The Holy Emperor had lived in an extremely ancient era, when Soul Beasts still ruled the Douluo Continent and humans were nothing more than their food.
The Holy Emperor had been a human of that era, kept by a powerful Soul Beast as livestock to feed upon. Through a chance encounter, however, he had awakened his Martial Soul and become an Evil Soul Master with innate full Soul Power. He secretly killed Soul Beasts to cultivate, advancing step by step until he killed the powerful Soul Beast that had kept him captive. From then on, he rose to prominence and led a group of humans to rise with him.
In that ancient age, he fought one terrifying Soul Beast overlord after another, securing a foothold for humanity and earning the title of Holy Emperor.
Later, however, he encountered an unprecedentedly powerful enemy. Before their decisive battle, he left this legacy in his homeland. Unfortunately, only after countless years of change did an Evil Soul Master discover the site of his legacy. That Evil Soul Master did not obtain his complete inheritance, but he worshipped the invincible Holy Emperor and founded the Holy Spirit Cult in his name.
