"Th-this is the Old Master and... and the Spring and Autumn Brush?!"
Most who cultivated had heard something of the great Spring and Autumn calamity of the Human Race.
After the Three Emperors first slew the Demon Mother, human cultivators no longer faced external threats, and a brief Spring and Autumn golden age followed.
Sadly, things reverse upon reaching their extremes, and prosperity must give way to decline.
At the very height of that Spring and Autumn golden age, turmoil erupted within the human Cultivation World, and war broke out throughout the Five Heavens.
The Confucian Sect and the School of Military Strategy of later ages had emerged during those troubled times.
Only with the appearance of the Confucian Sect's first sage, the Sage Ancestor Master, did that Spring and Autumn age of turmoil, which had lasted nearly a thousand years, come to an end.
Dongfang Yuejian gazed at the Old Master in the phantom image before her, her eyes full of reverence as she said:
"It may seem that the Old Master ended that Spring and Autumn age of turmoil with nothing more than a brush and a few words."
"But in truth, this Spring and Autumn Brush, and the Vast Righteous Qi within it, were the fruit of thousands of years of Confucian disciples traveling the world."
"And with that single stroke, the Old Master took the boundless karma of those wars upon himself. Not only did he lose all hope of ascension, but he also had to keep repaying that karma through lifetime after lifetime of reincarnation."
Hearing this, everyone fell silent.
"Amitabha..."
Abbot Jiaye spoke then:
"The Old Master has rendered a great meritorious service to this world. Once this karma is settled, he will naturally attain perfection
