Formation in Chaos

The sword’s origins are revealed through visions after Tang Xuan absorbs the Divine Origin Grass. A sword embryo drifts through a dark, star-filled space before entering a mass of gray lightning. After countless years of bombardment, it emerges as the Godslayer Sword and begins devouring surrounding power, drawing even stars toward itself 53.

A vertical eye attacks it with Purple Sky Divine Thunder. Their battle triggers a chain of stellar explosions that severely damages the sword, leaving a crack across its blade. Its light fades, and it falls into a multicolored orb. Tang Xuan believes the sword originally possessed an intelligent sword spirit that was probably destroyed in the explosion 53.

Tang Xuan identifies the eye as a likely manifestation of the Heavenly Dao Will. He theorizes that it sought to destroy the sword because the chaos-born weapon existed outside its control; this explanation remains his interpretation of the vision 53.

Becoming Tang Xuan’s Martial Soul

The multicolored orb survives the eye’s attacks, absorbs some of its lightning, and eventually passes through a black hole into another world. After recovering memories of his soul wandering through chaos, Tang Xuan concludes that the Godslayer Sword followed him to the Douluo Continent and became his martial soul, replacing the Blue Grass martial soul he would otherwise have inherited from his mother 53.
