo and Inuyasha and caused his Wind Tunnel curse, leaving Han angry and sorrowful.
  • Kikyo refused to leave with Han, and Han said goodbye to Kirara, who grieved for Midoriko.
  • Han returned to Sesshomaru’s side, and they left the place where the Shikon Jewel had originated.

Ch. 106Affections across time (I)

Kikyo parted from Inuyasha and Kagome, determined to destroy the Shikon Jewel and Naraku, while Inuyasha’s group continued their journey and investigated a village afflicted by a terrible evil aura. Inside the mountain cave, Inuyasha charged into a battle among regenerating monsters, and Kikyo arrived as Kagome followed her inside.

  • Kikyo declined Kagome’s invitation to travel with the group, then left on her Soul Collectors without looking back.
  • Inuyasha and Kagome resumed their journey with Miroku, Sango, and Shippo and learned that a village was suffering from monster remains and a powerful evil aura.
  • The group traced the aura to a barren mountain and found a cave where the remains of defeated monsters regenerated and fought one another.
  • Inuyasha leaped into the cave’s basin to fight a victorious monster, while Miroku suspected that the battle could not be escaped by simply winning.
  • Kikyo arrived at the cave and entered to find Inuyasha, and Kagome followed her with her bow and arrows.

Ch. 107A Love Beyond Time (II)

Kikyo was taken to Hitomi Castle, where she discovered its lord was Naraku, then followed the evil aura to a cave where Inuyasha and Kagome faced a monster. After Kikyo broke the mountain’s seal and Naraku absorbed the monster to restore his body, he carried the unconscious Kikyo away, unaware she had awakened.

  • Kikyo treated wounded soldiers and was brought to Hitomi Castle, where she recognized an ominous aura in Lord Kagewaki, who was actually Naraku.
  • Naraku had Kikyo confined, but she escaped with the help of her Soul Collectors and followed the evil aura to a mountain cave.
  • Kikyo entered the cave and saw Inuyasha fighting a monster created by Naraku’s Witchcraft, while Kagome and Miroku tried to help him.
  • Kikyo’s dead souls flowed into the monster, and Kagome reached her as Inuyasha fought to protect them both.
  • Kikyo shot a Demon-Breaking Arrow that struck Tessaiga and broke the mountain’s seal, releasing the monsters and drawing everyone outside.
  • Naraku absorbed the victorious monster and carried the unconscious Kikyo away; she secretly awoke and decided to watch what he intended to do.

Ch. 108Affections across time (III)

Kikyo resisted Naraku’s attempt to control her, took Kagome’s Shikon Jewel shards, and left after confronting Kagome and Inuyasha about their feelings. She returned to face Naraku on her own terms, intending to let him gather the complete jewel so she could destroy him with it.

  • Naraku placed a Shikon Jewel shard in a dead soul and sent it into Kikyo, while Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kagome fell into his Phantom Slaying Sorcery trap.
  • Kikyo destroyed Naraku’s puppet double, broke his barrier, and revealed that the shard could not control her; she took Kagome’s jewel shards and challenged Kagome over her feelings for Inuyasha.
  • Kikyo left the trap, while Inuyasha broke free of his illusion, rescued Miroku, and carried Kagome out after she was caught in the spell.
  • Inuyasha caught up with Kikyo, but she ended their conversation and departed with the shards; Kagome admitted to herself that she loved Inuyasha and did not want him with Kikyo.
  • Kikyo returned to Hitomi Castle, returned the shards to Naraku, and revealed that Onigumo’s presence kept him from becoming fully demonic.
  • Kikyo left for the temple, planning to let Naraku collect the complete Shikon Jewel so she could destroy him along with it.

Ch. 109A Longing Beyond Time (IV)

Sesshomaru and Han were targeted by demons seeking the Fang Swords, while Menomaru revived his followers and sent moths after Tessaiga. After Jaken destroyed a swarm of demonic moths, Sesshomaru recognized signs that the Flying Moth Demon had returned and led the group toward the gathering demonic aura.

  • Ruri and Gara attacked Sesshomaru to take Tenseiga, but he struck them down with his Light Whip.
  • Menomaru revived Ruri and Gara and ordered them to find Tessaiga, the fang that could break his ancestors’ seal.
  • Days later, Jaken used the Human-Head Staff to burn away a vast swarm of demonic moths, though one moth landed on his face before Yunai kicked it off.
  • Sesshomaru suspected the Flying Moth Demon had revived, and Jaken recalled the battle between the demon and Toga two hundred years earlier.
  • Sesshomaru led Han, Jaken, and Yunai toward the place where the demonic aura was gathering.

Ch. 110Affections Across Time (V)

Menomaru broke the seal by provoking Inuyasha into using the Wind Scar, then drained power and human souls while controlling Kagome to attack him. After Kagome purified the control magatama and the Bone-Eater's Well became blocked, Kikyo helped treat Inuyasha, who woke and reassured Kagome, though his thoughts lingered on Kikyo.

  • Menomaru abducted Kagome and lured Inuyasha to the Sealing Grounds, where he provoked him into using the Wind Scar and broke the seal on the Moth Demon Tribe's power source.
  • Menomaru absorbed demonic energy and human souls as moths killed people in nearby villages, while Kaede protected Kaede's Village with a barrier.
  • Menomaru controlled Kagome into shooting Inuyasha beneath the Tree of Ages, but Kagome's spiritual power freed her and purified the nearby moths.
  • Kikyo told Kagome that Menomaru's Tree of Ages was draining energy across eras and that shoots were sealing the Bone-Eater's Well, leaving Kagome unable to return to her own time.
  • Kikyo treated Inuyasha's poisoned wound, and he woke, took Kagome's hand, and told her that he needed her, while still watching Kikyo leave.

Ch. 111Longing across time and space (VI)

Kikyo was weakened as Menomaru absorbed the Moth Demon Tribe’s power and revived as the Flying Moth Demon, while Sesshomaru and Han went to confront him. Naraku abducted Kikyo and revealed that he had helped awaken Menomaru, with Yan Luo also involved in his scheme.

  • Kikyo’s dead souls were pulled away by Menomaru’s power, leaving her too weak to stand as Han came to help her.
  • Menomaru emerged as the Flying Moth Demon, and Sesshomaru carried Han toward him while Jaken and Yunai stayed with Kikyo.
  • Naraku appeared and took the weakened Kikyo, sparing Jaken and Yunai after Kikyo pleaded for them.
  • Naraku told Kikyo that he had helped awaken Menomaru by sending him Soul Fragments, and implied that Yan Luo had also played a part.

Ch. 112Longing beyond time and space (VII)

Sesshomaru, Han, and their allies fought Menomaru as he unleashed the Moth Demon Tribe’s power, then destroyed him by striking the mark on his forehead. After the Tree of Ages began collapsing, Kagome’s group found the Bone-Eater’s Well open, but Kagome still worried about whether she would eventually have to choose between returning home and staying with Inuyasha.

  • Menomaru broke free atop the Tree of Ages, unleashed swarms of demons, and attacked Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.
  • Han and Kagome purified demons with their arrows while Sesshomaru cleared the battlefield with the Azure Dragon Blast; Inuyasha instinctively discovered the Wind Scar, but Menomaru deflected it.
  • Sesshomaru identified the mark on Menomaru’s forehead as his weakness, and Han and Kagome damaged him with their arrows.
  • Sesshomaru split Menomaru’s beam and unleashed the Azure Dragon Blast while Han struck the mark, purifying Menomaru completely.
  • As the Tree of Ages collapsed, Sesshomaru and Han departed, and Sesshomaru explained the Wind Scar to Inuyasha.
  • Inuyasha’s group checked the Bone-Eater’s Well and found it still open, while Kagome wondered what she would choose if she had to decide between the two eras.

Ch. 113The eastern Wolf Demon Tribe (I)

  • Han learned from Yunai that Kikyo had been taken by a man in a white baboon pelt, and Sesshomaru agreed to accompany Han to find Naraku.
  • Han and Sesshomaru entered Naraku’s castle and found Wolf Demon Tribe members dead, Inuyasha injured, and Koga confronting them.
  • Kagura attacked Sesshomaru with her wind powers, but he wounded her with Tenseiga, forcing her to escape on her Feather Boat.
  • Koga tried to stop Kagura, but she struck him down and revealed that the Four Souls Shard in his arm was fake and poisoned.
  • Kagura attacked Kagome, but Han protected her with spiritual power and demanded Naraku’s location.
  • Kagura revealed that Naraku held her heart and controlled her, then fled as the Saimyosho approached; Han vowed inwardly to confront Naraku.

Ch. 114The Wolf Demon Tribe of the East (Part Two)

Kagome and Han saved Koga from the fake shard’s miasma, and Han confronted him about his forgotten engagement to Ayame. Koga remembered his promise but fled, leaving Kagome determined to make him face the matter while Han worried about Ayame.

  • Han shared her spiritual power with Kagome, who purified the fake shard and healed Koga’s poisoned arm.
  • Koga woke and embraced Kagome, prompting Inuyasha to attack and Han to reveal that Koga was engaged to Ayame.
  • Han confronted Koga about his promise to marry Ayame, and Kagome rebuked him for using forgetfulness as an excuse.
  • Han reminded Koga of “Rainbow Under the Moon,” and Koga remembered proposing to Ayame when he was young.
  • Koga fled before resolving the matter, and Kagome comforted Han while promising to make things clear to him.

Ch. 115The Wolf Demon Tribe of the East (III)

Han told Inuyasha and Kagome that Naraku had abducted Kikyo, then revealed that Kikyo’s binding word had been “beloved.” At Hitomi Castle, Naraku forced Kagura to test Inuyasha’s sword again with Kanna, while Yan Luo left with Rin and planned to draw Sesshomaru closer.

  • Han declined Kagome’s offer to join them, and she told Inuyasha that Kikyo’s binding word had been “beloved.”

  • Naraku ordered Kagura and Kanna to investigate Inuyasha’s sword, and Kagura left angrily with Kanna.
  • Yan Luo warned Naraku not to scheme against her, then took Rin from Hitomi Castle while leaving Kohaku behind.

Ch. 116The Wolf Demon Tribe of the East (IV)

Naraku learned about Rin and sent the Saimyosho to follow Kanna, then confronted Inuyasha and his companions while Inuyasha was gravely wounded. Inuyasha overcame Kanna’s mirror with a powerful Wind Scar, forcing Naraku to retreat, but collapsed from his injuries afterward.

  • Naraku questioned Kohaku about Rin, ordered him to spend more time with her, and sent the Saimyosho to follow Kanna unseen.
  • Naraku visited Kikyo, then cut away the skin on his back bearing Onigumo’s spider-shaped mark, knowing it would return.
  • After learning that Kanna’s mirror could not reflect the Wind Scar, Naraku confronted Inuyasha and his companions and revealed that Kikyo had given him the Four Souls Shard.
  • Naraku taunted Miroku and Inuyasha, while Kagura attacked the wounded Inuyasha and Kagome arrived on Kirara to protect him.
  • Inuyasha unleashed a Wind Scar powered by his soul, which Kanna’s mirror absorbed but could not reflect, and demanded that Naraku return Kagome’s soul.
  • Naraku withdrew with Kagura and Kanna, and Inuyasha collapsed after exhausting his strength.

Ch. 117Demon blood (I)

Sesshomaru had Kaijinbo forge a sword from demon fangs while Inuyasha and his companions fought Kaijinbo and the newly made Tōkijin. After Kagura revealed that Sesshomaru’s sword was nearby, Sesshomaru comforted Han and set out with her to find it and Naraku.

  • Sesshomaru found the remains of a demon killed by Inuyasha and took its fangs to Kaijinbo to forge a sword.
  • Kaijinbo revived the demon head with Tenseiga and agreed to forge a sword from its fangs, while Sesshomaru told Han that he no longer wanted Tessaiga.
  • Sesshomaru returned three days later and used Tenseiga to revive Jaken, who reported that Kaijinbo had been controlled by the finished sword.
  • On the new moon, Kaijinbo attacked Inuyasha and his companions with Tōkijin, but Totosai brought the repaired Tessaiga and Inuyasha defeated him after regaining his half-demon powers.
  • Kagura told Sesshomaru that his sword was nearby, then fled; Sesshomaru comforted Han as she cried and left with her to pursue their search.

  • Kagura considered whether Sesshomaru could kill Naraku, but Shun Ye appeared, crushed the Saimyosho, and confronted her.
  • Shun Ye defeated Kagura's wind attacks, boarded her Feather Boat, and demanded to know what she wanted.
  • Kagura said she wanted freedom and began telling Shun Ye about the demon who controlled her, Naraku.

Ch. 119Yokai Blood (III)

Sesshomaru and Han learned from Hakuōju that Inuyasha’s yokai blood overwhelmed his mind when his life was threatened, and that Tessaiga protected him from losing himself. After Sesshomaru fought the transformed Inuyasha, he left Kagome with instructions to use Tessaiga to stop the transformation.

  • Hakuōju explained that Inuyasha’s yokai blood took control when he was cornered and could eventually turn him into a mindless monster, while Tessaiga had been left to protect him.
  • Hakuōju warned Han that no clan was forever free of internal strife but did not explain what he meant.
  • Sesshomaru sensed Inuyasha’s bloodlust and found him attacking people as a mindless monster, then fought him without delivering a killing blow.
  • Han’s smile entranced Kagome, Sango, Shippo, and Miroku, who grabbed her hand and asked her to bear his child before Sango knocked him out.
  • Sesshomaru threatened Miroku, then calmed when Han pleaded with him and left with her after telling Kagome to use Tessaiga to halt Inuyasha’s transformation.
  • Sesshomaru said he would kill Inuyasha someday, but not while Inuyasha did not know who he was; Kagome went to help Inuyasha with Tessaiga.

Ch. 120Entangled cause and effect (I)

Sesshomaru, Han, Jaken, and Yunai climbed the Crane Immortal’s perilous jade steps, but a mysterious girl destroyed the steps beneath three of them and sent them falling into darkness. Suspended over an abyss, Han resolved to stay with Sesshomaru no matter what happened, while he struggled to hold them up with his sword.

  • Sesshomaru explained that the Crane Immortal was an ancient being near godhood and led Han, Jaken, and Yunai toward her mountain residence.
  • Sesshomaru let Jaken and Yunai follow him up the jade steps after they insisted they would go with him despite the danger.
  • Violent winds struck the group, and Sesshomaru and Han combined their powers to shield everyone until a little girl appeared and accused them of breaking the rules.
  • The little girl shattered the steps beneath Han, Jaken, and Yunai, and Sesshomaru jumped after them, caught them, and stopped their fall by driving Tōkijin into the rock wall.
  • Trapped in darkness with Sesshomaru weakening as he held them, Han kissed him and resolved not to let go, saying they had promised to stay together even if they died.

Ch. 121Entangled cause and effect (II)

  • The Little Girl told Sesshomaru and Han that they had passed the tests and sent them onward, while Jaken and Yunai had to wait behind.
  • Sesshomaru and Han crossed a shifting road, where Sesshomaru used Tenseiga to free the tormented souls of an ancient battlefield.
  • Sesshomaru and Han met Qiongji in her pavilion and answered her questions about Tenseiga and the dead they had encountered.
  • Qiongji explained that Sesshomaru's father had used Tenseiga to revive the dead, while Sesshomaru had freed the battlefield souls instead.
  • Qiongji revealed that Tenseiga's power came from the Meido Stone and that each resurrection killed Underworld Messengers; Han realized the sword's miracles came at another life’s expense.

Ch. 122Entangled karma (III)

Sesshomaru and Han learned that Han’s existence had been displaced through time and that correcting it could separate them, so they chose to seek a power capable of balancing the force that altered her fate. After reuniting with Jaken and Yunai, they left with a lead to head southwest, while Yan Luo opened the gates of Hell and entered.

  • Qiongji told Sesshomaru that humans would eventually rule the world and that monsters would ultimately perish, though some could survive elsewhere.
  • Qiongji revealed that Han’s existence was an anomaly caused by a power that altered time, and warned that correcting the disorder could cast Han out of the present.
  • Sesshomaru and Han chose to seek an equal power rather than risk losing each other by destroying the force that changed Han’s fate; Qiongji directed them southwest.
  • Han asked about Kikyo, and Qiongji said they would meet again soon before Sesshomaru and Han departed White Crane Tower.
  • Sesshomaru and Han reunited with Jaken and Yunai at the mountain’s foot, where Han recognized Dove as an incarnation of the Crane Immortal.
  • Yan Luo opened the gates of Hell at great cost and stepped through.

Ch. 124The curse from fifty years ago (II)

Han and Sesshomaru reached Tsubaki’s barrier while Kagome’s curse forced her to attack Inuyasha, and Han confronted her former friend. Han destroyed Naraku’s puppet incarnation and fought Tsubaki, while the Shikon Jewel began to clear and Kagome’s curse weakened; Han’s arrow destroyed Tsubaki’s White Beast as the battle continued.

  • Tsubaki used Kagome’s blood to corrupt the Shikon Jewel, causing its shards to enter Kagome and the curse to make her attack Inuyasha.
  • Miroku and Sango could not break the barrier around Tsubaki’s altar, but Sesshomaru and Han arrived after sensing the evil aura.
  • Han recognized the barrier’s Kiyomori Temple technique, dismantled its supporting nodes, and entered the altar house with the others.
  • Han confronted Tsubaki, who refused to stop the curse because she believed Han had chosen Kikyo; Han killed Naraku’s puppet incarnation when he interrupted them.
  • Tsubaki summoned White Beast and attacked Han, while Sesshomaru stopped Miroku and Sango from intervening; the Shikon Jewel began returning to its purple color as Kagome’s curse weakened.
