Xu Taiping and Lü Daoxuan fought through the Demon Mother's edict while Kang Cangzi and the others attacked her. As Xu Taiping discovered the Demon Mother was devouring the Shangqing Edict, Kang Cangzi struck her with a seemingly ordinary palm, splitting her true body into six.
Xu Taiping and the human cultivators attacked the Demon Mother's six weakened clones, but learned that splitting her body had sped up her consumption of the Shangqing Edict. As the Demon Mother created an army of living beings to stall them, Xu Taiping proposed using the Thunder Sound Five-Direction Earth-Splitting Formation to destroy all six clones at once.
Xu Taiping assembled the Human Race armies and powerful banner-bearing generals into a Great Thunder Sound Formation to surround the Demon Mother’s six clones. As the clones unleashed their Nine Abysses Origin Edicts, Xu Taiping rallied the soldiers and ordered all 108 banner bearers to use their full power; the thunder surges began to collide, leaving their convergence dependent on his ability to draw out the army’s full Battle Intent.
Xu Taiping and the armies used the Great Thunder Sound Formation to destroy four of the Demon Mother's six clones, but one escaped toward the Subdue Demons Formation and attacked its seal. With Yang Hong and Jiang Fu's forces burning under her assault, Xu Taiping ordered Yang Hong to hold the clone back, even at the cost of his life.
Yang Hong and the Crimson Blade Armor fought a Demon Mother Clone while Jiang Fu withdrew the Ziyang Army to protect the sealing formation. After the Demon Mother shattered Yang Hong’s formation and blade technique, Yang Hong began burning his Dao Essence and called upon the Crimson Blade Armor.
Yang Hong sacrificed himself to gain the strength to fight the Demon Mother Clone while Xu Taiping and the others tried to wear her down. As Yang Hong’s power faded, he revealed his own burial blade method and pierced the clone, claiming he had slain her.
Yang Hong died after his final slash failed to destroy the Demon Mother, whose clones revived and overwhelmed the Subdue Demons Formation. Xu Taiping rallied the armies behind him and struck back, vowing to kill the Demon Mother and her clones again.
The Demon Mother sealed the battlefield off from the world’s edicts but summoned millions of Different People who could form Human Race battle formations and resist their edict power. The Human Race forces faced a ten-million-strong army led by the Demon Mother’s two remaining clones, who challenged Xu Taiping’s five-million-strong army to overcome them.
Xu Taiping and the Human Race Army confronted the Demon Mother's otherfolk army, whose battle intent repelled even powerful attacks from Kang Cangzi and Blade Ghost. As the Demon Mother offered wavering cultivators a place in the Nine Abysses, Xu Taiping warned that the Human Race could suffer the same fate as the Dragon Clan and said he would not force anyone to remain.
Xu Taiping and his allies refused the Demon Mother’s offer and prepared five million human soldiers to face the ten-million-strong Different People Army. With Lin Buyu’s help, Xu Taiping led the charge and disrupted the enemy formation, then called for the humans to break through it.
Xu Taiping led the five-million-strong Human Race Army against the ten-million-strong Different People Army, using his Lotus Eye to coordinate their attacks and gain the upper hand. After deducing that a breakthrough would leave them surrounded, he stopped the charge and discovered the Demon Mother could replenish her army to ten million, leaving the human forces facing an apparently inexhaustible enemy.
Xu Taiping steadied the Human Race Army after the Demon Mother claimed the Different People could endlessly return from death, then opened the Fifth Great Dao Golden Lotus to seek a solution. Its divination showed him leading the army in a final stand that would buy Shangqing time and broadcast vital intelligence, leaving Xu Taiping to accept that he and the army might die.
Xu Taiping revealed that the Different People could be resurrected, then rallied the five-million-strong Human Race Army by explaining that their sacrifices would provide Shangqing with time and intelligence. The army charged the endless Different People, and the projected battlefield showed the start of a hopeless battle.
Ninth Madam realized that the Demon Mother had merged with the Shangqing Edict and that the Human Race Army was buying time against endlessly reborn enemies, so she called for reinforcements and a search for their weakness. As the battle was projected across the Five Heavens, even a mortal cowherd wanted to fight, while his father feared the coming calamity.
Cui Tiegu and Liu Zijin debated whether ordinary people would dare help fight the Nine Abysses Demon Mother, while Buddhism opened paths to the Heaven-Demon Battlefield and called on mortals to join the Human Race soldiers. The chapter ended with commoners across the realms volunteering to fight, challenging Cui Tiegu’s belief that they could do nothing.
As the Human Race Army struggled against the Nine Abysses Different People Army, Ninth Madam ordered Siyou and Li Shu to focus on finding a way to counter the Demon Mother rather than send more reinforcements. In Mysterious Wasteland Heaven, Gongshu Chi prepared to aid Xu Taiping, and Emperor Yang arrived with the Mysterious Wasteland Tower to discuss the forces they could muster.
Gongshu Chi agreed to let ordinary people join Thousand Mechanisms City's army after they showed their courage and desire to repay Xu Taiping. Ten days later, Ninth Madam learned that commoners from across the Five Heavens were heading to the Heaven-Demon Battlefield.
Ninth Madam watched intelligence from the Lower Realm and learned that ordinary people were heading to the Heaven-Demon Battlefield despite the danger. A scene from Old Dragon City showed volunteers rushing toward the battlefield, and a young horseman asked the flatbread shopkeeper if he was bound there too.
A flatbread seller brought food to three martial artists heading for the Heaven-Demon Battlefield, then was inspired by Xu Taiping’s stand to join the fight himself. After watching the images, Ninth Madam realized the treasure that could counter the Nine Abysses had been there from the beginning.
Xu Taiping led the battered Human Race Army against the overwhelming Different People Army of the Nine Abysses, ordering a shift from defending against its charges to hunting its battle generals. After killing several enemy generals, the Human Race forces retreated, leaving the battle unresolved.
Xu Taiping’s Human Race Army faced another assault from the Different People Army as the Abyssal Pavilion and the Heaven-Hunting Great Sage intervened. The Demon Mother then raised the enemy’s battle intent to its ultimate realm, leaving Xu Taiping unsure whether the Human Race could survive.
Xu Taiping and the Human Race Army repeatedly held off the ten-million-strong Nine Abysses Different People Army, using Heroic Spirits and dangerous charges to kill enemy generals. As their own generals and Heroic Spirits fell, Xu Taiping promised the dead that the survivors would soon join them.
Xu Taiping led the dwindling Human Race Army in a final charge against the vastly larger Nine Abysses Different People Army. After learning the Flame Emperor Heaven-Shaking Fist and piercing the enemy’s battle-intent phantom, he was struck and swallowed by their forces, but human reinforcements began gathering around him as sparks of light.
Xu Taiping was trapped beneath the Nine Abysses Different People Army’s battle intent and believed he was about to die. Tens of millions of ordinary mortals rallied to save him, tore open the enemy formation, and lifted him from the ground.
Xu Taiping and Lin Buyu extended their battle intent over the twenty million ordinary people who had arrived to fight the Demon Mother. The chapter ended with Xu Taiping calling on everyone willing to defend the mortal realm to step forward.
