"This... I didn't expect it to be like this."
Opening his eyes, Cao Bing felt nothing but shock.
He had returned; yes, he had.
He had returned once again to the Devouring Starry Sky World, becoming that high school student Cao Bing.
Along with this crossing, he had also received some information.
For instance, he could freely travel back and forth between the two worlds with his consciousness.
Not only that, he could also transmit any non-living matter through the connection of that speck of light.
At the same time, when his consciousness was in one body, the other body would enter an unconscious state. Meanwhile, the time ratio between the two sides reached one hundred to one.
In other words, when Cao Bing's consciousness was in Devouring Starry Sky, for every one hundred days that passed in the Devouring Starry Sky World, only one day passed in the Stellar Transformation World, and vice versa when Cao Bing's consciousness was in Stellar Transformation.
The only danger was that when one of the bodies lacked consciousness, it had to be in a safe place. Otherwise, if someone launched a sneak attack and killed him during this time, Cao Bing would have nowhere to cry.
Flexing his hands and feet, Cao Bing shifted his consciousness back and forth twice through that grain-of-rice-like speck of light, feeling it all to be simply incredible.
A time ratio of one to one hundred—meaning I spent a whole daytime in the Stellar Transformation World, yet only seven minutes actually passed in Devouring Starry Sky. Following that, Cao Bing picked up the alarm clock from the bedside table.
11:09:49 AM.
He remembered lying down in bed at nearly 11:00. Adding the time he spent deep in thought, the time now was indeed about right.
Truly miraculous!
Cao Bing exclaimed in wonder.
That means by shuttling between the two realms I've practically gained double the training time. Even though it acts upon two different bodies, the help is still immense.
Cao Bing sorted through his information once more, and only then did a wave of drowsiness wash over him.
His previous crossing meant he had spent an entire day in Stellar Transformation; essentially, his consciousness had rested neither day nor night. Add in the long hours of martial arts practice, and if not for the excitement and novelty keeping the sleepiness at bay, he would have collapsed and fallen asleep long ago.
Now, however, with that excitement fading, Cao Bing couldn't help but feel a deep sense of fatigue.
He simply cast aside all other thoughts, hit the pillow, and fell fast asleep.
Early the next morning, Cao Bing woke up from bed looking radiant and spirited.
"It didn't vanish! It looks like yesterday's events were really true!"
The very first thing Cao Bing did upon waking was check the little speck of light within his mind. To his relief, he found that the mysterious light spot still existed.
Sending his consciousness through the light spot, Cao Bing entered the Stellar Transformation World once more and found that it was still the dead of night over there. He retrieved the "Tongtian Diagram" from the hidden compartment and flashed right back.
Back in the Devouring Starry Sky World, Cao Bing held the "Tongtian Diagram" in his hands.
"This thing should be cultivatable here as well, right?" Cao Bing thought with some uncertainty.
"Oh well, whatever, let's give it a try. The physical strength of my body here has already reached 920 kg, and my physical toughness can already rival the Houtian extreme of the Stellar Transformation side. I suppose there won't be any major issues."
Unfolding the scroll, he saw a total of one hundred and eight human movement patterns divided into upper, middle, and lower sections. The ones Cao Bing looked at first were the thirty-six diagrams at the very top of the Tongtian Diagram.
"Tough enough, sure enough. Unless the human body is developed to a certain degree, and both strength and flexibility keep up, it's simply impossible to complete these patterns."
Taking the scroll in at a glance, Cao Bing couldn't help softly sighing.
These things couldn't stump Cao Bing, however; after all, he had spent a heavy price to hire someone to specially train him.
After going through a full set of movements, Cao Bing's expression turned somewhat peculiar.
"There's actually no reaction at all."
"Is my constitution not up to par—have I failed to enter Stellar Transformation's so-called Xiantian level, or is this world just unsuitable for cultivating the Tongtian Diagram?" Cao Bing pondered in confusion.
"It must be the first one. Right now I should be just like those externally gifted external-martial-arts masters in Stellar Transformation. Because my natural physical toughness is too strong, even though indicators like my strength have already exceeded the Houtian extreme, my realm hasn't reached it. Therefore, it doesn't count as Xiantian. Yes, it must be like that."
Thinking this, he even cheered himself up, though he inevitably felt a bit annoyed and disappointed.
He had originally held high expectations for the "Tongtian Diagram," only for his attempt to end in failure.
Forget it, time for school! I'll process my withdrawal today! Cao Bing thought to himself.
The only reason Cao Bing had been going to school was simply out of fear that he wouldn't become a martial artist, leaving himself a fallback option.
Lately, however, several of Cao Bing's tests were on the verge of reaching the Quasi-Warrior test standards. The only deficiency might lie in the "neural reaction" hurdle.
Now, though, armed with the knowledge of the Flying Shadow Steps from the Stellar Transformation World, even if his neural reaction fell short, he could rely on movement techniques to push through this barrier.
The rest could be handled through hard work. First secure the title of warrior, and reap the benefits afterward.
The only thing he needed to worry about now was the actual combat test, since he had never had any real combat experience.
"Luo Feng!"
At the school gates, Cao Bing spotted a familiar figure at a glance.
The Son of Destiny of this world.
"Cao Bing!" Luo Feng noticed Cao Bing as well, and greeted him with a smile.
After three years of getting along, and through Cao Bing's conscious efforts to befriend him, Luo Feng had already become very good friends with Cao Bing. They often went to Limitless Martial Arts to practice martial arts together, discuss martial cultivation, exchange notes on their studies, and so on.
"Luo Feng, I heard you defeated three high-level trainees in a row a while back. Impressive!" Cao Bing punched Luo Feng in the chest and laughed heartily.
"Brother Cao, stop making fun of me. If we really fought, I definitely wouldn't be your match!" Luo Feng gave a wry smile.
Everyone was a close friend who knew each other well. Cao Bing's strength and speed both surpassed his, and on top of that, Cao Bing had specifically hired people to tutor him in actual combat and put in grueling effort—he was simply not comparable to those punks Luo Feng had beaten.
Confident though he was, Luo Feng truly didn't believe he could beat Cao Bing.
Of course, aside from normal sparring, he could never actually throw down with Cao Bing; after all, over the past two years, he had received quite a bit of care and looking-after from Cao Bing.
"Luo Feng, I've got something to tell you," Cao Bing suddenly said.
"Brother Cao, go ahead," Luo Feng said, his expression turning serious.
"I plan to suspend my studies, and then take the quasi-warrior test in July," Cao Bing said solemnly.
"What!" Luo Feng was greatly startled. A hint of envy flickered in his eyes as he asked, "Brother Cao, have you reached quasi-warrior level?"
"Yeah, my strength and speed have both met the standard, it's just my neural reaction that's a bit lacking, so I plan to push hard and make a breakthrough these next two months. Going to school doesn't really hold much meaning for me anymore," Cao Bing said earnestly.
"Really? Congratulations, Brother Cao!" Luo Feng congratulated him from the bottom of his heart. Naturally, his own heart was filled with yearning as well.
"Luo Feng, you need to work hard too, so I can see you there when I take the test," Cao Bing said, patting Luo Feng on the shoulder.
He knew very well that this fellow Luo Feng would experience a surge of ability and fall unconscious during the college entrance examinations, only for his name to shock everyone in July's quasi-warrior test and August's actual combat exam.
From then on, his rise would be unstoppable.
It was only May now, leaving a mere two months until July.
Even with the advantage of having the ability to travel between two realms first, Cao Bing didn't dare say he was guaranteed to surpass Luo Feng.
Of course, Luo Feng himself knew nothing of this. Hearing Cao Bing's encouragement, while warmth filled Luo Feng's heart, a bitter taste was inevitable—with his punch force currently at just over 800 kilograms, his own estimates suggested he wouldn't become a martial artist until he reached university.
Being able to enter First Military Academy was his biggest goal at this stage.
