Inuyasha stubbornly remained beside Tōkijin, determined to meet the person who had commissioned Kaijinbo to forge it. Though Totosai believed any demon capable of truly wielding such an evil blade would be extremely difficult to deal with, and their companions agreed they should leave at once, Inuyasha refused to budge.
The sky suddenly darkened, an unnatural change brought on by powerful demon power.
After a blinding flash, Sesshomaru and his companions appeared before Inuyasha.
"Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha exclaimed in shock.
"He's here!" Totosai cried, ducking behind Inuyasha.
"..." Kagome stared speechlessly at the old man, who was clearly powerful yet was hiding behind Inuyasha and pretending to be helpless.
"Why are you here?" Inuyasha demanded irritably.
"That is precisely what I wanted to ask you," Sesshomaru said coldly. "I merely came after this sword. It seems the demon you killed still seeks revenge against you, even after becoming a blade."
"What?" Inuyasha cried.
"I was the one who had Kaijinbo forge this sword," Sesshomaru said.
"Sesshomaru, you must not touch Tōkijin!" Totosai warned solemnly. "Even you will be possessed like Kaijinbo if you come into contact with its evil aura."
"Hmph." Sesshomaru gave a disdainful snort, calmly walked up to Tōkijin, and drew the evil blade without hesitation. Inuyasha and Totosai, who could not even touch it without being repelled by its evil aura, stared in disbelief as he pulled it free with ease. "Who do you think I am?"
The eerie red glow surrounding the blade gradually faded. Totosai peered out from behind Inuyasha and said gravely, "Tōkijin's evil aura lost to Sesshomaru's demonic aura! What an infuriating fellow!"
"Hmph. It seems this sword has chosen its master." Sesshomaru studied the sharp blade in his hand and said coldly, "Draw your sword, Inuyasha. There is something I wish to confirm."
