Arc 88The Climb to Vulture Peak
Xu Taiping followed White Maitreya through the Thousand Buddha Kingdom’s Forbidden Grounds and climbed Vulture Peak, surviving Yin Gods and bargaining with a wolf-headed Yin God. He resisted an Otherworldly Evil God possessing a Buddha statue and awoke having strangled it, leaving White Maitreya to wonder whether he could draw on the power of the Beyond the Domain Buddhist Kingdom.
- Xu Taiping rang Abbot Jiaye’s Vajra Bell eight times before White Maitreya appeared and guided him into the Hundred-Thousand-Mile Mist toward Vulture Peak.
- As Xu Taiping rode White Maitreya through the mist, Yin God Kun attacked, but Xu Taiping used the Heavenly Dao Borrowed Wind Edict to destroy its true body.
- Xu Taiping climbed Vulture Peak, avoided its Yin Gods, and used the Heavenly Dao Power-Borrowing Edict to cut the thread of an Otherworldly Evil God that was luring them with hearts.
- Xu Taiping helped a Yin God awaken by letting it consume the hearts, then made it swear loyalty and follow him up the mountain as the Wolf-Headed Yin God.
- Near the summit, Xu Taiping tested Buddha statues in the third and fifth grottoes, but the fifth statue seized him with pale arms and possessed him.
- The Wolf-Headed Yin God blocked White Maitreya while Xu Taiping fought the possession, and the people who had supported him helped pull him back to consciousness.
- Xu Taiping awoke in the grotto with his hand around the Buddha Statue’s neck, having strangled the Evil God to death, and White Maitreya wondered whether he was destined to draw on the Beyond the Domain Buddhist Kingdom’s power.
