Background

Tang San originally belonged to the Tang Sect in another world. The narrative identifies him as someone who initially had no connection to either the Douluo Continent or the Seven Star Domain, and later refers to his experience across two lifetimes 46 103.

By the tournament finals, he was fighting alongside the Shrek Seven Devils and wielding the Clear Sky Hammer. His subsequent captivity brought him into sustained contact with Qian Fan, turning a tournament opponent into a close companion 6 10 13.

Appearance

Tang San is described as handsome and dashing when he returns to God Star Hall wearing a flowing white robe 26.

Personality

Tang San’s attachment to Xiao Wu drives much of his behavior. Captivity initially makes him furious because it prevents him from finding her; years later, he still believes there is no room in his heart for another girl. Although he cares deeply for Chen Sixue, he regards her as a younger sister rather than a romantic partner 10 55.

He is protective and capable of remaining practical under pressure. He takes Chen Sixue out of a war zone, offers her shelter, and searches for her family. When the group becomes trapped, he calmly proposes looking for alternative clues and passages rather than waiting to die 20 26 51.

His loyalty to Qian Fan becomes explicit in Atlantis, where he promises to stand beside him even against Xu Fangyuan. He later comforts Qian Fan about losing loved ones and emphasizes becoming strong enough to protect them. Despite his rapid progress, he credits his companions for helping him advance 13 46 55.

Tang San swears loyalty to him in Atlantis and later wholeheartedly accepts him after Qian Fan promises to help him return to Xiao Wu. Tournament Defeat and Abduction

At the All-Continent Advanced Elite Soul Master Tournament finals, Tang San responds to Qian Fan’s overwhelming power by calling for the Seven-in-One Fusion Skill. Their empowered Clear Sky Hammer strike throws him across the arena, while Qian Fan’s later dual-Martial-Soul attack forces Tang Hao and Chen Xin to intervene. The Shrek team ends the confrontation unconscious 6.

During the subsequent intervention, Tang San appears beside Xu Fangyuan with lifeless eyes and a damaged-looking Blue Silver Emperor Martial Soul. He later confirms that Xu Fangyuan captured him and recalls awakening in captivity after losing consciousness following the tournament 7 10.

Atlantis Trials

Tang San and Qian Fan enter trial grounds where an enormous sea turtle announces three stages for candidates seeking to become the Sea Emperor’s successors. With no available escape, Tang San reluctantly agrees to undertake the trials despite his anxiety over Xiao Wu 10.

After six months of cultivation, he reaches early Soul Emperor. He then passes the first trial by using a dragon-soul resonance to counter a violent storm. When the temple begins collapsing, he discovers a hidden door through which he and Qian Fan escape 13.

Rescuing Chen Sixue

Following Qian Fan’s departure from the Abyss Domain, Tang San attacks a rebel base and finds eight-year-old Chen Sixue among the ruins. Suspecting a connection to Chen Tianyi’s missing daughter, he takes her away from the fighting and begins investigating her origins 20.

Unable to awaken her Martial Soul himself, he brings her to Qian Fan. The examination reveals a suppressing force and manifestations of the Giant-Toothed Shark and Divine Beast Xuanwu. Tang San later returns from Atlantis with her, still unable to locate the person they sought, and provides her with a home in his quarters at God Star Hall 22 26.

Yuan’er Rescue Journey and the Taotie Ring

Tang San and Chen Sixue accompany Qian Fan toward a distant teleportation array to help rescue Xu Yuan’er. In Taotie Forest, Ouyang Tianxin subdues a seventy-thousand-year Taotie, allowing Tang San to obtain his seventh soul ring 45 46.

The ring’s mutation strengthens his Blue Silver Grass but draws the wrath of the slain beast’s parent. Tang San attempts to fight the god-king-realm Taotie with his new power, yet survives only through Ouyang Tianxin’s protection. The group subsequently endures the Misty Forest ordeal and fights Xu Weiran, with Tang San using Entanglement and Parasitism to support Qian Fan 47 49 51 53.

Return to the Douluo Continent

After traveling with Ouyang Tianxin to temper himself, Tang San returns close to Titled Douluo advancement and joins the expedition back to the Douluo Continent 67 73.

On Sea God Island, he and Chen Sixue confront the Sea God while Qian Fan fights the Asura God. Although their cultivation is lower, their unusually strong Martial Souls allow them to pressure the Sea God. Tang San later volunteers to help Bo Saixi reinforce Sea God’s Light 80 87.

In Spirit City, the wooden comb found by Ouyang Tianxin renews his hope of locating Xiao Wu. Qian Fan assigns the two to search the continent, but their effort has not succeeded by the time news arrives that the Seven Star Domain may have been destroyed 90 103.

Cosmic Voyage

Angered by the possible destruction of a world that holds his memories, Tang San vows to make the invaders repay their blood debt. During the ensuing voyage, he takes responsibility for the Autumn Glow’s defenses and protects it through a hazardous teleportation jump 103 105 107.

He also helps prepare the travelers through simulated battles in weightlessness. After their return, he attempts to defuse the Domain Lord’s anger at Qian Fan by offering wine and intervening verbally 107 108.
